Thank you for your instructions. This morning I will be sewing a bagged hem on a ball gown wedding dress. You popped up in my feed. I look forward to more videos. Thanks again!
I just finished my Donny shirt. I love it so much! It's my first time sewing a shirt with a collar like this and it turned out beautifully. I made it in a whimsical, camping equipment patterned fabric which I got here in Japan. It's my camp-print-camp-collar-shirt!
Good to watch the visual tutorial to confirm I’ve made it correctly from your superb written instructions - well apart from tiny puckers underneath the collar. Now to sew the dress version! Thank you.
I made a Donny shirt last weekend right after the pattern first came out. I got lots of compliments when I wore it. This is now one of my favorite patterns ever, and I want to make 5 more. I watched the tutorial and picked up a few tricks to remember for the next one. Well done!
Thank you so much for this video tutorial!! I have a really hard time understanding from just written instructions, even when they have illustrations. You have no idea how helpful this was for me! Now I finally understand how to make a shirt. Love my donny shirt 🥲
I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel, this was fabulous. You’re instructions are clear and simple to follow own and informative for this confident beginner. I feel like I have progressed in my skill set following you’re easy steps, there’s no way I would have understood how this was put together without your assistance. Thank you so much. 🌹❤️
I love this shirt. Your explanations are excellent, Chelsea. I only had one yard of fabric, so I made it sleeveless (bound the armholes) and even had to use a different fabric for the inside back yoke. Looks so good, love it.
I am working on a toiler right now with lots of corners. Since watching this sew along, I've been working all my conners like they have information. This was a great tip!
Made two shirts in 48 hours, LOVING this pattern. I've wanted a bowling style shirt since I was a kid watching Grease 2 and pretending to be Michelle Pfeiffer, thank you for this pattern it finally came true!
Just finished my first Donny shirt and it’s my new favourite top! I’m going to make a few more in different fabrics now. I’m 174cm tall so I’ll probably add 1-2cm extra length to my next one.
Great tutorial you made it look easy,I hope when I make the shirt it goes that well. I always have collar trouble for some reason, I think I just need to belive in myself more x
Very happy to have this tutorial and find it helpful. However, the pauses to show how the garment should like after each sewing interval are unclear because the fabric isn't being laid flat.
When I add a pocket to a print garment, I match the print so the pocket is hard to see. It isn’t hard. Just mark the pocket on the fabric, then put the paper pattern piece on the fabric and draw the print on the paper, then put the pattern piece on a fabric scrap and match the pattern
Purchased the pattern last night, and I can’t wait to make mine. I would love some details about your dress hack. How much did you cut off the length and what was the width of the skirt piece you added?
Thanks for the sew along, I am looking for a pattern like this. I really want an inverted pleat on the back, would that be fairly simple to hack by adding about 3 inches to the back piece? I am not a beginner but not a well-seasoned sewer either.
There is fullness on the back because of the gathering so you would just need to calculate how big your pleat would need to be and add a pleat instead of gathering!
I bought this pattern following watching the promotion video where you were wearing the face fabric version with the peplum. Do you have a blog somewhere about how to add the peplum? Tried the link but it doesn't connect (maybe your website is having maintenance????) I'll keep trying. Thanks and love this pattern and video
When sewing the facings down to the body, is the right side of the fabric up? Are you feeling the facings through the layer OR are you sewing from the wrong side so that the bobbin thread will be showing on the right side? Does that make sense?? THANK YOU for using fabric where it is easy to tell the right and wrong sides!!
The optional topstitching is around the edge of the lapel after finishing the facing. Similar to the optional topstitching around the edge of the collar!
Like before you sew them in? That is just how shirts are constructed. If you hemmed first then you would have your underarm seam coming to the edge of your finished garment. This makes it more vulnerable to wear and it wont look as professional.
The part with the facing is so confusing… i’ve read the instructions and watched the video like 8 times and have no idea what im supposed to be stitching 😭😭😭 can anyone help me?
Could I suggest something? Watch the first 30 seconds of your video with no sound. Then watch any similar to-camera intro by anyone similar to you - but who is not American.
‘Like you’re trying to get information out of it.’ 😂😂😂 I am going to think that every time I have a corner to turn from now on.
The Donny is now my first garment ever! Thank you SO MUCH for this sew along. I wouldn't have been able to finish without it.
I hit “like” for just for the collar interrogation comment! Lol I’m going to think of that every time I turn a collar from now on.
excellent explanation of the burrito method! thanks for your great tutorials and stylish patterns.
Question: How many Donny shirts are too many? I've made 6 so far and have fabric for more. I love this pattern.
Thank you for your instructions. This morning I will be sewing a bagged hem on a ball gown wedding dress. You popped up in my feed. I look forward to more videos. Thanks again!
AWESOME sew along!!! Thank you so much. Such a pleasure to sew! Looooove my new Donny!
What a cute blouse! It would also look great in silk!
I like this sewalong, so clear and up to date. 😃

