Terrific job on these Avada videos. You get to the point and move with pace but not too fast that you can't follow along. A lot of tutorial authors could take some lessons from you on making a succinct video packed with useable information. THANKS TIM!!
+ACIMBroJoe Thanks. That was my mission when I started Real Website Hints was to make content that was informative and to the point. I'm glad you found it helpful!
Good tutorial. My intuition about this theme was condoned by an online reviewer. So many options that a beginner may get drowned out; particularly if you need blogging iche options vs. a general all round web theme... just my opinion. Thanks
Thanks for the great tutorial! One thing I have been trying to find is how to undo setting and similar changes after they are saved and published (and you realize you don't want that change). Is a backup restore the only option? Thank you in advance!
Hello, thanks for your nice tutorial. Just one question, in my Avada theme options I don't get the stilyng option you mentioned. Do you know how can I get it? Thanks
You should explain what the different options means and how will they change the appearance...example you are saying from here we can change xyz header but you should explain what this header is...becuase even I can see these options but need to know what they mean
Hi Tim, Happy New Year. Great tutorial here as always but have you made an updated version of the Avada tutorial since this one or is this now the latest version? Previously I think you said you were holding out to do the Avada update until they updated their theme later in 2016.
+yunus dadOz I'm not sure exactly which setting it is for the blog title. Probably the Header1 setting. You will find it in the avada theme options under typography. You should be able to adjust the font weight.
You sir have earned a subscriber within first couple of mins, I have watched so many tutorials for Avada nobody taught how to change the colours globally. Thanks alot And very kind of you to put an index in the description :) Update : I cant find the STYLING tab in Avada 5.0.6 :(
Hi, when I go into my home page, I do not have the Fusion Builder button to set things up as you are doing? Has this changed since you created this video do you know? Thanks
Before, anything else let me say that your video is AMAZING!! You were the one that helped me understand how to work with Avada. Now I have a small question. After the fusion slider there´s a huge blank space between the Fusion Slider and the Recent posts. How can I reduce it?
In the fullwidth container settings below your fusion slider look at the design tab. See if you adjust the size of the top padding if that solves the problem.
thanks for the video, I have a problem with Avada , when I create item and add content to that , the content (ex :text box) appears on the home page screen on top of my slider, how can I change it , and make sure it only appears when we enter the new page
I don't have an updated video yet. I'm waiting for Avada 5 to come out. It was supposed to be released over 3 months ago.... still waiting. The settings are primarily the same they just moved them around a bit. Fonts are under typogrphy. Most of the color settings are under Shortcode Styling
Hello Real Website Hints, May I get your advice on something? Do you know what is the best email subscription or newsletter subscription plugin to get for the wordpress avada theme? Thanks in advance!
I haven't tested very many of them. I use the bloom email optin plugin. It's part of the elegant themes license. It should work with any WordPress website though. I have a a little bit of info about it in this video ua-cam.com/video/-TL8q3h79_Y/v-deo.htmlm14s
+felipe calle It's pretty simple. Just drag the font awesome element where you want it on the page. Use the Pen edit icon and choose the font and settings that you want. Is that what you mean?
There should be a search widget in the header already. If not then check the header or menu settings. You should also be able to add a sign in icon. When you are setting up the menu items you can choose the "menu first level style."
your tutorial was so awesome about revslider. its always the same thing:i cant get full screen slider;there always a white space at the top where the menu displays..i tried evreything...removing header ..transparency...nothing works..and if i try to move the slider up in the CSS it reflects on every pages...can you help me?thanks
To make that function work the modules has to have negative margin applied to it so that the background will over lap. The Fusion slider probably has that css style built in. Revolution slider is an add-on and not made by Avada so it doesn't have that styling code built in. If you write to Theme Fusion Tech support they may be able to tell you how to get it to work with the revolution slider.
Excellent video. I did great following until I came to the footer section. I am trying to ad contact information. I click on the first footer widget but there is no where to drag the contact box from. I am getting old...maybe my eyes are failing me....but I sure don't see it.....lol
Byi the way, do you work on building sites? For example If I were to build a site for a clinic that was doing medical weight loss and there were specific things that we needed such as SOP or integrating patient information into other, I guess forms would be the best description, is that something you do?
