South African adventurers, Mike Blyth and James Pitman's design and build their own light sports aircraft and then fly it around the world, completing the longest straight-line flights ever flown in such a small aircraft. This was the first prototype of what was to become Sling Aircraft.
It took the algorithm 4 years to find out this is what I want!
The convos with the airlines are just amazing!!! Airlines pilots probably be like “damm those are some pilots with real balls” 🔥
Exactly what I felt. I have always said this and will say it again- aviation is at its best when in a light aircraft! I miss my nav solo days, not the 16 hours polar crossing I do every week. I will have to do this with my brother. Thank you for the inspiration!
Epic documentary and 52 minute Sling commercial all in one!
I thought that I wouldn't watch more than 10 minutes of it and I ended up watching the whole thing... It is so inspiring to see what they've have done with a small plane like that!!
That was one of the coolest things I've watched in a long time. I'm happy for you guys looked like so much fun , except that storm.

It is incredible you two guys survived that flight. As a flight instructor I found myself at many points in this story with a dropped jaw, shaking head, and a fist bump when I found out it was a happy ending. The ADM (Aeronautical Decision Making) was horrendous but like you said, this was an adventure. Incredible story. Incredible adventure!

As a pilot myself, flying long haul across the world with a big jet, I only imagine the joy and adventure it must of been. With this video, you have made me proud to be a South African just as you. We are a strong nation filled with strong people and I want to sincerely congratulate you on your achievement. You have made us proud and I wish you only the best of luck, prosperity and health. Watching this has given me so much pride for being a South African. You two have opened my eyes to just what people can accomplish if one has that unrelentless burning desire.

To design and build a single engine plane of this caliber and in these circumstances is extraordinary; to then fly it around the world is incredibly courageous. What is poignant is the development of a deep friendship. Thank you.

Feeling so much nostalgia watching this. I’ve had the privilege of flying a few 100 hours in these awesome aircraft. Can also say that Mike and James are Top guys with a fantastic team at The Airplane Factory.

Absolutely Loved the story and the friendship of these two guys. As a long distance cyclist I can understand bit of madness of wanting to do this. I love these guys ... would will be better place if people are chasing their dreams as these people are doing. Not hurting anyone and having Fun.

This was an awesome watch and gives me more of a reason to get my licence. One thing I am wondering is how do they go so long with out needing the toilet.
They have piddle pacs similar to them the military use.
MIke & James drilled a little hole in the fuselage. Then all you have to do is insert a tube attached to a funnel, and away you go!
