PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING: If you have been following my previous videos then you will know that I have a huge amount of love for the people of Bangladesh. Like I mentioned in the video, this is the first negative encounter that I have had in Bangladesh and I am sure that it is a one off instance. I know that there are good and bad people in every country but like I said in the video, I feel very strongly to fight against any form of discrimination and I will not stand for it. I have to share and promote acceptance of every kind of person, no matter religion, gender, race, age, sexual preference or anything else. This is one of the main reasons for this UA-cam channel. Thank you for your time and understanding. See you tomorrow! 💗🇧🇩✌😀
Sorry on behalf of all Bangladeshis. Hope this didn't ruin your Impression of this beautiful country. Love watching all your vlogs. If you're in Dhaka soon please meet up if you can
Indigo Traveller stereotype humans, There can be a another reason they have done this maybe they would charge you more but seeing you with Bengali they can't do that. That would be a valid reason ❤
let me give u third option why they did this. They dont hate their own people and neither they thought you're a gay couple. Reason is when u entered they could charge u more than the room's original price but the moment they realised that u have a localite with you and he would negotiate for you bringing the price that they would charge to a foreigner to a level of what a local guy would pay, that idea kinda dropped a bomb on them.
Exactly what i thought first time round.. to charge you a lot of money. Second.. there is a policy like in many muslim country.. non married couples. So they will give you 2 rooms or 1 room with 2 beds.. Even then. Sorry you had to face that.
I absolutely agree with this comment. I also witnessed a behavior like this a few days back when i went for a trip to cox's bazar and this foreigner guy was trying to book a rickshaw to go to his hotel and the rickshaw puller was asking for ridiculous fare.so when i went up to the guy for negotiation he completely rejected to take him anywhere so we had to find another rickshaw for that poor person. Actually its just because of some narrow minded people that our country has such bad rep.
Cox's bazar is one of the very few places in Bangladesh where hotel people and rickshaw/cng drivers try to rip off foreigners. They think that they can take advantage because you don't know the language.
I'm not Bangladeshi but I have been here Bangladesh last four years and I realized that Bangladesh people are best people in this world.some times I face a lot of negative things from the local people because I have long afro hair and people looked at me and say that are you even human ?and that moment I feel so bad . Even my classmates ask me stupid questions in my physical appearance my black skin and my long hair. So my Bangladeshi people you accept the diversity. I'm not homo but I don't have any problem with it .
Sorry to hear that bro... World is full of ignorant people. I am a Bangladeshi and I got bullied in School a lot so I can understand what you are talking about. But I think it made me stronger. I never judge people based on their race or looks. But sad thing is there are many people who still do...
I am extremely sorry you have to face this kind of racism from educated people in the country. Just ignore them. Their are lots of people in this country who are not racist and will gladly support you. And yes #notohomophobia
hey I'm Bengali, really felt bad that you had to face something unpleasant like this... I'm not exactly sure about the reason why those hotel people did that but i want to let you know that me being a Bengali, knowing the people of Bengali, I'm 100% sure that the reason to turn you off wasn't that they were thinking you guys are Gay couple... they weren't thinking that you guys are gay... it must have been something else, really possibly, they were disappointed, they thought they had a big fish in the net... they never have fixed prices, you can always bargain to reduce the price, even if that's a buck...with you being a lone travelling, they were sure to charge you high ( really really high, in fact they would charge you in USD). Fortunately you had robin with you, they couldn't do as they wanted to...
The FreakOfNature This is actually what he had faced. Tourists are like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for these hotel keepers. They never have a fixed price as they always fluctuate their prices based on the appearance of the customers entering. Robin being there just meant that they wouldn't be able to charge them as much as they wanted to which would've been very very high. Hence they didn't serve him necause of Robin being there. Bangladesh has its best sides and it has sides like these as well unfortunately but it's my country nonetheless so i love it to the fullest of extent. To the indigo traveler , I'm sorry you had to face this and I hope you had a great stay in Bangladesh. Hope you return oneday 😊
I live in New York City, I had a similar experience in Faridabad, India. I booked myself in a hotel, when I got there, they refused to rent me a room, saying their hotel did not meet international standards, the pictures of the rooms were fine to me, I felt the Homophobia, in the air, “the receptionist who refused to rent me the room was obviously gay”, I felt disgusted and went to another hotel, it is awful to be discriminated like this overseas.
well its actually not racism or homophobia its just that they wanted to rip you off and when your friend walked in they realized they cant do that and thus they said they dont have vacancy
Indigo Traveller not exactly. they'd rather wait and "hold" a room until they find a foreigner who is willing to pay them 3-4x the local price rather than giving it to someone at a local price. Bangladesh is a very corrupt country and honestly you can get away with anything for the right price. the dudes weren't racist or homophobic, they simply have disgusting business motos which plays in favour of the highest bidder
there are 4 types of people in bangladesh who are characterless in common. one is internet service providers second, transportation workers and third the hotel guys and 4th i cant say i dont wanna go to jail.
I know saying sorry is not enough. :( I don't even know what to do. And about the rohingya refugees, I am very glad that you are going to observe the real situation. As you have many international subscribers, that video may play a vital role to reveal the actual condition of the refugees.
lol...1 million helpless Rohingya tried to taking over Mayanmar..wow, where you got that news? I think you don't even connect with media..dumb comment from dumb people, research yourself then comment on that type of issue
I am 100% sure that, the managers of those hotel didn't assume you gay. They just wanted to make more profit from you (yeah they can be jackass) and when they found out that you have a bangali friend with you, they realized they can not make their assumed profit. Sorry for your experience :( there are still many people in our county who are not acquainted with the culture of "treating everyone equally " Keep up the good works :D
It still doesn't make sense. If you were offered the chance to either make $30 or nothing, would you choose nothing? Yes, maybe they wanted to charge him more but then realised they couldn't. That doesn't explain why they refused to give them a place. It's like they prefer no money at all.
