To the owner of this video, I was missing my childhood days and my parents and hence I searched and came across this video. I was born in 1989 in Dubai and have stayed here since then , now with my own family. My father is no more and I was missing him and our old days back then, must say this video brought back all my memories. This video pretty much sums up my entire childhood, I showed it to my 4 year old son who of course still is little to understand the depth of feelings and emotions. I would like to thank you for making and uploading this video. It brings back nostalgic moments and gives a chance to live through it all over once again, to fill in the pain, and void filled with memories and unforgettable childhood days. Thank you once again sir.

Thank you for sharing this video. I was exactly this time at Dubai for few months. You bring me back to those days, when I was in Dubai at that time-1999. So many good memories. I remember we were waiting to celebrate the milenium, but no one was celebrating when it came. I was astonished. They just dont celebrate the new years eve. The mobile phones were just started to hit the market globaly and Dubai had the most attractive prices for it. Ericsson and Nokia. I wonder this place what will be after the petrol goes off use in some 50-60 years.
Thank you for your nice comment. That was our first vacation in 1999 in Dubai. I am very sorry now that I did not film anymore. The marina at the time was just a big hole without water. There were no buildings there yet. Yes, a lot has changed!
Nice video. I'm from the UK, but lived in Dubai for 3 years around this time for my dad's job. It really did seem like paradise as a kid. It's always hard to explain this to people at home, who fixate only on negative news stories they've heard rather than someone's own experiences. Only downside to me was I enjoyed it so much, it never quite felt right being back home.
So much has changed. Even though ive seen it all happen, but we forget so many old things with time. Thank you for refreshing so many small but important memories💖.
This was great time for dubai. Goos business, strong economy, high salaries, plenty of jobs, no salik, no too many fines and cheap too. I was 5 yrs old back then

I remember these times! Dubai wasn't too big or too small then and just right. I remember always getting my parents to buy me Barbie dolls in the Dubai Duty Free, like the Bead Blast and Sticker Craze Barbies they got me. Also the Barbie with a pink blow up plastic chair. And I remember us staying at the Jumeirah and the Hilton a lot and going to the beach. I'd always bring my beach Barbies, Little Miss Party Surprise and My Little Ponies with me and build a sand castle. I'd catch cure hermit crabs too and dig them a cute little water pool for them. We'd also get driven out to the desert in a 4 by 4 and watch the belly dancing. My brother and sister also went sand boarding too. I also remember going on some trips to Dubai with my friends too. And I remember Carrefour in City Center Mall and my parents buying me dolls too and the Christina Aguilera CD and the Millenium Backstreet Boys CD. I also remember watching a Bug's Life at that Mall. Also going to Wafi Mall and watching the SpiceWorld movie. I always TERRIFIED of that robotic clown that would climb up and down the rope and would be relieved when they replaced him with Santa Clause during the Christmas period. Wafts of my mom's Organza fragrance would perfume the air everywhere we went. My sister wore Belles Des Ricci by Nina Ricci. So many beautiful memories! A time long forgotten and golden.
Really good time in Dubai around the millennium. The boys attended the Emirates International School, we lived in Umm Sequim and my office was in the World Trade Center building with a great view. In those days the superb Hilton Beach Club was still there. The famous Emirates Towers buildings opened their doors as the Burj al Arab. Best time of our lives.
Thank you for the nice comment. Yes, that was a really nice time back then. When we took the bus from the Oasis Beach Hotel (where Rixos is now) to Deira City Center, the bus always stopped at the World Trade Center. And not far from the Oasis Beach Hotel you could clearly see the Hard Rock Coffee building. The Dubai Marina was still under construction and there was no water in it yet. Those were good times.
I'm from iran born in dubai UAE (iranian hospital), I was born in 2004 and remember few childhood memories from 2006-7 to the beginning of 2010, honestly dubai was much different back then, our families used to visit us regularly, I even remember living in al qusais and going to al mamzar park in north deira, and it was obviously much more natural (less constructed), easier life, and cheaper back then, but honestly had so many problems that are no more now, the fact that it was cheaper and easier showed that it was more lawless than now, and even tho it was still free of crimes, some of the things in dubai were dangerous, you would always be afraid of accidents in the road and streets back then, and the expense now although too much to handle, it has grown UAE for its people and others, but from this video I realize dubai in 1999/2000s kinda looks like south iran (never been there btw) and north of iran that most regularly visit (except the mountains and jungles), and for an end note since I'm back from dubai just 2 weeks ago, I reccomend visiting "ras al khaimah" 2 hours north of dubai if you want a nostalgic dubai and close to what north of iran is like 😉, keep up with your great videos 🙏

The mall with the escelators!!! I remember it was the first and only time I saw an older woman wearing an iron mask as part of her niqab. And I bought a fancy Nokia mobile phone there on the seccond floor of that mall. Pre installed with arab laguage offcourse. Britney Spears was on television in my hotel room making a whole lot of people very uncomfertable. And we went to a party at the newly opened Burj Al Arab. Heavy security back then. Not for anyone to enter. But they had a cool bar at the top floor, and the party was in a two story hotel room aferwards. Floor workers were mostly from Sri lanka. And wealthy/regular arabs were rich. Wifes were at home but the daystaff and mistresses was out shopping their Dior and Chanel handbags and fragrances. Oh. yes. You could easaly tell who had the money even if they were all wearing all black....all over. The scent...the shoes...the handbags. What an awsome clip to make me remember all of this. Im 44 now.
Yes, it was brand new. And in the summer of 1999 we still saw a lot of work there. And the Hotel Jumeirah Beach was still called Chicago Beach back then.

Wow
I like present Dubai more
The mall with the escelators!!!
Im 44 now.
Thank you for your interesting comment. Yes, that's exactly what you described it, we liked it then. Tadeusz

Before it was overrun with rich people and “influencers” going just to take pictures.
That’s right. Thank you for your comment.
It's changed a lot until 2023 😍🇦🇪
Yes, a lot has changed. All is not well.
Uae ❤
The Burj Al Arab was just a brand new building
Yes, it was brand new. And in the summer of 1999 we still saw a lot of work there. And the Hotel Jumeirah Beach was still called Chicago Beach back then.
It was dubai before camel shepherds started competing each other in making sky high buildings and hadith about them has proven true.
Exactly🙈
