I think she may have brought the best in him, a tender, softer side, but in the end, his adulterous nature won against their love. I think she may have brought the best in him, a tender, softer side, but in the end, his adulterous nature won against their love. What's both comical and sad is that the woman he left Romy for and then married turned out to be what he didn't want and he later in life regretted his choices... it's such a tragic story :(

And even if she did that, I 100% believe he would have still cheated and probably left her anyway lol It's strange because, to me, he never seemed to really have any real chemistry with Nathalie, their relationship looks strange, at least from outside, like they are two people co-parenting and that's it. In general, he is a very flawed individual harboring some quite obvious trauma from his childhood/early youth, but at the same time, I stop myself and ponder: what would I, we have been like if we were born looking like him? Being *that* stunning has to separate you from the others to a certain extent and shapes the person you become in a unique manner. Can one even become anything other than a narcissist if born with those looks? Haha Especially in his 20s, during the Plein Soleil days, he was a literal walking, talking Michelangelo painting and he received extra preferrential treatment from the world accordingly. What you said is very poignant, about loving yourself first and not losing who you are in another person, no matter how much, you love them, Delon certainly did that, howeeeveeer he expected otherwise from his women, don't you think? He expected fidelity and even said he wants to be with someone who loves him the way he loves himself, how would that even be possible? 🤔 I will contradict you on one point though, is that he could have been faithful to one woman only if he had met his match, not necessarily physically (because that would be extremely difficult, very, very few people, male or female, are that beautiful), but psychologically. A woman who would know to play him like a fiddle, knowing when to administer pain, when to act like a lover and when slightly like a mother. He has very obvious deep wounds from the past when he was a boy, I'm actually surprised he never got over his pride and adressed them with therapy. A professional psychological analysis on him would be so intriguing.
Also, he may have had many women, but I read that with every single one of them, he still felt lonely inside. So there is a core to him that no one was able to reach and I think that is due to his traumatic past. He reaaally needed a therapist.
One thing I wonder though, you said he never spoke badly of the women he was with, even after ending with them, which is the gentleman thing to do, but how would he like for his own daughter to be treated by the man she's in a relationship with the way he treated the women he was involved with? Because it seems, ironically, that he loves his daughter the most of all his children (funnily enough, she almost looks nothing like him lol).

I get the impression from reading the comments on videos about Romy Schnider ,that for some of her admirers, everything stopped for them after the finish of the film SWIMMING POOL.
They ignore the fact that she made 31 more movies after it ,including another one with Alain Delon, THE ASSASSINATION OF TROTSKY and that for all of the pain and sorrow he calused her in the time together and the breakup of their relationship, Romy still said that Delon was the only man she could rely on to be there when she needed help .
The trauma of their breakup didn't prohit her from staying in touch with Alain Delon for the rest of her life.