Emma olivia Ami kono "desher" bodnam kori nai :) comment valo moto poren. There are bad people everywhere. And if you think I did then I have nothing to say to you
They probably thought him as a local tout or broker. Gay would be the last thing in any hotel's mind especially in Bangladesh. Most Cox's Bazar hotels are pretty liberal.
Hey Ayesha, r u living in Bangladesh, if you do please let me know, i am in desperate need for advice, contact me asap on my email, leilahouimli@hotmail.com
They were disappointed because, If you were alone they could have charged and got more money from you. It's not about racism or homophobia, it's about money.
Indigo Traveller Nick, I wasn't in your shoes, So I will not understand what you've been through. I Just speculated. By the way, Happy travels. Looking forward to seeing you on the next Bangladesh travel vlog. :)
trotamundo76 :) I know you may be familiar with the word "perspective". I ain't saying I'm okay with anyone being ripped off. I'm just guessing their motive.
The Bengali viewers all seem to agree this was all about money. It just seems strange to us that they would treat their own people that way. It goes to show it doesn't matter where you go in the world, there's always prejudice (class, color etc). That's why your job is so important Nick. The world needs to know there are good and bad people everywhere. Keep sharing the LOVE ❤
they are not treating ppl differently for racists reason, they dont think locals are low lives either, they are just disappointed because they cant take more money from the foreigner now, which is a really disgusting habit too, and I understand why westerners are getting confused about it and thinking its related to racism or homophobia. Homophobia is illegal here just like india china and many asian coutries, but I can assure you, it wasnt about that, it was simply about money, they want to discourage foreigners to come with locals, they want them to come alone so they can charge more. But it wouldnt have happened if he had gone to a good hotel.
The poor and the rich are divided by prejudice and the same problem is mostly in any country. People will greater authorities are doing injustice in every part of the world. This is not only about Bangladesh. It was an example of how situation would disfavour you sometimes.
Glassy sky I guess it was just bad time for u!! Although we have different culture but we are too liberal about accepting other thoughts!! Anyway sorry for what happened to u!! Hope and pray that if u visit next tym to our country everything favours the way u want!!
They didnt accept u in the hotel becuase they wanted to make profit of you. My uncle in BD said Bangladeshi people will always try to make profit of people thats not from bangladesh.I went bangladesh and came back in september it was fun.
It has nothing to do with race or sexuality. Some hotels in cox's bazar may try to earn more money from the foreigners by charging higher than the regular price. Since you were with a Bangladeshi guy they realised they can't fool you that. Once you're booked in a hotel no one bothers what you do in the room. You can buy anyone with money here! LoL
Many are saying the hotels didn’t take you in because they were unable to rip you off but whatever the reason, I understand why you’d be upset. It must have been scary and frustrating to not be able to book a room! Thank you for being so positive about Bangladesh even after this experience.
The thing is money...they could charge a lot from you...only for robin they couldn't do it....cause young bengali students are now conscious....thats why they were doing this shitty with you...by the way, you can enjoy bpl cricket on stedium....love from Bangladesh
@@IndigoTraveller It's natural to think the reason is what you fear most, but the reason is a more practical one. It was about money, bottom line. I've been traveling the world for 25 years.
Indigo Traveller I feel sorry for the inconvenience . But I think this has nothing to do with Homophobia or racism . I guess this is all about business . Hotels can rip off a foreigner tourist until they have a local guide .
4 or 5 times than the regular profit is not the same.... sorry to disagree... @Nick There is no racism or discrimination involved... you can bet on it... mate... love from BD
Nick you know better then I do about about happened coz you faced the situation . I am also not trying to defend any idea . Its just my guess based on local business practices . By the way , which hotel did you got denied boarding ?
hi indigo traveller..following your blog ..its amazing. Sad to hear your experience today. But kazi is right u know.. the hotels in coxs bazar simply don't care about homophobia you. they were simply trying to make excessive profit from u..as they thought u r single nd they can charge whatever they want ..but after seeing a local person they refused because of the lost chance. thats simple explanation. another one is probably they thought of law related issues which is drug trafficking..as it is a common phenomena there. Racism toward a white guy is impossible in bangladesh as they seem black among us bangladeshis as inferior.. so that was not the case here also. Hope rest of your time here will be enjoyable :)
I have been following your vlogs and really appreciate how you respect each country's culture and identity. I'm sorry to hear that a few individuals had to ruin this part of your Bangladesh trip. However, since your overall trip to Bangladesh has been one that you have enjoyed, please could you consider changing the title of the video. Disappointed in Bangladesh gives an overall impression of our already ill-spoken of country to be ridiculed further. Perhaps the title could be changed to show that you had a bad experience with a few narrow minded individuals and not our country as a whole. Keep up the good work 👍🏽
I had this exact same experience in Pakistan. Never learnt why I was denied access when I had phoned to confirm the booking ahead of time. Still had a great trip and eventually found somewhere to stay. I figure if they don’t want our money, their loss.
Interesting to see a tourist in my father's country. I'm half Bangali and half white American. Cool. I had no idea there were such beaches in Bangladesh. My father's native area is more rural farm area. Thanks for the video!
mate I think it may have been another reason altogether, hear me out. I am a Bangladeshi btw. I believe the reason they weren't willing to offer you a hotel room as soon as robin walked in because they thought they couldn't charge you higher for the hotel rooms. Since robin is a local he knew the hotel rates better.
