Oh god, if they end this series by using the 'It was all a dream' cliché. I will smash my TV to pieces.

Maybe Rick is still in his coma, and when he wakes up, he orders pizza for dinner, and Glenn is the delivery boy and Rick hugs him while crying because the became such great friends in his dream, and during a drug bust he finds Daryl and merle, and he orders for merle to be arrested but not Daryl. Then Rick answers to a domestic dispute call and it's carol, ed and Sophia, with ed hitting both of the lady's. Then Rick is called out to a farm just outside of Atlanta because he has to do an investigation for a break in caused by someone from Woodbury I guess and he sees that Herschel is alive as well as Beth, and Patricia and otis!

FUNFACT: Zombie Viruses like the one from the Walking Dead can actually happen. The problem is their complexity. You're talking about a VIRUS that can not only kill someone in hours, but also jump start a dead brain, and revive key motor functions like sight, smell and hearing within the same amount of time. On top of THAT, this virus also has to re-program the dead person to have an EXTREMELY high metabolic demand for raw flesh, numb pain, disable fatigue and 'giving up' a chase as well as keep track of a target if it runs behind cover or out of sight, disable sleep patterns, disable the host's ability to learn and communicate or think for themselves and others, and to top it all off, be able to spread said disease through saliva and some how call for the virus to survive with out fluids if you are talking about scratches... given that once again, a virus on this powerful scale is not entirely impossible... it is really unlikely simply due to how complex the DNA coding of said virus is... the closest thing that our world currently has is Cordyceps. A fungus which, yes, does take control of the host and drive them insane and make them infectious vectors, does NOT turn them into cannibalistic flesh eaters. HOWEVER: If humans were to intentionally try and develop a disease or virus like this, they would most likely be able to do so in... say... the next 10 or 15 years at the rate humanity is advancing. ESPECIALLY if that rate is accelerating every single day.
... So... Grab some silencers, some ammunition, food and water, stash that shit, and prep for zombies some day yo. Cuz if nuclear fall out doesn't kill us all, someone is bound to make a zombie disease to devastate a population.

I can agree that creators should not simply do whatever the audience demands, because that makes for poor writing and a hobbled story. But the entire point of telling a story is for other people to hear it. Otherwise it isn't a story. It's just a random jumble of ideas. This is a fundamental concept, and if you can't understand it, that's *your* problem.

My theory of Rick being in a hospital for 2 months:
They state that it's been 2 months since the outbreak, and generally, things wont go into chaos from one day to the next. These things happen gradually. My understanding is that there still might have been many people helping or trying to help in the hospitals until very recently during those 2 months. Recall when Shane went to the hospital trying to save Rick, and it was flooded with military personnel. I'm sure that decision and process did not happen from one day to the next. So, that is my theory. He probably was in a coma for 2 months, but he probably was without care for a lot less than that.

The reason Rick survived; People at the hospital had been taking care of patients through the outbreak (despite the outbreak) and seemed to have protected it up until they died. As you can see from the military setup outside the hospital, they seemed to have made a stand there and died.
We also don't know how many months it took for the outbreak to reach Atlanta and the hospital and/or where it came from.

If that woman took care of Rick when he was in the hospital, why was the hospital bed in front of his door exactly where Shane left it? And my mother survived comatose in hospice for 7 weeks without waking up to eat or drink. If you're in a place that doesn't dehydrate you rapidly, it is possible to survive that long in a resting state. Sounds crazy, I know. It surprised the crap out of us too.

I considered that too, I assumed the reason the bed was still there was so she wouldn't have to worry about stray walkers going in and killing them when she wasn't around, so she blocked the doors of the rooms with people in them to avoid that. Also, she could tell which rooms had patients and which didn't via small barricades. Also, also- if a patient died and turned, the doors would already be easily blocked to prevent the walker from escaping.

