    Your channel has been great for both discovering new games and pondering how I want to do my setup.
    I can't help but be reminded of those one-handed driving wheel knobs they make

    I am a long time mame user and I absolutely love 720° but I had no idea that there was a way to play it with an analog joystick. Thank you so much for this video

      You're welcome. I don't have a U360 but I think that with a balltop would work very well for this game.

      I was actually just playing it with an Xbox controller.

    Hey this really inspired me. I created the type of controller you described using a spinner with 5 inch wheel attachment, drilled to take an old happ steel joystick shaft and now I have a spinner with a tilted handle. Great idea. I'd love to share pics but not sure how.

      It looks good. I had an idea when I was making this that I couldn't implement on my setup but you might be able to. Instead of button that I have to manually hit to recenter it, put a button or switch below 12:00 on the wheel and let the bottom of the joystick shaft lightly hit it. It should theoretically always perfect since it will recalibrate ever time you are at the top.

    Thanks for the video! This is my favorite arcade game and I haven't played it in years because I couldn't remember how to configure the joystick. Works great on my gamepad analog stick.

    Jaja! Very clever! I have the same trackball, with a spinner on the right and a free rotating wheel on the left. Great video

    Thanks for a great video and great idea to build the joystick like that. I've been wanting to play this game for so many years now with a joystick similar to the original. I bought an atgames legends arcade which has a spinner and the 720 game so I'm close now but for some reason the game only reacts on the spinner by either directing the skater to the left or right, it doesn't really steer the player. Any tips on how to configure the mame setup of the game to solve it? 😃

    This is quite a nice way to play 720°... Any thoughts on what other games might be fun to play with it? How's Omega Race? Vindicators might be fun with two of "em!

    • @DarthMarino
      @DarthMarino  6 років тому

      This is the only game I use it for. I just use a regular spinner for Omega Race. I don't think it will work at all with Vindicators.

    Great video. I've been thinking of buying the Turbo Twist 2 spinner. How do you think it compares to the Ultimarc SpinTrak? A lot more people seem to have the SpinTrak, but a lot more help on configuring games seems available for Turbo Twist 2.
    I've been playing 720 using a Sega Star Trek spinner. It's not too bad, but not having a handle mounted to the spinner I think makes a big difference. Can you make a video or show pictures of how you attached the joystick to the spinner? I'm also wondering if there is a more permanent attractive way of making another spinner knob with a properly mounted joystick handle welded on or something? The I could just change knobs with an Allen wrench when needed.

      I've never used the SpinTrak. I didn't do anything fancy to attach the joystick. I'm not terribly good at constructing things like that.

    Great Video! Can you tell me if your controller is one that can be purchased in this video (less the knob you added of coarse for the 720 game)? Also it looks like there is a round piece like was used on Marble Madness so I was wondering about if that is included or custom also. Thanks :)

      My spinner is a TurboTwist 2 which you can buy. The knob is some old stereo knob I found laying around and I just attached the joystick ball to it.

    Thanks for the video, can I ask which version of Mame you are using? I only see the Analog Controls option in my menu and nothing for Game Configuration...

    Awesome video. Just wondering how you make the spinner joystick

    • @DarthMarino
      @DarthMarino  6 років тому

      It's basically just a spinner knob with the joystick attached to the side.

    Nice video, what are the computer and video card specs?

      This wasn't on my normal gaming machine. It just has a core 2 duo with no video card. Not a very demanding game.

    Sir, What spinner knob are you using and how did you connect it to you x arcade controller?? Thanks,

    • @DarthMarino
      @DarthMarino  11 місяців тому

      The regular spinner is a Turbo Twist 2 and I just replaced one of the buttons. The one I used for 720 is just some random control knob I had laying around that fit.

      Thanks for info? does it plug into the x arcade by usb?

    • @DarthMarino
      @DarthMarino  11 місяців тому

      No, it's got it's own encoder board so I have a second wire running out the back. @@georgethurmond1310

    I bought a reproduction original joystick. I was hoping to use retropie to play. I am using lr mame2010 on the raspberry pi and the tab key brings up a standard menu but it is missing game configuration and other options..anyone tried to make this work on Retropie?

      I'm looking to make a reproduction 720 Cabinet - are you able to get the reproduction joystick to work with a PC? What do you need to get it to interface? Is there an adapter or something?

    I went ahead and post pics of my 720 controller in a new topic over at arcadecontrols. Again thanks for the inspiration

    Hi Darth, first of all, great job creating this solution. Personally i built this usb controller using the real 720 controller with the optipac.
    any luck getting this to work using retropie?
