I also really like the musicianship. It's one of those things we need back in music.
Great choice. Love your cat's tail in the background swinging to the music!
I always think of Kid Creole as a band out of time. A bit earlier, or maybe a bit later and they could have been the colossal stars they deserved to be.
This was one of the best bands from the 80's. Kid Creole is supposed to be a character August Darnell plays himself as being his altar ego.
Marvellous
My girlfriend (now wife) saw Him and his coconuts back in the 80's at Ontario Place. Small, up close and great.
I saw the original band three times back in the 80s. They were always superb. Fun songs. Top notch musicians. Their gigs were party central! Back then the coconuts were Taryn, Cheryl and Adrienne (the Kid’s wife) and they also had Andy Hernandez (Coati Mundi).
As far as I remember the core of the band was Kid, a percussionist Coti Mundi and the girls one of whom was Kids wife. The lyrics on this song are funny and with the full band this was fantastic.
If you love this you'd love Elbow Bones And The Racketeers - A Night In New York which was produced by Kid Creole! Wonderful over the top video too!
I would probably recommend checking out their song & video My Male Curiousity. It really brings alive the character he formulated called Kid Creole. I think they were one of the best latin bands of the era. Enjoy 👍
Great choice and great reaction
GREAT WHEN IT CAME OUT IN 80s, BUT I PREFER THE RECORD SOUND, GOOD VID THO, THANK YOU
I only recommend good songs 😆
If you think this is cool check out Kid Creole And The Coconuts 'I'm A Wonderful Thing, Baby'. 😎
Yes! And also 'My Male Curiosity' 😀 They even had a Reggae song with a German title, called 'Schweinerei' 😄
Nowhere near enough cowbell
I remember first hearing Kid and C's, we liked it a lot although it they were regarded as a bit of a funny quirky joke couple of singles which was all we knew. Nonetheless that would have been a fantastic event to be at. I don't know about them other than the two hit singles they had here in the UK.
TIGHT FITS VERSION OF THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT IS GREAT FOR DANCING TO, GIT THAT JUNGLE FEEL ABOUT IT
A+++, the best version of....Calypso/ cat's tail?
It may be hard to believe but alternative rock radio played this band in the early to mid 80’s . Their music didn’t fit anywhere else . Endicott and Stool Pigeon are few other tracks worth a listen. Endicott did get some airplay on MTV at the time.
We know Endicott very well and we did a reaction to Stool Pigeon. You should take a look.
Please do "Endicott" by Kid Creole. that's a banger as well.
We actually know that song. It's some great. They played it a lot on MuchMusic when we were kids.
@@hanierfamily Ah. Then pass on that one then.
If you have any other suggestions, we'd be happy to check them out. So long as we don't know them.
@@hanierfamily Spandau Ballet- 'Chant No. 1' is a banger. The Stranglers "Waltz in Black'. 'Cool for Cats' by Squeeze.
I'm Glad you liked it, but it's a shame you decided against the original/ studio version, in my opinion a better version and with the original Coconuts too who were much better vocally.
Yeah, I agree! Here they are, rehearsing their choreography for 'Annie...' back in the day: ua-cam.com/video/WmA2P9NZm_0/v-deo.html 😀
True. Or you could have went with the Montreal concert, circa 80s (but sounded and looked good) plus Coati Mundi was long gone by this time. A lot is missing in this version.
@@sirslice7531 - Yes, I too was missing Coati Mundi, and also the pumping bass lines of Carol Colman 😊
@@mightyV444 You gotta love her outfits!
@@sirslice7531 - 😊👍