The only time you need to worry about making a child theme is if you are going to modify the code of the theme. Anything you do in any theme in the settings area will not, or should not if it's made correctly, get over written when you update. If you modify the code of the theme then that will get over written when you update. What a child theme contains is the changes that you make to the source code of the theme and that's it. All of the settings changes that you make to a theme are stored in the database and are not part of the theme files.
I found out what was wrong, it is a problem with the new Fusion update. this can fix it :D theme-fusion.com/knowledgebase/avada-3-9-3-fix-wordpress-4-5-compatibility/
Avada is a full theme with a back end page builder and offers lots of different styling options. Visual composer is a page building plugin that you add to another WordPress theme. It sometimes comes included with other themes. Ultimatum is what I consider to be an older style back end page builder. The difference between a back end builder and an front end page builder is that with a front end page builder you can see the design as you are making it. With a backend builder you have graphical representations, boxes of your design. You then have to go between the backend of your website and the front end to see how your design is taking shape. Real Website Hints thanks for your quick answer. So i am totally new into WordPress would you recommend me getting into avada or ultimatum? Is ultimatum not up to date anymore (older style)? And what do you think of Divi theme and builder? I am confused on which tool I should focus to start :) thank you
I would pass on ultimatum. I recommend Divi. There is a small learning curve to the front end builder but once you get it it's very easy to use. I really like Divi because there is lots of community support for it and answers online about how to do things. I also like the fact that their developers work hard to update it regularly. I also think that Avada is good, they do have some good updates coming out soon. I think that Avada offers more styling options then Divi which is nice, but Avada currently only has a back end builder which works well, but I think is a bit old school. They say they are coming out with a new front end builder, but I'm not sure when. Based on the number of views you have on this video, you've probably saved your viewers 100,000 hours! As you suggested, I think installing their demos and then editing could become an overwhelming amount of work. Rather than installing WP locally (I watched that video too) to install the Avada demo themes, is there any way to look under the hood of those demos to see how things were done and then simply implementing them on my site?
I just heard from them and they discovered that all of my line heights had defaulted to 0. Things have been buggy so I'm wondering what other defaults are messed up. Thanks for the reply.
Hi can I ask why some Themes like Genesis and Jupitor need one to set up Child Themes and need immediate plug ins installed, yet this super cool Avada theme which I use www.brownbinrescue.ie is a quick launch pad. That said if there are any updates to Avada can they affect my Site and plug ins, since its not a Child Theme but a Parent. Appreciate your time in responding. Denis Lawlor.
+Denis Lawlor Hey! Cool site looks awesome! The deal with Child themes has to do more if you are a developer and are actually changing the base code files of the theme. If you are adding your own CSS to the original theme code files you should do that inside a child theme. Updates to the theme have no effect on plugins. Updates should have no effect to settings that you change inside the theme settings because those are stored in the database of your website. Unless you are making direct modifications to the code you don't need to worry about using a child theme. Avada actually does require you to add the fusion page builder plugin when you install it. Additional plugins that add functionality are required with some themes to be activated upon installation.
Round about 15:00 you get into colors and those options simply dont exist in v5.0.2. Maybe the heading of your video should say what version you are using ? v5.0.2 only has predefined theme skin, predefined color scheme and primary color. All that stuff about customising and about buttons aint there buddy.
+Bobs Cats Thanks that's good to know. Avada 5 must have just come out in the last day or so. They haven't even announced it in their email or blog yet.
Cool thanks I'll check it out! I like that you included the bpm for each song that's helpful. You should add an about page to tell a little bit about yourself and why you are sharing your music. Or even include that info on your home page.
Hay i have a chap installing the avada theme from fiverr in india and he is having what he calls font cache issues is there such a thing and if so is it easy fixed ? my web hosters say all is well at their end www.bodynmind.kiwi is the site look forward to you reply appreciate your time warmly Johannes
Sometimes the Avada theme can't be loaded using the standard WordPress upload procedure and has to be uploaded via ftp. That could be the issue that they are talking about.
Way more helpful than any other tutorial I found online! Thanks!
No problem. Glad you liked it.
Amazing video. Not sure who are these 14 who disliked it
I really enjoyed your tutorial. You have a very clear voice and diction that makes watching the video a treat. Thanks!
+June Top Model Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful!