Your friend spoiled it for them to cheat YOU! That happened to me in Mexico a few times...but my sister in law caught them cheating me..and started screaming at them in spanish..and of course everyone stopped to see what was going on..they got embarrassed and gave me my $$ back...good thing she was with me
vunderground1 we live in a world where we r so much obsessed with issues that are so complex that we forget about the simple ones. Trump was a simple issue when he first decided to run for president. Everyone thought that a candidate like him couldn't possibly win in this sane planet of ours........then he did.
Well, it's because of money. you don't know the hotel rate only robin knows as he is Bangladeshi. They could charge you more if you were alone. We Bangladeshi burgain at first before taking hotel.
It's a sad reality even in Sri Lanka where i'm from, some Hotels and resorts have signs saying foreigners only or no locals allowed. it's pure discrimination and they getaway with it
Hey, Nick...just want to stay how good your videos are, so interesting, and eye opening in all aspects. You are very courageous even to venture into the places you have, and as I will definitely never venture into those parts of the world that you have so bravely taken the time to visit, your videos give a very good idea of what I've chosen not to experience personally. Hats off to you for continuing this channel. Stay safe, watch for crime, and keep them coming. I'm an avid follower now. And by the way, I spent 23 years in NZ living in Auckland and Wellington, so your accent is very familiar to me. I now live happily in the prairies of Canada. We are avid travellers to most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Alaska and the Caribbean areas, taking cruises mostly. With the COVID, of course, things have gone on hold for about 2 years. I'm 74 now and once again, want to thank you for all the good work you are doing to enlighten us on how some of world exists. My wife and I say every day how blessed we are that we live where we do. It's so interesting, though, that despite the difficulties you have encountered, people there are so friendly and seem to be coping somehow. Once again, Nick, stay safe, keep those great videos coming, as it is the only way I'll ever appreciate how there is so much suffering in our world today. I'm afraid the population is getting out of control in the areas you are visiting. Hopefully, humanity will sort it all out one day. Cheers!!!!
Hi indigo traveller, thanks for putting this on here, I've recently been viewing your videos, think they are well documented, and always look out for new ones, anyway, I'm sorry to hear the experience you had in Bangladesh, it does appear that people there seem to be years behind us, don't let it get you down, anyway, keep up the good work.
One more thing I forgot to mention. I think the hotel owners are worried seeing a Bangladeshi fellow with you as they deem he (Robin) will ask for the percentage of his share from the rental you would pay. This is very common and happed lot of times specially if the guide looks little poor or paid guide. The hotels may be just did not want to pay any share to Robin.
Shahriar Alam, yes I think the same but the local hotel seems to believe Robin will take money as a percentage form them. I am just thinking may be the hotel where Nick finally stayed may be via an agent as well i.e. not really Robin’s friend. But again, may be I’ve been bit negative on the issue that we never faced even with foreigners.
They did that and there could be some possible reasons I can guess as I am a Bangladeshi. They can get more money from foreigner and as they saw ur Bangladeshi friend and they are like " fu*k now we cant make him fool and cant take more money from him, shiiiiiiit. " and they get disappointed and kicked you guys out of there. JK 😁😁
Am nt saying this is the actual reason. Your thoughts are also legit. And as Bangladesh recently facing terrorism problem, there could be some restrictions from police.
Hey, I've been following your vlogs for the last couple of days...... and you are so positive about my country it makes me feel so good..... thank you for being in Bangladesh...... waiting for your next vids :) good luck!
Man those hotel guys were A holes. I'm sure not every hotel is like that. But sorry you had to experience that. Love your vlogs. You are a good person. Best wishes from Dhaka.
Muslim countries ban gay actions in general , But i am pretty sure that it is not a gay or not gay thing and it is more because ur friend is from the same country and ur in a tourism area....maybe anyway Goodluck
Hey mate, you’re doing a great job. Keep up the good work. Don’t listen to all those bullshit people are saying. They always got a big mouth when it comes to comment about someone they don’t know. But it’s our pleasure to have you in our country. You’ve visited the places that I never been as a Bangladeshi. You were in Bangladesh when I came for holidays in my country. I’ve seen your videos and they are damn good. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Cheers
Lol... I thought I was about to see a really dark point from where you stand. Its quite simple , let me explain... When you entered they thought that they could get some mark up of money as the rent, as you are some unsuspecting white tourist- actually its the mindset in some business guys mind. But when Robin walks in dreams just shattered because he can negociate a better and cheaper deal. Thats why all of a sudden they lost interest and walked away from the deal. I can bet that nobody their thought about 2 of the things you mentioned- I have never even heard anyone think like these things in BD (its more like they dont think its possible - or around that line). Personally I would have first booked the Hotel and than let you in- coz if they sense foreighner, they start asking unimaginable prices ... I liked the vlog tho... Next time when you visit - give Shylet a shot... its neat and tidy than the other cities and it has some really beautiful sights....
Absolutely nothing wrong with being honest and sharing your experiences regardless positive or negative and I totally agree with you HOMOPHOBIA, RACISM, DISCRIMINATION is WRONG !!!
As a Bangladeshi i can guess some reasons like Terrorism issue or smuggling issue or they wanted to get more money from you.feeling sorry for that.hope you enjoy forward days
actually I think the issue here was the hotel management are opportunity seeker . They know that if there is a Bangladesi with you , that means they can't bill you more than regular fare. There are people like this in everywhere . We apologize on behalf of them .
I'm actually surprised you only found this to your disappointment cz there are so many that you are tolerating (like very little of our people can speak English fluently, and their constant staring is also uncomfortable indeed). If I were you, I would've given the Hotel people some warm words if I could. Cheers for the honesty, mate.
Maher Abrar... I don't know about language skills but every time I see people staring at him I cringe. I think Bangladeshi parents should teach their kids that staring is considered rude and it makes people uncomfortable.
I see no reason for you having to apologize for the experiences that you had at 3 hotels. It was the experience you had and possibly the same experience that under the circumstances others might have as well.
