Just learned that O'Rourke died today (2/15/22): Somehow, Rest in Peace just doesn't seem appropriate for America's funniest political author. As a fellow New Hampshirite, a recovering leftist and someone who's been reading O'Rourke since he wrote for Rolling Stone, I will greatly miss his shrewd political insights, biting satirical wit and general understanding of the human condition.
It's really kind of amazing how wrong he was about everything over the last several years. The anti-Trump thing blinded him to so much. I wonder what he was thinking in his final days, if he was lucid. If he was he must have known that the Left he thought could always be worked with has gone totally insane.
R T so wrong about him being "wrong." In this very interview, he points out how he is not a fan of the Dems either. Should have done your due diligence. When endorsing Hilary in 2016: "O'Rourke stated that his endorsement included her "lies and empty promises" and added "She's wrong about absolutely everything, but she's wrong within normal parameters." He was a true reporter and a writer, not an advocate. We'll miss you P.J., hope you enjoyed the cigars.
Now we'll never see the two Irishmen, PJ and Joe Rogan, talking about doing drugs with Hunter Thompson. We'll never see the two journalists, PJ and Tim Pool, talking about going dangerous places to find out what's happening there. This is one of the first public figures whose loss is really a moment to regret what could have been.
