This is a Re-upload! This first video got hit with a copyright claim, so I re-editted it again (and again and again) so hopefully this one should stay up.
If you've ever played Hogwarts Legacy, you will notice that the wand movement for Avada Kedavra is a lightning bolt shaped. That's why his scar is shaped like that. 5:15
3:58:55: "I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death." I've always felt this was him putting a stopper in death for Draco. This quote always comes to mind for me when I watch this scene.
In Chambers of Secrets, I’m not sure how it is written in the book, but in the movie, when Harry gets sucked into the diary, there is a date of June or July. That date is after the end of the school year. So it doesn’t make sense as a why there were students still there.
1:46:00 I heard a theory that the scream you hear is in fact the scream from Harry’s mom. And the dementor felt Voldemort inside of Harry, that’s why it attacked. It’s the last thing he heard his mother say, “Harry!” as she was killed, and since that is the last time Harry heard his moms voice, it’s what the Dementor tried to take.
17:47 Hermione Actually Was Nearly Sorted Into Ravenclaw But The Sorting Hat Ultimately Decided Gryffindor Because Hermione Didn’t Embody Every Trait A Ravenclaw Does, Only The Knowledge Of One, But Every Other Trait Is Of A Gryffindor
The Quidditch Guy you talked about was played by will Theakson who quit acting in 2003 studied french and seems to be working for music labels now. That was quite fun to look up 😂😂😂😂😂 he is 40 now!
The injury to Ron's head in the first movie/ chess match, was CG. Had to have a reason for Ron to be unable to go on. Ian Hart, who played Quirrell, also did Voldemort's voice in the first movie. I can't recall who did the face acting. They hadn't found a Voldemort they wanted, so just worked with what they had. Though Ian did a good job.
He did get hit with that chess piece. I can't remember who said it - I'm pretty sure it was the director. I think they added the cut on his head, though.
Ugh. Having to re-edit for copyright is SUCH a pain. I can't imagine the frustration for a video of this length! That's the TRUE challenge of this marathon; not the watching session itself, but just the damn editing!
My grandma's middle name was Myrtle! Also when a little kid I got a cute little story book about a turtle named Myrtle. In general flower names are fairly common, but Myrtle is far less common than it used to be. I guess it's "old fashioned".
Harry recieved an Exceeds Expectations grade in his potions OWL in his fifth year. For his chosen career path as an auror, he would have to take potions as a NEWT exam in his seventh year. Snape declared as potions master that he would not teach NEWT level potions to anyone who got below an Outstanding in their OWLs, the highest grade. Since Harry received a second highest grade in potions, he would be barred from taking potions if Snape still taught it. Slughorn, however, is more lenient as a teacher and finds it acceptable to accept students who received both Outstanding and Exceeds Expectations in their OWLs so they can progress to NEWT level potions. So no, it's not a remedial class of potions, it is the advanced class, it's just the professor allowed the standard to be more lenient to allow more students in the class.
Yo! I’m 1:06:00 … taking a short break to like and subscribe! I’m enjoying your commentary. It’s different from a first time reactor. And I agree with your thoughts on Chamber of Secrets. It’s hated and very underrated indeed. There’s several things you said that i wanted to comment on, but was too lazy. I don’t remember all of them but one thing is you asking why Hermione wasn’t sorted into Ravenclaw. I think it’s because she uses her academics to gain attention and praise, rather than just wanting to learn just to know a topic. That’s a Griffindor trait. Anyways, back to your video!
Actually, Hermione would have been 15 at the Jule ball. It's really confusing, but apparently instead of going by year, they go by having had their birthday before school starts. So Hermione would have been 11 when she started school, but since her birthday is some time in September/October, she'd turn 12. So in this year, she was 14 when they traveled to school, but now she's 15. It makes 17 to 15 a bit less messed up. That's why she can take her apperation test with Ron in their 6th year, instead of waiting like Harry had to.
In case no one else said it and it isn’t mentioned later in the video it’s not a lightning bolt it’s the shape of the way you cast avada kadavera which happens to look like a lightning bolt which is such a cool touch
3:42:43 they explain in the books why you can't take it all the time 3:43:15 it was Voldemort not Snape that won Liquid Luck previously and he used it to get the information about Horcruxes from Slughorn
I'm ssooo excited for this! 💛🖤 I'm just starting this while I'm working today, and I'm just getting started. However, talking about movies/shows that put in the effort and care - check out the Fallout series, it was beautifully done! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I thought you'd be Slytherin, but the cup put me off as I thought for a second that it was Ravenclaw colors, but yes, you are Slytherin afterall. Thanx foythe fun video.
Third Movie: "Imagine they had cast Robert Pattison for that small role." Well, since Robert Pattison didn't make any Twilight movies until AFTER Harry Potter 4, it would be very reasonable for Robert Pattison to play a bit role in harry Potter 3.
2:24:21 Magic is a spectrum, harry being an enigma in a sense that his ability to love and make friendships was what could beat voldemort. It Gave him an edge so to speak. So when the death eaters aka voldys inner circle came to ransack the after party of the world cup, not any regular Joe or Sally could contend with them. It would be like putting a 10% wizard against a 70% wizard. They can "try" but would most likely die.
I think it's funny that the entire first year's winter , the twins are throwing snowballs at the back of Quirrell's head - - right into Voldemort's face. Verne Shroyer? I hope you are joking. That was Warwick Davis - - Wicket from Return ff the Jedi.
@@ManiacsWord Yes, but he was referring to Flitwick which Warwick Davis played the entire time. The reason he switches from the white hair and beard was an allergy to the glue.
@@ManiacsWord LOL, he referred to Flitwick just as they get into Charms the first time, I was writing about the snowballs (which was in the book) when he mentioned it and I looked up, surprised.
Fist book, Slytherin was cheating the entire time on the house points. There were points taken from Gryffindor in questionable circumstances. And the House Cup had already been won by Slytherin seven years in a row, so this was a break to Slytherin's "lucky" streak, read "cheat". Now, I am a loyal Slytherin through and through, have been since I read the first book. But I feel taking the cheated points away from the cheaters and awarding them to the ones they were "stolen" from was fair.
Why didn't they put their exam results in the film?. Honestly bizarre. Harry didn't get the grade to carry on with potions under Snape but did under slughorn so he's just carrying on with it.
Moaning Myrtle flirting with Harry makes me uncomfortable for two reasons: the actor is in her 30s. And the character died when she was 11 (eleven). Yes, a first year. Ick.
@@oougahersharr No, she actually wasn’t. The book never specifies her age (I checked): but an interview with the actress playing her says she’s 14. Just look it up on the wiki.
@@Jamestopboy Thank you for your correction. I was just checking as well and couldn't find it. I swear somewhere I read that someone said "a first year died." But I was, apparently, wrong. 🙂
The young actor who played Tom at the orphanage is also Ralph Fiennes real nephew too, so of course he was insanely impressive for just seeing him a few minutes. He has had a pretty great career since then especially the last few years!