First of all thanks for coming to our country and also for showing the real picture. As many people have already mentioned, my first bet for their behavior will be doing business in a bad faith rather than racism or homophobia. They see someone from a different country and the first thing they are worried about is ripping them of. Not denying that those behaviors also exist. Another important issue you have raised is not honoring the online booking at at all. I have been to a few places and I would say the Bangladesh is one of the hardest place to explore by yourself specially if you are from a different country. There is not enough effort from Government or the private sectors to promote tourism and assist tourists. This is along with some other issues are holding back our tourism. But you are raising a good point which needs to be addressed. Keep fighting the good fight!
Hello Nick, it’s Neil (@napt1965 from IG). I love your travel journeys. Very sentimental, truthful, honest, reflective and........to the point. Thanks for all that you do to open our eyes to what really goes on behind the scenes, the things that people don’t want us to see for fear of embarrassment. Take it easy and hope to see some more of your stuff soon. Neil
Hello Indigo, I love your Vlogs. Thanks for visiting and complimenting a developing country. Your compliments were more than what our country actually deserved. For that I truly thank you. I am a developed person living in a developing country. Therefore I understand your feeling and sentiment. Sorry for everything you had to go through.
Thank u for visiting our country. We need visitors like u. U exploring our country like u r one of us. We appreciate it. Bangladesh is over a populated country but people are very nice. I’m sorry to hear that some people are giving you negative comments. This haters have no life.
Hi Nick, Not sure if you are aware, but homosexuality is a criminal offence in Bangladesh. Therefore the hotels might of turned you away because they do not want to get in trouble with the law. You will notice somewhat similar actions in other countries that have homosexuality banned like Singapore, UAE, and Malaysia. This law was introduced by the UK in their Asian colonies and some countries have not gotten around to removing this law yet. For example, Singapore has removed this law in August 2022.
sorry man...what's about you say is true.... those thing is not allowed in Bangladesh... most of our people didn't know much about homosexuals...... they have not proper knowledge about....may I discriminate it..but if I say that its ok then make fun with me..thanks...man you did great job..
Fast of all I apologies for the situations u have faced. But I find some circumstances for that u faced such problems. 1. Why u choose NON-AC bus instead of AC bus?? In our country we have the most technological & more luxury busses which r drives by the most experience drivers. u will not find any harassment with their driving. Chittagong-Cox's bazar fare will be max. $8-$9. when u back I recommend u to travel with AC bus. 😊😊 2.In our country we r now facing some security problem & also have those Rohingya Refugee problems. Moreover there r some restrictions in cox's bazar for foreigners because every year more than 20000-30000 foreigners visit cox's bazar. Every hotels r not capable of giving security to the foreigners. I think u & ur frnds were finding some low category hotels that's why they refused. But their r some 4 & 5 star hotels with low cost in cox's bazar. They don't ever harass with u at all. Again I feel sorry for those situation. Thanks for visiting Bangladesh!!!
Mohibul Alam the thing is.. the BEST services available in a country usually give a very distorted view of the place. He is there to explore the real Bangladesh. :)
Amisha Khatri this is not real Bangladesh. The problems we r facing for political issues r making these type of problems. He is not the only tourist in cox's bazar. I mentioned the approximate amount of tourist who visit in cox's every year but they didn't face any these type of problems.
I think, bro should visit a village to explore real Bangladesh instead of these garbage-full cities , its all about our villages... that's real Bangladesh
Nothing to say bro!!!!I'm a Bangladeshi and i live in Malaysia as a student.Every day I've face some problem here, but i don't blame all the Malaysian for it.But i feel sorry for you. Thanks for visit our country bro.I'll visit your country one time bro.#Respect
soo lets play a game.. thieves or homophobes.. They are one or the other and neither is acceptable.. I laugh when people lecture the USA on gay rights as 12 year old gay boys dance around in thongs in pride parades in every major USA city. ..
He is probably ripping you off. Where did you find him? He is probably trying to take advantage of the fact that you don't speak the local tongue and is trying to make you spend money on hotels that might give him a commission or something. Double check because I noticed in one of your videos when you were trying to hire a CNG, he was speaking in Bengali with the driver and the driver demanded 300 tk (in Bengali) but he told you 400. When I was watching that video I thought you edited some parts out, but now that I think about it, I think he is really trying to rip you off. Sorry dude, those kind of people exist there and it is sad. Stay safe and stay away from cheap travel or tourism agencies. They don't get foreign people visiting the country very often, which is why they don't make much money and thus there aren't many good tourism agencies in Bangladesh. Companies that have good standard don't usually set up businesses in a depleted field.
if you are accompanied by an interpreter then that interpreter whom you trust saves you from being conned into paying more than what you should. That's the real reason.
my man ...this is not about the racism or homophobia . they thought they could charge more from u . and when they saw Robin they became very disappointed as robin won't let them to charge more than what is normal . it's very often in Bangladesh where a foreigner is discriminated and charged way above than normal . very sad . 10 years ago my neighbors were foreigners and i saw them paying for the service 3/4 times more than us which was very sad . we tried to help most of the time but u know we could not help them every time . they ends up paying more than us . However it's nice that u bring this up. i will try to show this video to others and tourism department of Dhaka University although sadly, little i expect to be changed in near future . i will be glad if u speak more about the things that u brush off and have tried to see the positive side of Bangladesh . there is always someone who is watching . Although it does not change everything suddenly . but u never know. may be a video is enough to solve a big issue and bring attention . best regards
I really appreciate that you are going to visit rohingya refugees. But, As far as I know rohingya refugees are staying at No mans Land and It is illegal to visit there without proper Documents or Legal notice. If you really wanna go I would suggest you to be careful.
