    The video said: "These people were captured on battlefields and were potentially dangerous". Question: So is this how you want individuals in the US Military treated? They are, after all, the most physically dangerous people on the planet, given their training? Is this the position of the US military? Seriously? Oh, and they send cameramen to Gitmo... because they were cameramen? Good grief.

    You know honestly it annoys me to even hear anything about Gitmo, not because I don't think people have legitimate grievances, I understand that they do. It angers me because it seems like both society and the United Nations have no concerns about freeing the poor, poor souls of the North Korean torture camps.
    If you want to learn what true evil is and what true hell is just do some research on the North Korean "kwanliso". You can start with a documentary called Access to Evil.
    While my intention is not to try to justify the existence of Gitmo, there is nothing anyone can show that wouldn't make Gitmo look like the Hamptons compared to the North Korean torture camps.
    I am going to warn you that if you watch that documentary, and if you pursue that knowledge, it will deeply affect you, it will likely change you forever. The world has stopped caring.
    I honestly believe the North Korean torture camps to be the most horrifying and inhumane existences is in the history of mankind. Is it sickening how it is allowed in this modern day and age.

    The Mar's "setup" is actually embarrassing. It's nothing more then an adult camping excursion in Utah with funny looking buildings. In no way does this replicate at all the conditions on Mars, at least from a psycological standpoint: being 33.9 millions miles from earth, the incredible day and night changes in temperature, the seculsion of being 2 years from any help, SPACE! It's sad if anyone believes that the hope of humanity rests on the red planet and publicity stunts such as thus. At best it'll be an interesting private-sector space excursion. But the future of "life", unfortunately, will not be in average humans traveling to a desolate, dead planet. We should work to fix the planet we were evolved on. Otherwise we should concede the future of sentience to computers and android type beings.

    As Bruce Sterling has put it: "I'll believe in people settling Mars at about the same time I see people settling the Gobi Desert. The Gobi Desert is about a thousand times as hospitable as Mars and five hundred times cheaper and easier to reach. Nobody ever writes "Gobi Desert Opera" because, well, it's just kind of plonkingly obvious that there's no good reason to go there and live. It's ugly, it's inhospitable and there's no way to make it pay. Mars is just the same, really. We just romanticize it because it's so hard to reach." Also I like how the NASA worker says that after Mars we could keep on planet hopping forever when it would take the space shuttle 165,000 years just to the nearest star, 90,000 years for Voyager 1. So even if we built an extravagant spaceship with a colony of humans and the supplies to kickstart a biosphere on an inhospitable planet it'll take hundreds of thousands of years just to get anywhere unless we found a way to bend space. It's an investment with many risks and very few rewards besides for the passengers.

    • @nealwoo1671
      @nealwoo1671 7 років тому +9

      Isn't the whole point of settling Mars to ensure the human race has a chance to survive, whenever the next extinction level event occurs on Earth? That seems more than worth the investment...

    • @violentdelights56james82
      @violentdelights56james82 7 років тому

      I agree but we should do a little genetic engineering for human behavior before settling a whole new planet. We can't bring our baggage with us especially tribalism. Also if we can have eco-structures on mars that resemble earths then we sure can produce that here or even have massive space cities orbiting the earth and the moon. Lastly I was just pointing out the challenges and limitations when it comes to space colonization and we need to focus on what's realistic instead of dreaming that we'll have Star Trek travel anytime soon.

    • @xXPiEXx55
      @xXPiEXx55 7 років тому

      lmao dude 'people dont live in the desert so we won't live on mars' what a shit argument, also are you seriously comparing a low earth orbit shuttle and a space probe that was launched 40 years ago to our technology in say ~40-50 years?

    • @MaximusXXX77
      @MaximusXXX77 7 років тому +1

      VolentDelights56 James You raise a valid point...I’m not sure it’s practical to reach Mars. How are we going to co-exist there if we can’t here on Earth without all the obstacles? How will we grow food and acquire water? It has definitely been romanticized.

Do you think Clinton, Obama or any of their friends would be willing to allow them to live with them, or even in their neighborhood? I disagree with Trump on some issues, but I’m with him on this one. Already some of the detainees released have gone back to terrorism while others have been lost complete track of...a complete mess.