hi, i saw your comment, and had a question. where do you get the cut out sheets from or how did you know how much to cut? much appreciations :)
Beautiful top, love that fabric as well x
Thank you Friday company for the see-along
Thank you for this tutorial. It was so easy to follow along! Please do one for all of your patterns!!!!!!!
Such a joy to sew the Donny and this video was soooooooo helpful. Thank you very much 🧵🧵🧵

Thanks for this video. It's a great supplement to the excellent instructions!
I made the Donny out of Orioles material, love it. Your instructions were perfect. Thank you so much
Yupiii 😀 I just finished my Donny shirt. Nice tutorial. Thank you!!

I’ve just sewn this shirt, and I love it. However, I needed help for a few steps of the process which this video provided….thank you.
Love the video and seeing the Donny shirt, I plan to sew many more it’s a great top, love the neck and my first go at sewing a burrito yoke 😊
Another great sew along thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for this video tutorial!! I have a really hard time understanding from just written instructions, even when they have illustrations. You have no idea how helpful this was for me! Now I finally understand how to make a shirt. Love my donny shirt 🥲
Great tutorial, and good to watch a left hander, (I am one) and I find watching right handers visually confusing.

Can't wait to try this fab shirt Chelsea 🙏... You make the greatest sew alongs too... thanks so much 👌💖🤗😘

@@georgiap2390 happy to help, what do you mean by cut out sheets?
oh sorry, i meant like those sheets she used to guide where to cut the fabric. did you use them? if not, how did you know what bits to cut?
@@georgiap2390 I think you mean the pattern pieces? You buy the pattern from their website and print it off and stick it together
Thanks a million Chelsea, love the top.
Just finished my first Donny shirt and it’s my new favourite top! I’m going to make a few more in different fabrics now. I’m 174cm tall so I’ll probably add 1-2cm extra length to my next one.
Love this. I can't wait to get the pattern and get sewing. Your tutorials are the best Chelsea! Thank you 😊
You always do such an amazing job with sew-alongs! Thank you so much for all the amazing patterns and tutorials.
Really want a paper pattern..... hopefully soon!!!
Love this blouse, and thank you for the free shorts pattern❤
I’m excited for this one!! Hope I have time to make this soon!
What a very nice pattern! Great tutorial and beautiful fabric, now off to order the pattern. Thanks for the tutorial👏
Just downloaded the pattern. Another brilliant pattern Chelsea...off to put my pattern together!!
I love it, so glad I discovered this channel
Great pattern and great instructions! I’m so happy with how it came out!
Great tutorial you made it look easy,I hope when I make the shirt it goes that well. I always have collar trouble for some reason, I think I just need to belive in myself more x
Excellent video!
That was very informative….!! 🇦🇺
Beautiful tats!!!!

This is actually a genius idea ❤More classic/vintage. Mismatched prints are more contemporary though.

Must be my MacBook as was able to access blog on phone. Hopefully you will do a hack to show the peplum version

THANK YOU for using fabric where it is easy to tell the right and wrong sides!!
You will want to sew them with the facings facing up! The bobbin thread will be showing on the right side!
Awesome! Thanks!!
thanks so much for that video - as an aside, are you ironing on an old target comforter 😂 because if so I definitely have the same one.
haha! it is definitely from target!
SLEEVE TOWN 😂😂😂
After sewing the facing. It says optional topstitching but i dont understand where this optional topstitching goes
The optional topstitching is around the edge of the lapel after finishing the facing. Similar to the optional topstitching around the edge of the collar!
I have a question: why not hem the sleeves first?
Like before you sew them in? That is just how shirts are constructed. If you hemmed first then you would have your underarm seam coming to the edge of your finished garment. This makes it more vulnerable to wear and it wont look as professional.
What's the estimated time to complete this project ?
That is really hard to say because people work at such different speeds. I'd say maybe like 5-8 hours? But that is a very rough estimate haha
@@FridayPatternCompany Thanks!
The part with the facing is so confusing… i’ve read the instructions and watched the video like 8 times and have no idea what im supposed to be stitching 😭😭😭 can anyone help me?
I'm happy to try and help! What step is it that you're stuck on? You can also email us at hello@fridaypatterncompany.com
I can’t believe she didn’t match up the pocket! Instead of pinning Wonder tape keeps everything in place for stitching.
xXX👍👍👍
