"Dear Ted, What has happened to us? I don't know. I feel myself in a spiral, going down down down, into a black hole from which there is no escape, no brightness. And loud in my ears from every side I hear, 'failure, failure, failure...' I love you so much ... I am too old and enmeshed in everything you do and are, that I cannot conceive of life without you ... My going will leave quite a rumor but you can say I was overworked and overwrought. Your reputation with your friends and fans will not be harmed ... Sometimes think of the fun we had all thru the years." That is Dr. Seuss's wife's suicide note, he had an affair with a woman while she was suffering from breast cancer, he was a terrible man.
Connor J. Thats not my point, my point is he doesn't deserve as much praise as he's getting, his books are focused on rhymes and half on the words in those rhymes are non-existent
Want a testament to Seuss' genius staying power? I used to babysit my best friend's son. A LOT. While he was at work, his ex wife was out getting into a variety of troubles, legal and otherwise. When not getting in trouble with the law, the bitch was consistently asking for money, or stealing small amounts of it. Finally, she went to jail for something minor and later rehab for alcohol abuse, before deciding she wanted custody of the poor kid back. My friend fought it tooth and nail, but I tried the best I could to stay out of it, but I felt so sorry for the poor kid. I'd sit and play video games with em in my place any time his mom would come over, because I knew there would be loud fighting. One day, we all met on a weekend where she was taking care of the kid, now 7 years old, for his birthday. My gift was a Seuss book of a few stories, namely the one with The Mayzie Bird and Horton or whatever, which I told the kid he should read with his mom. Obviously, she'd never read it, but when she started reading it aloud at the kid's request, I think that she got the fucking idea of just what I thought of her. Sometimes Seuss has the power to convey powerful messages in the smallest of packages, ones that kids understand all the better because of it.
I just got done, having some fun in Seussical jr. And I was The Cat in the Hat. But I will say what about Horton Sits on an egg, Gertrude McFuzz, and Marvolus Mayzie, and Oh the thinks you can think. And I cant rember the one with Solla Sollew in it.
Famous Sci-Fi movie producer George Pal ("Destination Moon", "When Worlds Collide","The War of the Worlds","The Time Machine", and "tom thumb") was the director of the stop-motion animated short of "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins".
Dr. Suess is an inspiration to me, he wrote books that filled me with joy and glee. As you can see i like to rhyme, though i'll make a longer poem next time.
I've always loved Dr. Seuss thats why I'm getting his quote “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” as tattoo soon
My favourites are The Lorax, Horton Hears A Who!, Horton Hatches The Eggs, Ten Apples Up On Top!, The 500 Hats Of Bartholomew Cubbins, The King's Stilts, and Bartholomew And The Oobleck!
I recommend the Sneetches. It's a very good book about social classes (aka: Star bellies vs non-Star bellies). If you have the video of Green Eggs and Ham, it's the very first story that appears.

I made fun of Green Eggs And Ham by editing a picture of Sam I Am with the message “That Sam I Am he makes me flinch I do not like that son-of-a-bitch”!
My favourite Dr Seuss book has to be Fox In Socks, with tongue-twisters about cheese trees, tweetle beetles, and a box. Inventive imagery abounds on each page, no wonder that - for me - it's all the rage! But this list is superb - a great variety shown, not one book here deserved to be left alone, So I thank you so dearly, WatchMojo.com for making a list that's the absolute bomb!
I hope to one day read "And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street". Considering it was rejected 27 times and wasn't published until he ran into a friend in an elevator with it. It would be the success of this book that would launch his career as one of the best children storybook writers of all time. I hear that it's a pretty good story.
The most memorable Dr. Seuss books for me are One Fish,Two Fish, Red Fish, and Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, Cat in the Hat, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and the Lorax.
I used to love One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish when I was little. It's mostly just a bunch of creative rhyming anecdotes. The lack of plot is intentional, so it's allowed. Green Eggs and Ham has a special place in my heart, because I used to have the Living Books version of it on a CD-Rom.
Top 10 Dr. Seuss Books That Deserve A Movie Adaption; Like : Green Eggs & Ham, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, If I ran The Zoo/Circus, The Sneetches, , Yertle The Turtle, Horton Hatches An Egg, The Bread & Butter Battle Book, McElliott's Pool, & Whatever Else
Not even a mention of The Butter Battle Book? That was always a favorite of mine. I made sure that I had it when my children were born. It's a great way to show that different doesn't always mean bad.
A little known fact about the Warner Brothers cartoon version of Horton Hatches the Egg. As the hunters are straining on the rope trying to move Horton to the zoo they chant "Buy Union". Several cartoons have union references that no longer mean what they did when they were made. References like these showed support for their fellow cartoonists during the animators strike of 1941. The Warner animators were taking shots at Walt Disney (the biggest holdout) while staying below the radar of their own bosses.
I wonder if they can do a list for those animated specials by Dr. Seuss (like 'Horton hears a who', 'Halloween is Grinch night', 'Dr. Seuss on the loose", etc.)
When I was 4 I got How The Grinch Stole Christmas(and this was years before the cartoon). Then I remember getting The Cat In The Hat(and it's sequel). In kindergarten class I recall Mulberry Street,Horton Hatches the Egg and The 500 Hats. After I got Happy Birthday to You for my 6th birthday I saw a list of how many other books Seuss wrote and I eventually got and read them all before I was eight. I would later read other books on occasion like The Lorax.:-)
My favorite is, was, and always will be "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish". I surprised my daughters by reciting, with no book in sight, most of the beginning I can also recite the entire "Tweedle Beetle Battle" from "Fox in Socks", which is probably my #2 favorite.
I knew right away the Cat in the Hat would be #1 and Green eggs and Ham would be the runner up, but Green eggs and ham is definitely my favorite from when I was a little kid and I could still recite the book from my own memory. It's still amazing to me what Dr. Seuss did in 50 words. Fox in Socks and Hop on Pop deserved to be on the list, by the way... those were two of my faves.

"Horton Hears a Who" has my favorite line of all of his books: "A person's a person, no matter how small." That is a "Choose Life" quote for sure!
I like how they say "An ending ambiguous" JUST as soon as they show the ending to the movie that completely ruined said ambiguous ending.

Gotta love these rhyming words. My favourite is when they rhymed "too" with "2".

I cannot believe people are disliking this video. That's a good list. So if it's not about pop culture, they are automatically running out of ideas?!😑
I wonder if they can do a list for those animated specials by Dr. Seuss (like 'Horton hears a who', 'Halloween is Grinch night', 'Dr. Seuss on the loose", etc.)
As Rakim would say "Classic" top 10.
why is Sneetches not even in honorable mentions?

Well, Green Eggs and Ham is now a TV show... on Netflix.
Also, some of the books in this list (If I Ran the Zoo) might've ended publication due to... racist content.