Just don't understand why you are using very cheap buses. You can ride on excellent air conditioned buses which are regular to cox's bazar.. no hate just saying ;)
Hey Nick! You are amazing!!! Your videos are just awesome! They didn't want to talk to you coz they most likely couldn't rip you off since you had someone local with you. But, I am glad to see how you embraced the culture and environment there. Keep up the good work!!!
When I was a tourist in Bangladesh, I saw other tourists. I met a couple from Australia. I think I met some Germans as well. I didn't feel like the only white person there. My traveling companion was black.
Love your vids Nick.Im a recent subscriber. You remind me of myself in younger days. Not sure why you thought this was homophobia .I agree that it was more likely a missed chance to rip you off. But surely you do realise that in Muslim countries homosexuality is illegal so unfavourable treatment on that basis would be understandable .
yes, it's true. people in here are sometimes so bad and greedy that they don't think what will happen tomorrow. Bangladeshis can't think future, that's why they are poor and bad tempered. I don't understand why some people are like this! Sorry for you, brother. :(
Love the way you are traveling in our country. Saw the first 3 and now this. Will see the middle ones later. For this one i would like to say something. I often travel with a very close male friend. Currently planning to go north of this country with the same friend. No one EVER thought us of being gay. What i am thinking is that they (hotel's agent) may wanted to charge you more than usual price since the hotels room prices are very unregulated. After seeing your BD friend they knew they couldn't argue with him that''s why they might have denied any vacancy. Cox's Bazar is full of fraud agents; even BD first timers get into trouble if your are looking for cheap hotels. BUT SORRY I just cannot take the Homophobic accusation quietly. You will see 7-8 male friends in one single room. Even i stayed with 5 male friends in one room during my high school in Cox's Bazar but NEVER faced such Homophobic problem. They society is homophobic but that is totally internal matter, they don't act in such open way. Sorry, the homophobic thing hurt me.
We south asians are very racist in general to be honest not just BD. I feel embarrassed too but that is truth. Don't let it turn you off. Enjoy the journey since it is only negative thing here for you. ;)
Nick - love all of your travel videos... the content, your perspective, and continuous dedication are inspiring. Keep it up man! Cant wait to see where you go next.
Indigo Traveller can you please mention those hotel names. I'll post in local travel forums. Thanks for visiting Bangladesh! Hope you have good time here.
Syeed Chowdhury have you ever heard the word "ignore" bhai? I was talking about judgemental ppl, they r crawling around us for example you my brother! people like you, who have nothing to do except poke their nose into other people's comments. :3 If u don't like what I said just ignore. No need to be so impolite :/ Btw yes I am cool. Have a nice Friday 😇 "Ignoring you now" :3
Zahrah Hasan! Seriously!! You can comment in public but don't want to be replied to unless the reply matches your level of stupidity. I am not saying, "MOST" people here are not judgemental or racist. What I am saying is, this particular case has nothing to do with "being judgemental/racist". It's a pure case of "failure to scam". Though you know it very well, you started agreeing with the vlogger. This whole attitude of your comes from inferiority complexes that white skinned foreigners are always right and better than you. Upgrade yourself please. Over & Out!!
I am Bangladeshi! I am talking with you ......for correct soluation.Firstly, Bangladesh is not a tourism country like nepal. As you came from nepal to Bangladesh.Next I think you don't know too much about Bangladesh. There are..where are you getting good food?where are u getting 5 star hotel?(like, u stayed dhaka),where are you getting the cox'z bazar good tourism point? I suggest for u.you will doing bad react before you will better knowing (where are u getting the best things). mind it! Bangladesh is a poor bt u mind it also, she saved"Rohinga" her own country.whose numbers are millions up. I will be understanding ur problems. "I say ur problems " Bt u will do better enjoying If u knows everything.
The far left political ideals in the West have not, yet, been forced on the Bangladeshis so you are the one discriminating against them, expecting them to have same ideals as you. If you are going to travel around the world you need to accept people the way they are and not want or expect them to be just like you. So, sorry to say, but you sound a bit ridiculous complaining about their culture in their country. If you don't like it stay home.
pduffy4 it was not not about homosexuality or racism anything. the hotel manager wanted to charge extra from foreigners. but couldn't do that in front of a local so they rejected. about homosexuality, this term is a bit outlandish for us. just like people in the west would react to man married to two or three wives which is normal in Arab countries.
Well said Mainul Akash. The actual problem was the hotel managers were trying to get some extra money out of him by charging him more than usual. There's no race or homophobic issue here to be honest.
Refusing to serve someone because of what you assume are their personal characteristics is discrimination. Being upset that you were discriminated against is not. The first case is treating someone poorly due to something that's none of your business. The second case is not appreciating being treated poorly which obviously is not discrimination. Or at least I assumed it would be obvious...
Me & my wife had a really bad experience in Turkey about 25 years ago , we was in a off the beaten track market no foreigners or tourists and we ended up surrounded by men touching my wife luckily a policeman who spoke English came to our rescue. I must say it was scary but we survived and will never return ever .
PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING:
If you have been following my previous videos then you will know
that I have a huge amount of love for the people of Bangladesh.
Like I mentioned in the video, this is the first negative encounter
that I have had in Bangladesh and I am sure that it is a one off instance.
I know that there are good and bad people in every country but like
I said in the video, I feel very strongly to fight against any form of
discrimination and I will not stand for it. I have to share and promote
acceptance of every kind of person, no matter religion, gender, race,
age, sexual preference or anything else. This is one of the main reasons
for this UA-cam channel. Thank you for your time and understanding.
See you tomorrow! 💗🇧🇩✌😀
Sorry on behalf of all Bangladeshis. Hope this didn't ruin your Impression of this beautiful country. Love watching all your vlogs. If you're in Dhaka soon please meet up if you can
Thank you for coming to Bangladesh and I apologize that you had to face this kind of situation.
