I mean a pretty big awnser is that their a round blob of a fish who's daily activites include swimming in the same style as a bouncing tumbleweed, attempting to eat shrimp, and the fact that they are defined by the mentality of either trying to nibble you away or to give you a small wet hug.

They are actually using them in Salmon farms No because these cuties are VERY beneficial 😊 they eat the lice that harm the salmon!🤗 so no more pesticides ❤️

It's actually the Atlantic lumpsucker (Cyclopterus lumpus) that are used in salmon farms, not the Pacific spiny lumpsucker (Eumicrotremus orbis). But yes, they are cute and beneficial :)

What a pity that you have no better footages or pics of them. No wonder that photographeres are after them. ♥️

I just use a simple gopro, nothing fancy. Some people have much better cameras than me! But yes, they can be hard to find and photograph since they are so small.

Fish with face like that, look like they are deep in thoughts. Entirely pointless empty thoughts, but thoughts none the less.
    Give them a monocle. 🧐

I'm starting to look into lumpsuckers and information is VERY sparce. Some people claim that there is more than one species or that they get huge, some say that they are used in land based salmon farms in the tens of thousands to prevent pests while also being harvested for their egg's for caviar. I don't know what end of the spectrum to believe because if they're being used for food I would have no qualms with trying to keep a pair in an aquarium. I'm a responsible fish keeper so they would be kept properly, but I don't know their requirements exactly let alone where to get them. If you have any insight I would appreciate it. Thank you for the video!

On the West Coast of Canada, we have Pacific spiny lumpsuckers (Eumicrotremus orbis). These are the fish shown in my video. They can reach up to 12.7 cm (5 in) based on the Coastal Fishes of the Pacific Northwest book by Andy Lamb and Phil Edgell. However, the biggest I have ever seen was probably the size of a large green grape. The East Coast of Canada has lumpfish (also called lumpsuckers) (Cyclopterus lumpus). These are the ones used for salmon farming to control sea lice and for caviar. They can get much bigger. Females can get up to 50 cm (20 in) and can weigh up to 11 lbs (5 kg). I don't think any aquarium stores sell Pacific spiny lumpsuckers to keep as pets. If you want to capture one in the wild and keep it in a tank, you would most likely require a permit from DFO. Hope this helps :)

I work in the fishing industry and I can tell you that the two main species on the west coast are the spiny lumpsucker (from this video) which get to be about golf ball sized at the absolute max. The other is the smooth lumpsucker which gets to be about grapefruit sized. There are also some less common species that to my understanding live in deep water.
Both would definitely require a refrigeration system, and as far as diet goes I'm sure they would be fine with small shrimp. There's a guy from Norway who has a channel called Cold Water Tanks who could probably give you some advice in that regard. I know that once upon a time there were a handful of divers on the west coast who had the proper permits to collect aquarium fish in the wild, and charged top dollar to collect odd things for enthusiasts, but I don't know if those people are still around.

Are these able to be kept in aquariums? I know in the USA, we cant keep the ones in Washington state. I know that the big ones we can keep, but you kinda need a big tank for them due to their size. I have an refrigerator that would be perfect for them. lol

I'm not sure if they can be kept in aquariums. If yes, then you would probably need some type of permit.
