Happy St Patrick’s day ☘️🍀🍀from USA 🇺🇸 Lisa the lyme and autoimmune warrior. So sorry but I’m still having tough illness days and was in bed all day today but watching at nearly midnight here. Much love to you and so so enjoyed your mini concert in the pub. So nice to get to know more about you. Spain is one of the places on my bucket list but not seeing that happening due to lyme and other health issues but love hearing about your travels . Thank you 🙏 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻💚💚🦠💚🦠💚🙏🙏🙏
Happy St. Patrick's Day from Ohio! I'm not Irish, and don't actually care about the holiday, but my daughter made an elaborate leprechaun trap (which included a ukulele) and I just had to silently "spring" it so it looks like she trapped a leprechaun during the night. The funny part is, she knows it's all pretend, but insists on playing out the fantasy just for the pure whimsy of the experience... and i participate enthusiastically. Parenting is wild.
Great story to kick things off. I think I would have headed back to the ferry….but that is me now pushing 70. I would like to think that at 20 i would have pressed on a bit more. 👍
Totally disorganised all by myself, lol. I can relate to that. It's the glitches that make life interesting and fuel many a story. I have an endless supply of them myself. Love a bit of storytelling. Raconteuse is the female storyteller, sounds rather glam doesn't it.👌🤗 Look forward to it as always. You should write a pocket size book of your travels.😊❤
@@GorranKendall 🤗👍Its an excellent word. It was a great stream last night, and cool going on to a little show in teeny bar near me, a young man playing guitar and singing solo also in a band. Everyone was singing loud too. Feeling a bit delicate, lol.
I went to Paris on my own in my early twenties. I couldn't speak French but I stayed in a non-English speaking suburb on the outskirts somewhere. I remember I'd been out looking around the small town area I was staying in, was just walking back and this woman came up to me with a pram and she was asking me where the DHSS office was. I had been there long enough that I understood her, and I'd seen the signs as I was walking around... I was so excited I could help and that my ear was improving, but then I realised I didn't have the language skill to tell her the answer, so I had to make all these comical directions and reassuring gestures. I'm sure she thought I was quite mad lol. But these moments are what a life is made of.
Hahah that's great, so awesome that you still tried to help too! A lot of people get stuck in their confidence when a lack of vocabulary holds them back! You're a gem ❤️
It reminds me of an anecdote from a friend of mine. He had a French girlfriend but his French wasn't great. They were in a field (fruit-picking or something) and she shouted "Ou es tu ?" Instead of replying "Je suis ici" (I am here) he shouted "Je suis la bas" (I am over there). Made me laugh
You are a brave soul to hitchhike, but to do it in a place you don't speak the language really takes guts. Loved the story and look forward to more episodes. 🦧💙
That was a fun story. Made my wife laugh (she speaks French...I do not), so thanks for that. I can relate to the traveling issues. Hitchhiking sounds much less stressful in Europe.

Most people exist, that is all. - Oscar Wilde I feel like you took a look at the boundaries of “comfort zone” and just went “nahhh.” Life is ours to experience, we are not meant to be gears in a machine, ever turning and wearing down until we break… Thank you for sharing this story, it’ll be great to hear more. Very engaging storytelling. 🥰
Experience is the best teacher! you gained some wisdom for this time around. Thanks for sharing all the videos haven't caught all of them live but.. enjoying them! Stay safe.
You remembered of me...when I was around 22 and, studying history in Romania and having my summer of arheological diggins I asked my teacher to send me also on other sites apart Middle Age where I already was. He sent me on some hills near my town (25 km far from the my place) and after 2 weeks of Prehistorian dig, very interestig btw...work, fun & tent sleep) I finished the practicum, wrote my town name on a paper and reached the main road...There were a lot of cars but I didn't understand why all the drivers were smiling and even laughing at me until, after 30', a friend of mine was surprised to see me in his village and came to me...aso 😂😅😂...your town is in the other direction! And I crossed the street...But it was my best summer! Thank you for story, Mr. Raconteur! 🎶🎸
My dad and uncles hitchhiked when they were younger here in the states. My grandfather hopped trains. Many people used to that here. However it’s really dangerous to do that today. I suppose it’s different in Europe. My brother lived in Germany for 2 years and has many tales about it- he liked it. Enjoyed your story- safe travels.
Yes I think it's probably not quite the same in America as it used to be.. Shame! Still sort of around in europe, depends where you go - France is best! ❤️
Coincidentally, just yesterday, a friend, who spent a couple of years hitchhiking through various parts of the world back in the '70's, asked whether people still use it as a way of travelling. As someone who is more of an armchair adventurer, I love listening to his stories and I look forward to hearing more of yours. Loved the story. (And go Kerouac - an interesting conversation in itself!)
Happy St. Patty's Day Gorran! My goodness your traveling story😳Ha may be part of the reason why I haven't traveled much😂 I'd probably do the same exact thing as you and just be silent in the tent! Ha. I'm not fluent in anything else but English! I took French for a bit but it's been so long I'd probably have to see the words they're saying to remember and understand it😂 This was fun!
Sounds like glory days to me. Perspective being key. I just realized that rhymes. 🌻 You didn’t waste an entire day. You simply fell into an adventure. Learning something along the way. I miss those days. Found myself in a bar in Spain. Hailing from the New Orleans area of the states I found a jukebox with a Louisiana song on, a pac man machine and a really cold beer. Yep….. an adventure indeed.

Frightening to say the least! My one and only adventure at 19! Now I'm living through your adventures and loving it❤❤

😂 love it! Someone could wonder why you didn’t plan ahead more, but I think I get it-there’s nothing that makes me feel quite as alive as getting a bit lost, with only my instincts to rely on. Even in the city I’m in now, I sometimes go for walks to distant landmarks with nothing but a few dollars in my pocket and a hand-drawn map with general directions. And I’ve seen so so much more than I would have seen by driving to them via the obvious major routes. Phones with gps are wonderful innovations, but they do detract from that thrilling feeling I get in the pit of my stomach when such conveniences aren’t available!! Looking forward to hearing más from your adventures 😊
Sounds like you know exactly why I didn't plan a damn thing! Actually I didn't have a smart phone on this trip either.. just a brick phone I would turn on every now and then when I really needed to use it, but I barely ever did..