Indigo Traveller sorry for this. thanks for visiting
Sorry ur accent so difficult do one question ...where robbin went any hotel or where he took rest
Indigo Traveller stereotype humans,
There can be a another reason they have done this maybe they would charge you more but seeing you with Bengali they can't do that.
But any profit they could have made is good profit...
Some times Regular profit doesn't work for them 🙂
Exactly what i thought first time round.. to charge you a lot of money.
Second.. there is a policy like in many muslim country.. non married couples.
Glassy sky I'm from north south university
Sorry to hear that bro... World is full of ignorant people. I am a Bangladeshi and I got bullied in School a lot so I can understand what you are talking about. But I think it made me stronger. I never judge people based on their race or looks. But sad thing is there are many people who still do...
Farhan Mashood thanks bro but Bangladeshi people are the best
So people in Bangladesh don't realise that they have dark complexion as well?
I am extremely sorry you have to face this kind of racism from educated people in the country. Just ignore them. Their are lots of people in this country who are not racist and will gladly support you.
And yes #notohomophobia
hey I'm Bengali,
really felt bad that you had to face something unpleasant like this...
I'm not exactly sure about the reason why those hotel people did that but i want to let you know that me being a Bengali, knowing the people of Bengali, I'm 100% sure that the reason to turn you off wasn't that they were thinking you guys are Gay couple...
they weren't thinking that you guys are gay... it must have been something else, really
possibly, they were disappointed, they thought they had a big fish in the net... they never have fixed prices, you can always bargain to reduce the price, even if that's a buck...with you being a lone travelling, they were sure to charge you high ( really really high, in fact they would charge you in USD).
TRUE, as i stated before and inline with MIGHTY invincible_Joe
@Indian Weeb Desu En eso estoy de acuerdo. Y también son machista.
@Indian Weeb Desu you have something to say about the last comment? 😂
well its actually not racism or homophobia its just that they wanted to rip you off and when your friend walked in they realized they cant do that and thus they said they dont have vacancy
No profit no gain. Any profit is good profit. SO that makes no sense
Urbanfire123
But it doesn't seem as if there are lots of foreign visitors at this place. I may be wrong.
hasan sohel the government workers 😂😂
I know saying sorry is not enough. :(
I don't even know what to do.
And about the rohingya refugees, I am very glad that you are going to observe the real situation. As you have many international subscribers, that video may play a vital role to reveal the actual condition of the refugees.
Thank you for the support Zakhrifa!
Indigo Traveller 😁
have fun in Bangladesh.
Same rohingas that are trying to take over Myanmar 😂
lol...1 million helpless Rohingya tried to taking over Mayanmar..wow, where you got that news? I think you don't even connect with media..dumb comment from dumb people, research yourself then comment on that type of issue
Dumb Myanmar media full of dumn, racist, xenophobic, facsist news.
I am 100% sure that, the managers of those hotel didn't assume you gay. They just wanted to make more profit from you (yeah they can be jackass) and when they found out that you have a bangali friend with you, they realized they can not make their assumed profit. Sorry for your experience :( there are still many people in our county who are not acquainted with the culture of "treating everyone equally "
Keep up the good works :D
It still doesn't make sense. If you were offered the chance to either make $30 or nothing, would you choose nothing? Yes, maybe they wanted to charge him more but then realised they couldn't. That doesn't explain why they refused to give them a place. It's like they prefer no money at all.
Moinuddin Shuvo dhur mia na jene deser name durnam kore ki moja paitasen ??
Emma olivia Ami kono "desher" bodnam kori nai :) comment valo moto poren. There are bad people everywhere. And if you think I did then I have nothing to say to you
Moinuddin Shuvo You said the exact truth.
Desher durnam to already hoye gese, ar ki hobe. Moinudding is trying to save this country from the bad reputation of homophobia and racism.
They probably thought him as a local tout or broker. Gay would be the last thing in any hotel's mind especially in Bangladesh. Most Cox's Bazar hotels are pretty liberal.
I am so sorry cause you face
problem in Bangladesh .i am sorry
It's ok :)
It's not your fault. In fact, nobody knows whose fault it is. Nothing to be so apologetic about.
But I promise they did not think u r gay. This was for money.
yeah.you are right.i also think so
Hey Ayesha, r u living in Bangladesh, if you do please let me know, i am in desperate need for advice, contact me asap on my email, leilahouimli@hotmail.com
nice of u Ayesha
me myself i'm a foreigner living in bangladesh
i love bangladesh
But they turned him away and got no money at all? I think it's because they were of a certain religion that is intolerant towards gays.
@@strangedean Nope not a religious issue. It’s definitely about money.
They were disappointed because, If you were alone they could have charged and got more money from you. It's not about racism or homophobia, it's about money.
But any profit is good profit so I disagree.
Indigo Traveller Nick, I wasn't in your shoes, So I will not understand what you've been through. I Just speculated. By the way, Happy travels. Looking forward to seeing you on the next Bangladesh travel vlog. :)
So its ok that they wanted to rip him off ? What a silly comment. 😂😂😂😂
trotamundo76 :) I know you may be familiar with the word "perspective". I ain't saying I'm okay with anyone being ripped off. I'm just guessing their motive.
Mahbubul Islam In that case, thank you for stating the obvious 😂😂😂😂
No homophobia.
They would have charged you a lot .
When they saw you brought roben, they knew they can't rip you off .
I agree 100% with you, absolutely right
কি হয়েছিলো
Glassy sky
>calls Bengalis assholes
>is the one being racist
hypocrisy much?

Sorry bro for facing problem in BD
Its ok mate, not your fault :)
We are really sorry
You could have checked if they accepted if you booked two different rooms with single beds.. that would clarify if they thought you were gay.
