An even better bench cookies can be had using hock pucks. Youth size is perfect. I've used them to make all of the Rockler ones. Plus I've used them building adjustable feet for my benches. I bought mine on the web for about $0.50 each. You can use old mouse pads for a non-slip surface.
Hi, I live in the UK and sometimes I find a bargain that is cheaper than in the USA. In our £ shop where everything is a £ (I am not sure of the conversion rate but it is not far from 1£=1$) they have a silicon brush for pastry, you get two brushes for a £ and they are identical to the glue brush you showed. The thing I love about these is you just let the glue dry and then pull it off the brush because the glue will not stick to it.
Paul Sellers also recommends that Stanley knife as a marking knife. The Rockler finishing stands are designed to snap onto Rockler's bench cookies, That gives them a much more stable base than using them on their own.
I vote for the hook knife review. I have been wanting to get one for spoon carving but have been hesitant to get a cheap one. I use both the glubot and the silicone brush and love them. I once saw a review of the brush that said when you pull the glue off its almost like picking a booger.
Hotrod Hog Sir what kind of wood do you use when making spoons for cooking use . I’m from NC so I don’t know what kind of trees to use for them . I want to learn how to make them but want the wood to be safe for cooking with . And some videos I’ve seen sad use the wood green and dry the spoon in the shavings and some say dry the wood a year .

Yes do a review on the chisel hook knife as in how well it hols n edge n if it's sturdy. Couple things you chose could b made from scrap ply wood. As the finishing stands 4 pieces of 3/4 (n I do mean scrap any shape any size) plywood a small hole drilled in center n a 1 inch long nail drove in the center hole. Save that 10$ with 5-10 minutes work for something u can't make easy n that you really need.
The contour gauge is great to use around pipes, bottoms of door frames and other odd hard to measure shapes. Fit it, transfer and cut. Mine was indispensable when I remolded our little cottage, 90% was all hand made. You be the judge. A review of glue bottles for pro or con would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing. :)

The glue brush is less than $4, the glue bottle with the rolling head is still $10 but you get a handful of different tops that come in handy and the cookie risers are $6. But most importantly did you build the cardboard airplane that came on the flap of your amazon box???
I guess technically those are tools. I do like the marking knife,and the chisel isn't too bad,but I think Lowe's has a stainless steel contour gauge for around $9.50 an their four way file an rasp was about $8.00 when I got mine. The other one is the contour gage , it is used for , one thing for marking the edges of stone to wood , also more commonly used to mark edges of molding or wainscoting to get a good clean match between corners ! I bought a set of Marples ..older ones, at a flea market, they needed some attention to bring them back to life and properly sharpened, but they are Sheffield , not China. Used the scary sharp method. Love them !

Hey brother, Rockler has so many products that are kinda gimmicky. With those bench cookie paint holder things, painter's triangles are like... Waaaaaay cheaper. I have a lazy Suzan painting table with about 40 painter's triangles on it and I think I paid like $20 for the painters triangles. Now the painters triangles are practically glued to the table by all the paint layers lol

Like to see you review the Irwin chisel and the curved knife. And I like my Stanley pocket knife for marking to I first seen Paul Sellers use one that's when I bought mine.
Those riser cones from Rockler slide all over the place if trying to use as is. Best to purchase the matching set of cookies that these cones fit snuggly over and snap into place. If not then at the very least you will need some non slip matt on the bench. Anything else is too slick rendering those cones useless I vote for the hooked knife review. I have never seen one in action. Only hanging from a peg board at the store

You guys dont need thousands of dollars worth of tools to start Some basic Woodworking. heck honestly dont even need hundreds to start! I started by finding very cheap in price Good usa made vintage tools and cleaned them up. And most work better than the new Chinese made junk! That most stores offer nowadays. But you can Start with pretty basic tools. Such as A Simple hand saw and Chisel and and a Hand plane. And then slowly add to your tool collection. Thats what me and most Woodworkers do actually. Say you buy 1 tool every month well in a few you years youll have a Wonderful Tool Collection! Start at Garage Sales and Second hand stores (Thrift Stores) or if you cant make it to a store online is a wonderful Place for all of your needs! Maybe your mom and dad could let you use their ebay acount if you do some chores for them or something. Just ask it never hurts! But yeah ebay and even amazon have some great deals on tools! Even cheap tools work for a while until you can afford better. Good luck Guys! Take care. -David

These little brushes clean up really well, just let the glue dry and it practically falls off, I purchased one of these little brushes and must say it performed very well , BTW gorilla glue is my go to glue usually.
No, just tariffs. Depends where the product is coming from and that cost gets passed on to the consumer. For example, many products coming from or even going through the states and into Canada can be hit by a 10-25% tariff and that's also true of products coming from Canada into the states... But also keep in mind the currency value is not the same... $20 CAD = $15.20 USD

Doesn't work that way, not all the same products have a tariff imposed on them in each country. So you'll see a bigger price difference on some products but not others. The higher tariffs are typically targeted to specific goods/products... While Canada generally has a lower threshold than the US for applying tariffs to goods. So will tend to effect more products than you'd see in the states. Another factor is some goods come from countries like China that subsidizes many of their goods and make a lot of use of cheap labor. So some products are also produced at lower cost and unfairly compares to products form other countries.

Australia is geographically large (about 92% of mainland USA) but small population only about 25m people. All imports are expensive. Also what you consider 'normal' timber we consider exotic.
I want to know how easy it is to accidentally mess up the shape you are trying to match, on accident or if it keeps the shape well. Maybe different brands hold the shape better vs value?
I think this would have been more useful if you had used these first to know they're junk or useful. Wouldn't need a full review but this video wasn't as helpful as most of yours are.
As you should know by now, that is not a file but a 4-in-game wood rasp. There are less expensive shop made substitutes for the cones, the bots and brushes. Want to be helpful, show the novice woodworker's how to make perfectly good substitutes for many unnecessary gadgets.

For bench cookies, just take some scrap wood and drill some screws onto them. Work rests on the screws. Done

But put something on the tips of the screws otherwise it will scratch the piece you are working on

The glue brush is great, I have one and what is nice if you forget to clean it , it comes clean with a bit of water, the dried glue flakes off.

Your contour gage is pretty much the same as the one Harbor Freight sells for $7.99... BTW, they are linkable to make a wider contour gage...

Did you get the bench cookies that go with the finishing cones? They snap on to the Bench cookies. I have them and I love using them.
