Former I.O.I member Somi shows her Dutch speaking skills and a reporter of the Dutch news for the youth, the NOS Jeugdjournaal, made a report of K-pop in South Korea which's hosting the Winter Olympics.

Ik haat dat landen zoals Nederland nog steeds spreken over kpop alsof het een raar alien concept is. In de 10 jaar dat ik fan ben van kpop hebben we groepen die de hele wereld afreizen, miljonairs zijn, op Amerikaanse televisie komen, meer dan 650.000 tickets verkopen per tour, en dan heb je Nederland die het nog steeds als een rare hype sensatie ziet die niet leeft buiten Zuid-Korea. Like.. get over it!

Eyyyy OG k-pop fans weten hoe dit verspreid is. 2005-2008 zagen de meeste groepen er nog out als 90's boybands en tegenwoordig lopen ze voor op alles in Europa. Ik mis de DBSK tijd waarin groepen Guy Fieri frosted tips hadden en stiekem niemand echt kon rappen tot big bang en 2ne1 groot werden. :')

Wie kent er kdrama
Dude ik luister all sinds 2010 naar Kpop en ik ben zoooo niet de enige. Dat nog niet iederéén ermee bekend is jaaa, ander verhaal, maar doe niet alsof Kpop pas net om de hoek komt kijken. Ze hebben continu concerten in Amerika en steeds vaker zelfs in Europa en Zuid-Amerika (Australië niet zo veel dacht ik?).
Mensen vinden het toch nog erg moeilijk om goeie research te doen voor iets wat hen zelf eigenlijk niet zo boeit, hoe ze er ook over praat alsof Kpop artiesten/fans aliens zijn ofzo xD beetje zoals je oom of tante die dan een paar jaar te laat begint over wat nu echt 'de shit' is bij jongeren ondanks dat ze het zelf niet bepaald snappen...
Maar in the end, blij dat er meer over gesproken wordt hè lol^_^

Veel k-pop artiesten zijn geboren en opgegroeid in Australië dus ik denk wel dat daar wel wat concerten worden gehouden. Ik weet niet of daar VEEL concerten worden gehouden

Ik had nooit verwacht dat ik Kpop in een jeugdjournaal zou zien😂 Het was eerlijk gezegd raar om Somi Engels en Nederlands te horen spreken haha. Ik ben blij dat ze haar hebben geïnterviewd😊 Ik ben blij dat mensen eindelijk meer te weten komen over K-pop. En de Koreanen hadden gelijk, het gaat niet alleen om de muziek, maar ook om hun persoonlijkheden en hoe sommigen echt als een familie lijken. Soms voel je je meer verbonden met bepaalde mensen/groepen omdat ze hun echte zelf laten zien.
Ik was super blij dat GD in Amsterdam kwam!! En dat Somi op Nederlandse tv een interview heeft, geweldig

This is probably one of the best report from another country I have seen regarding K pop. I've seen many but this one is probably the friendliest one.
They did a better news report than French television

oh nothing Just a lot of stereotypes, absolutely no objectivity of the reported who was clearly looking down on Kpop(and wasn't even trying to hide it) a lot misinformation and mispronunciation of name and all those kind of things

Eindelijk een positieve melding in de Nederlandse media naast die keer dat SBS6 het over Taehyung had vanwegen zijn “most handsome face”. Wel jammer dat ze niet door hebben hoe booming het werkelijk aan het worden is. Naast Gdragon zijn ook BlockB, KARD, 24K, Dreamcatcher en FTIsland hier al geweest en MONSA X is in aantocht (datum moet nog bekend gemaakt worden)

We zijn al tien jaar aan het discussiëren over hoe ''booming'' kpop is. Het is booming geweest en het is weer booming. In mijn tijd had je de second wave waar iedereen over aan het praten was. Nu weer de nieuwe generatie idols. Het is niet meer echt booming, het is een begrip, het is een ding, ik begrijp niet waarom zo'n nieuwskanalen altijd doen alsof het iets nieuws en sparkly en shiny is. Beetje sensatietrekkers

I'm happy the Olympics was in Korea the media around the world covered K-pop so all of us K-pop fans got to see family and friends being exposed to something we love when I go to concerts there are of course still people who don't know the groups and ask who we are waiting in the long line for but I can't wait until people can get rid of the I just know Psy like the lady mention G-Dragon tour sold out I saw him in NYC he went so many places .... It's kinda funny that Koreans only think we know Psy so it's like both sides are saying the same things when us international fans are like HELLO why do you think your favorite groups are so big I'd say it's usually because of Japanese fans then international fans we spend so much money on K-pop.

The way this news media outlet is reporting about kpop culture is way better than how other international media did their report on kpop! A lot of international news decided to talk about kpop since it's booming but they always never do sufficient research and often give a bit of incorrect information!
