- Mayani and her baby daughter Thandie from the Antwerp zoo in Belgium.
The baby has such a cute face and those eyes are just something else. :-) She goes and explores her enclosure with Mum never far away. Just look at the difference in size between mum's hand and hers. It makes me smile every time I see the bit where Thandie looks at mum's nipple, her eyes just say it all. I want some of that. :-) Mayani is happy to oblige. At the end of the day, she takes the branch with leaves in her mouth, climbs with one hand and has Thandie dangling on her other arm to the top bunk. Matadi sitting in the back munching on his own leaves.

The Antwerp Gorilla Troop:
The Silverback Matadi: Born on the 25th of May 2003 at the Twycross Zoo in England to Ozala and Ti. Ozala, as many of you know is still at Twycross Zoo with her family. Ti passed away on the 26th Feb 2007, the cause of it was a stroke.
Mayani ( The Mate of Matadi) was born on the 6th of December in Barcelona. Mayani got moved to the Antwerp Zoo in 2017 I believe.
Their daughter Thandie was born on 26.11.2018
Mambele was born in Hanover Germany on the 21 Feb 1999 and was moved to Antwerp on the 22nd August 2011.
Beautiful Amahoro is I believe an Eastern Lowland Gorilla born in the year 1990. She has a stunning deep black coat without any obvious single grey hair. At 160kg she is a very powerful female. In comparison, Oumbie weighs 190kg!
Sadly Matadi passed away on the 9th of October 2023, leaving his young family behind. Such a gentle giant. RIP Matadi. You won't be forgotten. Antwerp Zoo wrote cause of death was "due to a double respiratory infection (COVID-19 and Bordetella) with additional complications." - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини

She is like all human babies, she runs fast, but her Mum is always near her baby, taking great care of her precious golden girl.

Thandie hit the gene pool lottery, she's a little Dora The Explorer whose Mama is allowing her the independence to wander around at will! You can feel the love Mayani has for her daughter, I've also seen Matadi showing that same loving attentiveness to his baby too! SV, I know it's a challenge because of the distance involved so I'd like to extend my heartfelt appreciation for these incredible Wildlife video's you produce, hats off to you Sir......

SV- Such a great video. Your closeups are remarkable. I can look into the eyes and see the folds and patterns in the skin. Mum cradles the baby so gently and caresses her. Makes sure she doesn't go too far. Carries her like air. And the best part for me -OZALA's SON IS THE DADDY!!!!! Is he the one in the rear at the end? I am so excited🤗

Do some research. I said 'often' the people that live in remote vvillages will capture gorillas and use them for their meat. That is not to say they are not sold on the black market as well

No, this is Antwerp Zoo in Belgium. Lope is at Twycross zoo in England.
But Lope's half brother is the daddy. So they're related. How awesome is that!!!!!
