The fact they include both HHKB and WKL top covers but no option to use a regular spacebar is wild and it makes me a bit sad. I'm really getting into weird/unique keyboards lately and I really love nearly everything about this board. I actually like the aesthetics of the split design and the utility of having the Fn key in the middle sounds good on paper - but the first time I tried that design (I think it was 3u-1u-3u) was the day I learned that I naturally hit the spacebar between exact center and just barely right of center - at least half my "spaces" didn't actually happen cause I kept hitting the Fn key in the middle lol. I'm sure I could adjust over time, but no one keyboard is usually on my desk for more than a week or two so I can keep things fresh (and actually try to get use out of boards I've invested in). I don't think I'd get used to it :(
The color coating finish fees like similar to how they color coat a car. I used to work on the automotive industry 10 years ago and the moment I saw the red color finish up close is when I automatically reacted to "yep, that seems similar to a car coating technique".
Very cool looking board. It’s too bad I’m stuck on Topre now with limited options. Or perhaps, it’s good since I’m spending less… That is a good looking HHKB that is a bit out of the box as well.
It looks like they'll have a WKL top frame with it, which makes me more interested in this board but as you said it would have been nice if it had a solder PCB option.
One person in the chat not understanding lacquer finish got me dying! "oof not sure how well that will hold up with time" like, what? Don't beat on your device or leave it in the sun and it will be just fine. Like you said, similar to a car. Yeah it chips but usually to hard things smacking it, you know...like rocks.
If seems like it might have a high spring rate that's properly dampened if we're going by an automotive description. I've been asking for someone to implement something like this... I'm hoping this style of mount spreads. Also, I'm probably in the minority that wants a 64 key 60%
I used to be the same… but once I went HHKB, I could not go back! I think the key difference is the split right shift function key and the arrow key layout on the 2nd layer. I could not do a 60% without that.
Sad to miss the streams, but UA-cam is always so clutch 💕
I hope you enjoy the VOD!
I do this kind of finish on guitars. It will last a long time if you take care of it. You can do a lot of things with it though.
A nitro finish could be really interesting on a board

the thumbnail keycaps look so good
They way it bounces looks so comfy
I feel like this would be incredible as a 75% with a blocker
For real, I love this design but I hate split backspace and I need my windows key 😢

The keyboard feels really amazing but the bottom row kinda throws it off, but being an HHKB, it could open up new possibilities with this!
Would it be a terrible idea to sand the colored area lightly and apply a different paint/primer to it?
Can't wait to watch this one!
By the way, what is the brand of your usb c keyboard cable? Thanks!
Let me know if you like it!
And it's from Ordinary Labs!
@@alexotossweet thanks! This was another super interesting board! Curious what it feels like to type on but maybe not enough to order one 😂

I was reading the word kick back in the description almost at the same time you were saying "kick back" in the video. Weird coincidence.

At least in red, it’s very reminiscent of the Olivetti Valentine typewriter (1969)
If i hadnt gone for the W70 I would have gone for this
Which keycap do you use?
He is using GMK CYL Mictlan
Really cool board but only two color options sadly
Ceramic Coat that badboy ;)
What USB-C cable do you use?
Ordinary Labs!
Looks beautiful. Though I'm not much of a 60%. Wish it was 65%+
Same!

Oh hell na man, not a PP mount build
I was here.
It's paint with clear coat... U can do this with rattle cans in your garage.
