70s and 80s we were lucky to have been part of the best music to have ever been played. Feel sorry for the stuff they have to listen to today. We had this all the way to heavy metal and in between and it was all great!!!
I love this song. In 1978 it led to a very loving man whom I still love, but he has moved on. I guess that makes me the Lonesome Loser. Still, this song brings such sweet sweet memories. Thank you Men of the LRB for ALL YOUR SONGS, still loving them in 2021 when I'm 65.
The harmonies with Little River Band are just about some of the best I ever heard. A true legendary band they are. Another timeless masterpiece here that sounds great live.
LOL the drummer's hilarious! likes to check out the good looking chicks in the front row, cause once the lights come he can't see them! And the tidbit about Frank Zappa doing the sound check with the live audience is pretty cool!
i think Ilistened to this song so much, i started to know all the words, so I'd sing along. i had hopes someday that would be me. How ever.,I was a teenager, and had my dreams
"Anybody here familiar with the uploader "Real Music Observer"? His name is David J. Spuria and for years he was putting out videos hating on the original members of LRB - describing them as "losers" for the name debacle and "nothing special" in regards to their vocal and musical ability. He also made childish jibes about their names and historical significance, He was on the receiving end of some free cds and concert tickets from Wayne Nelson of the current "fake" line-up and subsequently praised the current line-up as "just as talented" as the originals and as heroes for continuing legacy. Fast forward three years and "Real Music Observer" has a change of heart and posts a video calling for the originals to be inducted into the HOF - Graeme Goble sees this video and thanks him for the video and agrees to an interview with David J Spuria (now uploaded). Now I'm pretty sure that Graeme would have had no idea of the opinions that Mr Spuria had expressed about LRB foe some years and Mr Spuria, realising that Graeme might see some of that content quickly removed about a dozen videos before he could be exposed for the two-faced phoney that he is. Spuria's "Real Music Observer" is nothing more than a long-winded nobody posting opinions about classic rock - with comments closed because he doesn't want to hear opposing opinion. He claims to have been a DJ at a radio station in the 80s and 90s and when I posted an email from that station saying that he was never employed by them he shut the comments down on his video for the first and final time. Mr Spuria hasn't worked for 15 years and it has been his plan to survive and support his family by doing these videos from home. His income is small and sporadic and he relies on his wife working full time to make ends meet. You would think 15 years is more than enough time to realise that he should just go and get a job and keep the videos as a hobby. Living in the richest nation on earth and begging for $1 on Patreon is a very bad look" *Nobody attacked his family or his son with "special needs" as he describes him, as he claims. He is lying and is making excuses for his poor behaviour in his videos - nobody even knew he had a wife or 3 year old child (at the time) until he claimed that his family was being attacked. He wasn't able to produce one email or comment that backed his claims. He then went on to make claims that he was suing individuals and had a "legal team" working on it.
I was just too darn young to see them back in the late 70s/early 80s, when they had this classic line-up and were on top of the world. I remember they played their hits over and over on the radio. As a young boy, I got to know their songs by heart because my dad always had the radio on. Fantastic memories from another time, now long gone, like this LRB line-up.
I remember my Mom playing Little River Band music when my brother & I were really small. We weren’t really even old enough to know one band from another, but I knew I loved the sound of the harmonies from this one (granted I didn’t know what harmonies were either) & could recognize them when played, especially “Night Owls,” one of my favorites songs. Around this time, “ Lonesome Loser” was played during an episode of one of our favorite tv shows - BJ & The Bear... I vividly remember when it came on & that I was so excited because I already knew & liked the song. “Lonesome Loser” became our favorite LRB song for decades (I believe still is my brother’s favorite). I’m in my mid 40’s now & still amazed by the band’s harmonies. LRB is still one of my favorite artists & listening to their music is as much a part of my life as breathing.
Amazing. Sounds better than the studio version. This band is woefully under appreciated and is pretty much absent on "classic rock" radio these days. Damn shame if you ask me.
I was so lucky to see these guys around 1979 or 1980!!! What a great era for music. Im old now but my memory is still good enough to know that we had the best music in the 70's and 80's!!!!!
habe to agree with a lot of you. saw them 40 yrs ago - how could they possibly be better than recordings, but they were. totally blown away!!!! never forgotten that concert !!!! still love them!
ABSOLUTELY 💯% AGREE! He and his [voice] were SEXY as hell...also the way he moved when he sang behind the mic, no gimmicks just PURE SOUL...the way REAL music is supposed to be sung, NOT LIKE TODAY'S SHIT! 😝 He's 79 yrs young these days with a little less hair and some crackle in his voice still managing to do some gigs, very few artists have ever or will ever last that long without that kind of AMAZING voice from the start. Btw, his name is spelled Shorrock*...just to clean it up a little for ya. 👍🏼😉
That’s because were thrown off a bit by Farnham taking the high harmony an no one else was able to carry Shorrock’s lead or base note harmony line. I prefer original like the Tom Johnston Doobies but Farnham is awesome. Not many with pipes like his.
I thought it would be impossible to make this song sound better live than the studio version because it was just so well produced and in a live situation you don´t have as many instruments and melodies like in the original recording, but these guys just nailed it, no acoustic guitar but the electric guitars just sound as good if not better, besides this is in a higher key than the studio version, these guys just take the concept of possible downsides of playing live and turn them into bennefits, amazing!!
Great band and music! Shame that the original band members cannot play their original music, It stinks and it reminds me of what happened to the band "Bad Finger". Always some shyster ruining something good!
this song is one of the most judgemental, insulting songs ever in history........basically calling about a third or maybe half the people in this country losers because they are not married with kids...no wonder so many from that era are on antidepressants
Nobody better vocally live than these guys. Total professionals and plenty of strong material.
Boston?
@ well they sure were up there too.
Awh, my teens and twenties, heaven in music, the best!!!! ❤❤❤
70’s and early 80’s ruled. The best music!!
I concur... You had to actually be talented back then. No computers to hide a horrible voice behind in those days.
For sure
REAL music. Real vocals. Real harmonies.
Damned straight. Only way to go!
Fox Theater Atlanta, Ga 1979 upper deck, front row. Best concert I have ever seen live.
70s and 80s we were lucky to have been part of the best music to have ever been played. Feel sorry for the stuff they have to listen to today. We had this all the way to heavy metal and in between and it was all great!!!
💯%‼️... Best times of my life! 🙆🏼♀️👍🏼
💯👍
Gold standard of harmonies. Wow.
You got that right ❤
Never knew they could sound this good live, what harmonies ! God Bless the 70's & early 80's music
Indeed!!! Uhhkay!!!
Awwww!!! God bless u !!! 🙏
Hmm, bonnie!!
The harmonies with Little River Band are just about some of the best I ever heard. A true legendary band they are. Another timeless masterpiece here that sounds great live.
Never a shortage of talent or band members rocking our world with LRB.
These guys were the EAGLES of Australia......Harmonies, Musicianship, GREAT LIVE BAND< I've seen them BOTH!
You must be a very happy guy. I’ve seen the Eagles live two times in Germany 🇩🇪
I'll be the first to say it...I HAVE heard about the lonesome loser! Heard all the facts and it indeed sounds like his M.O.
These years, I will always remember.
What an amazing band. Just so tight. I’m a huge metal fan, but this band is just incredible. The musicianship and harmonies are just mind blowing.
Lucky enough to have caught them live, insanely good in person and there's not many I can say that about out of seeing as many as I have.
The harmony this band gave was amazing...I was just a very little kid during that time, but I sure grew up on this music, and I STILL LOVE this music!
These guys are GOOD!
Thanks David If interested, please check out our new online museum www.shorrockbirtlesgoble.com
These guys are gold!!
This is the tightest version of this song! They’re on!
How ever.,I was a teenager, and had my dreams
theses are the guys there are no others
David Briggs, the one who wrote the song was already gone. Incidentally the lead guitarist here is the one who wound up owning the name.
@@shannonlucas2980 ugh..Wayne Nelson..greedy, no morals,or values of the REAL LRB. God will repay
I love this song but this live version is just racing! I don't know how they're keeping up. Amazing.
Very few bands with this much talent
LRB & Chicago ...
On my playlist and I seem to always hit replay. Absolutely love this band.
I Love this song it is one of my favorites ❤.😊
Brilliant intro about sound check by drummer❤

