The original Tecton X is probably my favorite all-around shoe ever. It works great on the trails and the road and for me, works very well with my stride and running style (old heavy guy, running 8-9 minute miles). I'm looking forward to picking up the new version and putting it to work!

Great Vlog as always, looks like a great battle against the Zinal 2.

Thanks guys!!! Did you do that race before the Comrades Kieran?? I'm also very curious for a comparison between this and the Mafate Speed. I'm about to do a slippery 22k trail race in a couple of days, but I'm seeing it as a training run and don't intend to go all out anyway. Btw, with Hoka I often do the plastic bag trick to give myself just that little extra toe room as otherwise I tend to get blisters on my little toes on long runs... carefully place a ziplock bag into the toes, half fill it with water, zip it shut and leave heel raised in the freezer for 48hours, repeat as necessary! It works a treat!!!

If - like me - you burst through the uppers of trail shoes before anything else wears out, I can imagine the new Matryx upper makes it worth the extra money for sure! The evo speedgoat has it as well and is by far the longest living trail shoe (from any brand) I’ve had 😊

    Nice review guys.
I’ve got a slightly wider than D width foot and had to size up by half a size on these.

I’m still putting miles on the TectonX - they’re not dead yet at around 400 miles so far. I’ve raced in them and gone 50k and will possibly/hopefully do 100k in the same pair soon.

Thank you for the review! Would you all recommend having this as your only trail running shoe? I’m not running highly technical terrain yet but want a shoe that’s comfortable and can be fast when I need it to be. I know that using carbon plated shoes for daily use on roads is a big no no as they are made exclusively for race day. Given that the tectons also have carbon plates I’m not sure if the same school of thought applies here. So can the tectons be used for everyday trail runs? Thanks a bunch!

Great review as always! I tried on both versions and much prefer the fit of version 2! Not to mention, first version in the orange colorway is quite clownish! You can typically find version one for $100

The first half of a 50k it felt great. The second half they ruined my feet. They are brilliant down hill. But that's about it. The tongue is so thin!!!!! Speedgoat 5 are much better. ATR 6 are half price and they are much better also

@@No-Rise6311 I still haven't bought a pair but only hear good things. But yes, they must be better than these as well
