Sandie Shaw was an international star before she entered eurovision that's why the BBC chose her to represent the UK. Sandies performance is truly iconic although she didn't like the song. Clodaghs song is ok but she was never a star in Sandies league!
Clodagh Rodgers also made a mark with her impressions of fellow artists such as Cilla Black, often working with Mike Yarwood, Des O'Connor, Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse, and Dickie Henderson in variety.
My opinion on the stage design behind Clodagh Rogers (who was actually Irish), is that compared with contemporary contests it was pretty good, especially, when you take into account that the contest which was being held in Ireland, which was a poor country then and in a tiny theatre (the Gaeity). I'm enjoying your Eurovision battles. Great Idea. Puppet on a String for me.
Shawn and Trey, A Eurovision song battle from the U.K. This sounds like it will be interesting. The first song is a simple but entertaining presentation. You guys are right, it sounds like a belongs in a musical. It's a bouncy song. The second song is black and white film footage. It looks like it goes back a ways. This is also a bouncy song. This is also a simple song and simple performance. The comments by you guys are always right on the mark. Trey chose the first, Shawn chose the second song. Going by the overall performance, I choose the first song as the winner. Coll throwback Eurovision battle John.
Barbara Cartland reportedly sold more than 750 million copies of her books, though other sources estimate her total sales at more than two billion. She is famous for pink outfits apparently. Dame Mary Barbara Hamilton Cartland, DBE, DStJ (9 July 1901 - 21 May 2000) was an English writer, best known as a prolific publisher of both contemporary and historical romance novels, the latter set primarily during the Victorian or Edwardian period. Cartland is, with her contemporary Agatha Christie, commercially one of the best-selling authors worldwide of the 20th century. Many of her novels have been adapted to media including films for television, most notably A Hazard of Hearts and Duel of Hearts[1] Her English language novels have been translated to numerous dialects, and that Cartland is the fifth most translated author worldwide,[2] her prolific output of some 723 novels[3] and records her to be referenced in the Guinness World Records for the most novels published in a single year (1977).[4]
Yes, i have to agree with Shawn, it is Puppet On A String, for me. I think the song as a whole is more inspiring than Jack In The Box, the latter of which seems like a typical Eurovision Song facimile, but the song isn't quite up there - certainly not when compared with Puppet On A String.
Just as good as other British music like The Beatles. Ok maybe not....but it's good harmless fun. By the way Trey and Shawn, the albums Time Skiffs by Animal Collective and Ants from up there by Black Country New Road came out yesterday and they're both fantastic. and this is coming from a fussy music listener!
Morena ( good morning) my friends it's 3.40am just got home from work I'm on call 9pm 6am and watching Jack N a box MAKES ME FEEL SO RELIEVED AND GRATEFUL FOR THE EXPLOSION OF PUNKROCK WOW THAT WAS A CLOSE THING THANK YOU IGGY POP AND THE MC5 NEW YORK DOLL'S PATTIE DEBBIE CHRISSIE AND THE MIGHTY MIGHTY RAMONE'S
Puppet on a String wins without a doubt. A Eurovision classic!

As a die-hard Smiths fan, I gotta go with Sandie. The song fits her like a hand to a globe... and it's a better song too
Thanks Fran!
Back when the UK took the contest seriously. Both are catchy songs, but I'll have to go with the 1967 winner.
Thanks Kennet!
Sandie Shaw - A great singer.
For sure! Thanks!
Jack in the Box is a Themen from the standing tin soldier from Anderson I think. Love it

lol will check those out, thanks for the heads up Danny!
Sandie!
Thanks for Watching!
I'm on the Sandie bus on this one. Clodagh is pronounced Clow(like crow) dah rather than cloud ah but Irish names can be a minefield.
Always appreciate the help Richard!