You should have once tried sending your friend in first, he got the room, then you follow. They would have been so mad 😂
No why send his friend first his is paying for his Room
Buena esa 😂😂😂
@@jewelachowdhury4236 because the local guy would’ve been given a cheaper price than Nick.
They didnt accept u in the hotel becuase they wanted to make profit of you. My uncle in BD said Bangladeshi people will always try to make profit of people thats not from bangladesh.I went bangladesh and came back in september it was fun.
waiting for the next vlog, and sry for the problems in our county..
Thanks bro
I think he was trying to scam you and the Bangladeshi would know its a scam and it wouldn’t work
NoodleTV yes thats exactly what i thought
Otherwise Bangladeshis don't even know lgbt exists, apart from hijras
It has nothing to do with race or sexuality. Some hotels in cox's bazar may try to earn more money from the foreigners by charging higher than the regular price. Since you were with a Bangladeshi guy they realised they can't fool you that. Once you're booked in a hotel no one bothers what you do in the room. You can buy anyone with money here! LoL
thats a FACT "You can buy anyone with money"
Yup, my thoughts exactly.
Right
Many are saying the hotels didn’t take you in because they were unable to rip you off but whatever the reason, I understand why you’d be upset.
How much would they have tried to cheat him out of?
Could be Double or even triplet
that is the most probable reason I think...
But I think any profit is good profit so I don't see the point...
But any profit is good profit so I disagree, sorry.
4 or 5 times than the regular profit is not the same.... sorry to disagree... @Nick
There is no racism or discrimination involved... you can bet on it... mate... love from BD
Keep up the good work 👍🏽
Thank you for all the kind words, really means a lot to me. Bangladesh as a whole is a great country. All the best, Nick.
Indigo Traveller please could you consider changing the title of the video
Please,
Really we are sorry for you.
Indigo Traveller You actually changed the title! Thank you so much. Your are awesome! Looking forward to your next vlog ☺️
Wow, thanks shaela! Those were very well put words
Banglades nice love banglades
I had this exact same experience in Pakistan. Never learnt why I was denied access when I had phoned to confirm the booking ahead of time. Still had a great trip and eventually found somewhere to stay. I figure if they don’t want our money, their loss.
Interesting to see a tourist in my father's country. I'm half Bangali and half white American. Cool. I had no idea there were such beaches in Bangladesh. My father's native area is more rural farm area. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching, cool to hear about your Dad's heritage 🍻
I'm sorry if you are facing problem in Bangladesh.😭😭😭
It's ok, most of our time has been epic!
Indigo Traveller hi from Bangladesh
mate I think it may have been another reason altogether, hear me out. I am a Bangladeshi btw. I believe the reason they weren't willing to offer you a hotel room as soon as robin walked in because they thought they couldn't charge you higher for the hotel rooms. Since robin is a local he knew the hotel rates better.
Mahabuba Bithi that’s probably true 😂😂
thats a pretty shitty reason too
not only is it shitty its Dumb...I know Bangladeshis want to charge more to foreigners but they will still make a profit, regardless.....3 times bro
Your friend spoiled it for them to cheat YOU! That happened to me in Mexico a few times...but my sister in law caught them cheating me..and started screaming at them in spanish..and of course everyone stopped to see what was going on..they got embarrassed and gave me my $$ back...good thing she was with me
These cheating dirt bags are fucking everywhere.
vunderground1 we live in a world where we r so much obsessed with issues that are so complex that we forget about the simple ones.
Even if im a Bangladeshi you should've recorded those people. They DESERVE to get hate!!!
It's ok. Karma will get them in the end :)

Indigo Traveller Do you know Bangla ??
Great vlog as always! The beach was so beautiful! And really sorry for what happened at the hotels
Thanks as always for your support!
It's a sad reality even in Sri Lanka where i'm from, some Hotels and resorts have signs saying foreigners only or no locals allowed. it's pure discrimination and they getaway with it
Sorry to hear that, it is disgusting.
Mark Prashanth I've never seen that in Srilanka. Do you remember the name of the place?
I don't remember the names since i have not been back to Sri Lanka since 2012. But you can see those signs most Touristy Beach resorts
Indigo Traveller read this comment ^
Robin seems a good guy
JK
😁😁
But any profit is good profit so that doesn't make sense to me, sorry.
Some people are always want profit by anyhow
You would buy a 10taka porota buy 100taka.......but ur friend can catch the trick but u won't.....so thats why the didn't show any interest
Am nt saying this is the actual reason. Your thoughts are also legit. And as Bangladesh recently facing terrorism problem, there could be some restrictions from police.
Street Hunger even I thought the same .....Indigo Traveler's reasons are unfamiliar to us the Bangladeshi !!!
Hey, I've been following your vlogs for the last couple of days...... and you are so positive about my country it makes me feel so good..... thank you for being in Bangladesh...... waiting for your next vids :) good luck!
i am glad in fact you made this video on this topic.

Nice Vlog 👍 love 💝 from India
Thank you :)
Next time when you visit - give Shylet a shot... its neat and tidy than the other cities and it has some really beautiful sights....
lol :p
BIG-UP SYLHETIssss IN DA HOUSE yaALL, PEACE
We r apologise bro on behalf of all those hotel's counter's guys.God blesse u.N have a nice tour.👍👍👍
Cheers my friend! :)
Poor Robin :( That's horrible - I'm sorry you both had to experience that :(
It is ok, it is a one off case, the rest of our time has been great :)
you should have walked in with robin at the same time to see how they react
Dude you are just awesome..
Thanks for coming in our Bangladesh :)
Thanks for having me!
yeah Thanks. But Dome Assholes Make Our Country shit
:)
I'm feeling Hopeless about More develop of It :(
Feeling Ashamed
Absolutely nothing wrong with being honest and sharing your experiences regardless positive or negative and I totally agree with you HOMOPHOBIA, RACISM, DISCRIMINATION is WRONG !!!