Thanks for making the process a lot clearer particularly with the header/slider section.
Excellent tutorial -- well organized and easy to follow. Thank you.
Hi thanks for the info and for getting back to me so soon. Enjoyed your video and will look at more of your content over coming days. Tanks.
Nice, quick and structured tutorial! Good work! :)
Well done, many thanks to share your knowledge!
+Leopoldo Dibarboure Icasuriaga Glad to help out!

Hello, thanks for your nice tutorial. Just one question, in my Avada theme options I don't get the stilyng option you mentioned. Do you know how can I get it? Thanks
It's under the Avada theme options. Then look for the Shortcodes Styling, Colors and Typography.
Thank you for this good instruction. It help´s me a lot.
+Steuerberater Holger Lippner, Problemlöser und Ideengeber Your welcome :) Glad I could help.
Great video! Can you do one about adding an optin box/contact form on a page?
+Reginald Sinevet Sure I'll work on it. Thanks for the suggestion.
You should explain what the different options means and how will they change the appearance...example you are saying from here we can change xyz header but you should explain what this header is...becuase even I can see these options but need to know what they mean

I'm not sure if I'm going to make a new Avada tutorial. It's a lot of work and I have other projects that I'm working on right now.
thanks for the tutorial, it helps me so much... one quick question how to make bold font on my blog title?
+yunus dadOz I'm not sure exactly which setting it is for the blog title. Probably the Header1 setting. You will find it in the avada theme options under typography. You should be able to adjust the font weight.
aye.. i found it, thanks man.
You sir have earned a subscriber within first couple of mins, I have watched so many tutorials for Avada nobody taught how to change the colours globally.
Thanks alot
And very kind of you to put an index in the description :)
Update : I cant find the STYLING tab in Avada 5.0.6 :(
On your menu go to Avada > Theme Options. It's slightly different but most things are the same.
Hello again. Do you know how to create a header menu? Thanks!
I talk about the header and menu settings starting at 33:35 in the video.
Hi, when I go into my home page, I do not have the Fusion Builder button to set things up as you are doing? Has this changed since you created this video do you know? Thanks
I figured it out, thanks.
Glad you got is resolved!
By chance are you going to do an update for the 5.0? I am on the secton for the sliders and it is different.
+Avery Collins I'm going to try and get one up for 5.9
What I can say is : WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Thanks a lot. Amazing.

I can´t find the fullwidth container. :(
This is awesome! Thanks for a job well done.

+Shahram Fakhimi Hmm I'm not sure what you mean. Is the module below the slider?
This video saved my life. Thank you so much
excellent tutorial - much appreciated -thank you
thanks for the tips man!
I'm using Avada 4.0.3 and the Appearace Menus are all different from this video (especially Fonts and Styling). Do you have an updated video?
I don't have an updated video yet. I'm waiting for Avada 5 to come out. It was supposed to be released over 3 months ago.... still waiting. The settings are primarily the same they just moved them around a bit. Fonts are under typogrphy. Most of the color settings are under Shortcode Styling

Do you have any tips anywhere on how to make an icon with font awesome on the fusion page builder? thanks
+felipe calle It's pretty simple. Just drag the font awesome element where you want it on the page. Use the Pen edit icon and choose the font and settings that you want. Is that what you mean?
+Real Website Hints got it, thanks again for the help
+Real Website Hints How do you change the color of the text on your mobile menu, mine is dark and you cant see the text
+Anne Huffman Thanks for reminding me! I wrote it up and then forgot to post it. Here is is! www.realwebsitehints.com/make-website-avada-theme/
is it possible to add "search widget" above header? or "sign in" icon?
There should be a search widget in the header already. If not then check the header or menu settings. You should also be able to add a sign in icon. When you are setting up the menu items you can choose the "menu first level style."
your tutorial was so awesome about revslider. its always the same

Are you talking about the white space behind the menu? or white space between the menu and the slider?
im talking about the white space behind the menu.
Watch the tutorial at 33:30 how to make the menu transparent
thank you so much:it works with fusion but not revolution slider....any idea why?
To make that function work the modules has to have negative margin applied to it so that the background will over lap. The Fusion slider probably has that css style built in. Glad you figured it out!

For example If I were to build a site for a clinic that was doing medical weight loss and there were specific things that we needed such as SOP or integrating patient information into other, I guess forms would be the best description, is that something you do?
We don't have to make a child theme when starting with this theme? Our changes wont be overwritten when we have to upgrade our theme?
The only time you need to worry about making a child theme is if you are going to modify the code of the theme. Anything you do in any theme in the settings area will not, or should not if it's made correctly, get over written when you update. You can see if your hosting allows you to have a test site or staging site. If not I can recommend one that does.
It's hard to say without seeing what your are doing. My guess is maybe you need to use a wider section / column for your text.
I just heard from them and they discovered that all of my line heights had defaulted to 0. Things have been buggy so I'm wondering what other defaults are messed up. Thanks for the reply.
