    Great to continue to see you and share your journey. Enjoy the time in NM and remember your other home (AZ) is just next door. Always great having you here and look forward to running into you again sometime ...even if its next years Expo West. Haha. Thanks again and safe travels.

      @@LifestyleOverland just humor me... Do you remember talking to me Sat morning at Expo West? I bugged you for 30 mins right at opening, or maybe even a few minutes before it started...before the crowds started. It was a pleasure meeting you and spending time getting a first hand review of the AK journey and NM plans. Thanks again!

      Here is what I did as a kid on long road trips. Take a three inch thick Sears or Montgomery Ward catalogue, and starting at the first page, fold the top right corner toward the binding. Then take the right edge of the same page and fold it toward the binding. Given enough time and miles you would end up with a nice doorstop. And ink stained hands!

    Awesome vid guy! Do you need a special permit to bring a shotgun into Canada? I plan to go to Alaska with my Tacoma and this is one question that you have sparked my curiosity on how you guys did it. I am also looking forward to your video on the mods/upgrades you did to your 4Runner. Almost forgot! Good luck and hope all works out for you on your current legal situation. Love your channel!

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  5 років тому +3

      Hey Rob, thanks for watching! Yes you do need a permit. Check out the RCMP website with all the regulations on the subject. Fair warning, even with ALL the right paperwork and reasons, they can still turn you away so be prepared to put it in storage and provide a receipt when you attempt to cross again.

    I have a great life, and everything I ever hoped for, but I’m really inspired by your lifestyle and the choices you’ve made. It takes courage to sell everything and do what you’re doing. But those memories you’re creating as a family, and the way your daughter gets to grow up are priceless. It’s something that we as a society seem to have lost in the process of being “productive citizens” and all the burdens that come with it. Most of us are caught up in careers, mortgages, making sure we have health insurance, gear acquisitions, etc, but I think a many of us are longing for the freedom of nomadic life, and the call of nature. We may not be able to always escape the gold lined shackles of modern society, even doing what you guys do, but we can make choices, and try to live life to the fullest and keep exploring. It’s built into our DNA. Can’t wait for the next season of your adventures!

    You are actually one of the few people who say my name correctly on the first try without (I am assuming) hearing it first! I just bought a brand new toyota tacoma (2019) and am doing my first road trip/ camping trip this August for about 6 or 7 days. Am definitely planning on going to Alaska one of these times as well! Again a great video :). When you do end up coming here during the winter just try to make sure you have a engine block heater and grill cover (will keep a lot of the cold wind out as you are driving down the road) as well as decent winter tires.

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  5 років тому +3

      We've had to do that a few times but just take your time and be careful. Uphill traffic has the right of way but most single vehicles will generally help folks with trailers by giving them the trail first.

    Hi guys, thanks for the great content! I have one question about your rig. What winch do you use? How do you like it? I believe you only used it once in season 1 to help out a fellow traveler. Thanks and safe travels!

    • @myytchannel6632
      @myytchannel6632 5 років тому

      Yeah, more than half of rigs with winch barely use it. Some even never use it but to play with it at home.
      People with winches truly do not wish to be stuck where they have to use it. Just like we all carry spare tires and barely ever have to use it. It is there just in case.
      Based on their travels and because they have a child, I would guess they may never want to put themselves in a situation where their rig would be challenged so bad that they will be needing a winch.

When you take your family to travel and live in the wilderness , like Alaska the last thing you want to do is deal with repairs and breakdowns .

    Gosh, that ending if this video!!!
    I just sat here and watched over 1 hour 20 minutes of video and you guys stopped at that quiet area and all standing infront of the car talking.
    Sarah kept on giving you this "I LOVE YOU," look and you did not kiss her a bit? I just wanted to see you at that point pick up your little girl, then hug your wife and tell her something sweet and maybe a small kiss and then you all hug as the video fades. That would be so sweet!!!
    Please, give such endings. You have a great family and show a lot of love and affection without actually showing it in the videos, but I can see it.
    Add that to your videos. I just think you guys are so connected and know your love for each other is strong. Keep on doing what you guys are doing.
    This was a truly great video. And THANKS for keeping private things private.
    I wish you guys a good outcome in the legal issue.

    Australia. Who’d a thought. A beautiful and safe place for touring/overlanding I reckon. The spiders, snakes, crocodiles, box jellyfish and sharks are friendly, but the drop bears are killers 😁. Great food here too 😋. It’s a big place though.

    Great segment. Thank you for your insight. One question I did not hear asked is, what do you do about showering? Showers (or the lack there of) is probably the biggest single impediment to getting my wife on board with camping. We both cringe at the thought of only camping at campsites that have shower/restroom facilities. SO, do you have a reasonable solution?
    As always, thanks so much for sharing.

    I like the idea of not giving our kids a screen to be occupied during road trips. One of the best things I've done as a parent to my child is not giving my little one a screen in the car. My child is looking out the window, and if I say it's a long ride, my child will say, " it's ok, I'll just sleep in the car!", Haha. And then we just comment on what we see when we're traveling. Which one of the reasons I bought a 4Runner is because the window sill from the rear seat cushion is not very high, so a toddler in a car seat could see out the window fine.