As a Bangladeshi i can guess some reasons like
Terrorism issue or smuggling issue or they wanted to get more money from you.feeling sorry for that.hope you enjoy forward days
I don't know about that but cheers :)
actually I think the issue here was the hotel management are opportunity seeker .
""like very little of our people can speak English fluently"" !!!!! lamo can't stop laughing :P :P
Mahir Abrar please enlighten us, why inability to "not speaking English fluently" would be a intolerable thing?
Maher Abrar... I don't know about language skills but every time I see people staring at him I cringe. I think Bangladeshi parents should teach their kids that staring is considered rude and it makes people uncomfortable.
Syeed Chowdhury , If u can't communicate properly, you would feel a bit disappointed, wouldn't you?
Sifu A, If you bring out the percentages, you will see what I mean. Especially look at his videos, he has hardly met someone like that.
Love the way you are representing our country. thanks. And very sorry for your bitter experience..
So cute girl
Thank you Nick for fighting for acceptance for everybody!
We are sorry for this from the buttom of heart! 😞
You can go to Bandarban 😍 You will find some real beauty there. Love from Chittagong 😇
Even I also fall in this situation in my own Bangladesh 😞
It's so loud there....I'm not use to that but I like it!😆😊
The longest beach in the world is in Brazil it's 150 miles long, no 2 is the Ninety Mile Beach Australia and then no 3 is Cox's Bazar
Not sure if you heard or were commenting on the differentiation, but he was specifically talking *sea* beach, of which Cox's Bazar is the longest.
Hi Nick,
Not sure if you are aware, but homosexuality is a criminal offence in Bangladesh.
Thank you for your understanding and perspective :)
2.In our country we r now facing some security problem & also have those Rohingya Refugee problems.
BD I guess
Hey are you leaving? You should visit sylhet and shajek valley..it's a must and my request brother 😢
Next time! Next year!
Indigo Traveller I'll be counting on that 💓
Nothing to say bro!!!!I'm a Bangladeshi and i live in Malaysia as a student.Every day I've face some problem here, but i don't blame all the Malaysian for it.But i feel sorry for you. Thanks for visit our country bro.I'll visit your country one time bro.#Respect
You just got yourself a new subscriber! Keep on traveling my friend. I'll be following your footsteps someday. :)
Dude, it's not about those people not serving a Bangladeshi or a gay couple rather them not being able to squeeze more money out of you.
soo lets play a game.. thieves or homophobes.. They are one or the other and neither is acceptable.. I laugh when people lecture the USA on gay rights as 12 year old gay boys dance around in thongs in pride parades in every major USA city. ..
I am Bangladeshi... I enjoy your all vedio...I love it...
Thanks!
Thanks.
I really appreciate that you are going to visit rohingya refugees. But, As far as I know rohingya refugees are staying at No mans Land and It is illegal to visit there without proper Documents or Legal notice. If you really wanna go I would suggest you to be careful.
Rohingya refugees are staying inside Bangladesh border. They are even spreading all over this little country.
Are you in Bangladesh now???
Samiha Masum yes, he is... in cox's bazaar now
Samiha Masum give me your number
Just don't understand why you are using very cheap buses. You can ride on excellent air conditioned buses which are regular to cox's bazar.. no hate just saying ;)
Hey Nick! You are amazing!!! Your videos are just awesome! They didn't want to talk to you coz they most likely couldn't rip you off since you had someone local with you. But, I am glad to see how you embraced the culture and environment there. Keep up the good work!!!
I am Sorry for you facing problem in Bangladesh😥😥. You will come again I hope you'll enjoy our place.❤
From Bangladesh 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
When I was a tourist in Bangladesh, I saw other tourists. I met a couple from Australia. I think I met some Germans as well. I didn't feel like the only white person there. My traveling companion was black.
New sub!
Thanks!
I am really sorry you had this exp. But, mostly people are very welcoming as you may have experienced that already. Love your videos. Great work.
Maybe they don’t rent rooms to two dudes unless is family or relatives.
Every country had different laws and beliefs and you have to respect that!
I said it was one of two things. Any profit is good profit. If you are so adamant that is not homophobia then it only leaves one option. Racism...
The heart sign and flag just made my day .Bangladeshi's loves you too ❤️🇧🇩

Dekhar onk kichui aseee
Sorry to know that you had to go through this :(
Sadly some BD ppl are racist and judgemental asf :/
It was a very rare occasion. Thanks for the support :)
Zahrah Hasan you know very clearly that it is not one of those cases. but you have to make it like that to feel cool about yourself. Best of luck!!
If u don't like what I said just ignore. No need to be so impolite :/
Btw yes I am cool. Have a nice Friday 😇
"Ignoring you now" :3
Zahrah Hasan!
Meu Deus,que bagunça essa Cidade!!!😂😂😂
The Tibetan Healing music, cut to loud honking traffic, first calmed me then freaked me tf out!
First time seeing this video. Well done. Remained respectful under really stressful conditions. 👍👍
nice...
💗❤
Siam Pak You are stupid you don't even know what you are saying, stop being so proud about Bangladesh. accept the negativity cuz we have it alot
Siam Pak don't speak up else Buddhists in Bangladesh will suffer....
Siam Pak asshole
Siam Pak plz learn some correct english then speak !!!
HUH?! lost yr marbles? whatever it be, shudnt get hussled and chop off arm and a leg to get in tho?! right?!,,,
You are right these shitty White's think they can say whatever they want
I m from Bangladeshi 🇧🇩👈
i Love you ur vedio💟
Following your blogs from New York... love your work man. You made me miss my country...