I recently watched the 1st season again and noticed that the zombies were a lot smarter back then. For example you can see Morgan's (zombie) wife trying to open a door by the handle, another one using a rock to smash the department store window and even one trying to climb up a ladder to get to rick and Glenn. I'm guessing they did this on purpose since the walkers are looking more and more decomposed. It's little things like these that make the show great
it's just one of those things that only appear in the first season and then is never seen again and it becomes some sort of "plot hole". Kind of like how the white walkers made weird symbols out of their victims in the first episode of GoT and then never did anything like it ever again

Holly Sumpter Yeah but like I said before that would be a pretty generic and boring ending. I'm thinking that most the of the group gets killed off, and Rick, Carl, and Judith are the last ones but Rick is slowly dying of say gunshot wounds because he sacrificed himself to save Carl and Judith. And Carl has to execute Rick(sort of like Lori) and carries Judith to an elevated clearing. And then he looks over a city(don't really care which city as long as it makes sense that he's there) and he watches unharmed walkers just start to fall and kinda die because they can only live so long and the virus can only live so long too and epic music. Then it can pass like a few days or so and Carl and Judith are in a shelter thing and he wakes up and sees military(I think not US would be cooler and add some more sort of "background" effect) flying by and crap. I don't know just something not as generic as simply the main character just happening to be immune and him being the only hope the world has and he has to go and donate himself to scientists to discover a cure and crap. Just seems too generic. Now if you've read what I unintentionally wrote to be a very long comment then thank you :)

Norman Reedus did not audition for the role of Merle, but rather, he was so impressed by the script and the idea of TWD that he wanted to be in the show no matter how small the role, despite the fact all cast positions had been filled. He went and auditioned any way with hope, using the script line of Merle Dixon. He did NOT audition to BE Merle. And they were so impressed by Reedus' performance, Merle ended up having a little brother named Daryl, created especially for Norman.

What I think happened is that Rick woke up from his coma shortly after the hospital had been evacuated of people/taken over by walkers. When Rick wakes up lights (and electricity) are mostly functional, the dead woman that Rick sees has not yet turned, and the military helicopter/cars are still present and have not been stolen. Perhaps the military had been using the hospital as a base and had been overrun by walkers (or other people) and just left/died.

in the comics there is no Dixon Brothers at all. and that the Daryl will apear in the Comics is not a true...why? just think about it...how big fucking plot change would be in the comics if Rick would met Daryl...it would be impossible...we don't much know how Daryl and Merle met Rick's group but wouldn't be a really strange if would turn out that Daryl actually exists and he met Rick for "accident,, ? i like Daryl but...how he would met them? About 2 minutes & 45 seconds in to Season 1: Episode 6 "TS-19" it can be argued that the position of the pillow changes, suggesting the entire stretcher could have been moved at some point.

the fact that the zombies dont breathe and therefore cant make any noise should've been made part of the show, imagine how much more terrifying they'd be. they could sneak up and take out anyone, especially in the dark, before they knew what was happening.

May I ask something about your final Top 10 fact? You query how Rick could have survived in a coma for perhaps 2 months, when his intravenous drip would only last for a few days. But of those 2 months in a coma, surely he could have had medical attention for most of it: for all we know, when he woke up, the last nurses or doctors who had been looking after him might only have abandoned him a couple of days beforehand. Is that plausible, or am I overlooking something in the plot that would contradict that possible explanation?
there is an episode that explains that the hospital was operating after the outbreak (and there are all the dressed corpses outside) but it does not say how long that lasts.
Well, works for me, it's probably something like that considering we're on season 5 now and the subject was never raised . What doesn't make sense to me is how someone who has been in a coma for the past two months can actually walk a few seconds after waking up. Keeping a body part immobile for more than a few weeks makes it pretty useless for a while. He should have sever muscle atrophy and wouldn't be able to stay on his feet before days, enven weeks of physical therapy. I guess it was just easier that way...
Light Bolt Generally coma patients receive some form of muscle therapy while they are in the coma, just to keep the muscles strong, they still wouldn't function at full capacity and he still would have had trouble walking, so your point is still valid, to a point, he would have been able to walk after a couple of minutes, but he would have had to support himself somehow, but ya know, suspension of belief and all that, I could get really technical on the show, but doing that ruins it for me, so I choose not to pick anything apart.