Always wondered what happened to those guys.
At University of Florida in Gainesville, back to back concert Chicago and LRB. Unforgettable.
At first, I thought this was a studio recording because the vocals sounded so good!
Great songs have a hook and this one grabs me with the harmony first note on.
Incredible audio

WELL SAID! 👍🏼🫡
if i understand the drummer D.Pellicci .. he says they had a few minutes to do the sound check right ??
yup. since it would be the only way to really measure the equipment against the actual sound of the audience..
This song was written about me to tee
No auto tune needed.
US Navy Bootcamp 1979 July. Started A Great Chapter in my life. This song brings all that to the front. 🤣❤️🙏🏼
oh when they sang soemthing Billie Ellishe can only wish
Thanks Charlie50201. If interested, please check out our new online museum www.shorrockbirtlesgoble.com
So agree. They can also play more than Billie whoever the hell is can do!
Harmonies this good take a lot of work.

I love Glenn and his pee pee dance.
Glen is my cousin
And I've never met him
LRB
❤reminds me of my ex husband. Lmfao!
Once Dave Briggs left the band it started to fracture and eventually wentbto shit. The combo of Briggs, Gobals ,Birttals and, Schorrock was legendary.
Great band and music! Shame that the original band members cannot play their original music, It stinks and it reminds me of what happened to the band "Bad Finger". Always some shyster ruining something good!
