yes yes yes, i used to live with a carpenter and he always complained that he felt boring around me (a musician and painter) and i said , no way!!! you are an artist with wood - and he really was - he would make entire wardrobes etc all tongue and groove and design it himself - no one does that anymore
Wow - --i made overtone flutes thanks to you . . . . and now just found your vids again. how much fun it would be to hang out. over here i started alot of drum groups etc, but mostly people wouldn't show up, or they are too shy to make weird noises. I had the most fun with a fellow named Zak who would show up and we would find broken things all over the park and play them. bike wheels are good.
Absolutely brilliant Nicholas! Thanks so much for sharing this one. I learned such a lot - the ceramic xylophone is amazing and I had never heard of the Baschet Brothers before. Thanks again mate, I really enjoyed this.
This is incredible!! Amazed by how many things you got made with everyone, what an awesome experience! Looking forward to hearing some more music out of these
Hey! I'm a big fan of this channel and the instruments you make really inspire me. Recently I've been making idiophonic propane tank drums called "hank" drums, I have made 3 of my own with a total of 5 scales (2 have a scale on each side). They're really beautiful and inexpensive, and you could also probably give them pickups of some kind because they are vibrating steel tongues. Thought you might take a look at them, they seem like they might be kind of up your alley! Merci beaucoups :)
This is the second video I have seen of you. I am really enjoying your channel. This is awesome the ways you and others come up with to make instruments out of .... well.. nothing basically.
@@NicolasBras -- i just made a Tagel harpa out of a broken coffee table ; and when looking for help and instruction found a video of this elder fellow that shows how he made a hurdy gurdy all from wood.(there's probably more that show how the parts go here: ua-cam.com/video/nGJH4FznsoQ/v-deo.html
Thanks, I loved this! Question - with the xylophone slate pieces, why did you shape the ends into points, rather than just leaving them square (or rounded)?
At 3:59 , there are pipes , are they copper , bronze , brass or steel , the two percussions are sounded gamelan like , impressive really ! Please tell me the pipe material and the alloy information , thank you very much !
Fan-pop-tastic !! Here's an idea though. Looking at those square tube clay bricks you used for a Klong put, could you make a double Didge with those I wonder? :o)
Not to disrespect your work. But these instruments sound a lot clearer than yours usually tend to. It may be because of the materials used and the acoustics in these halls propably. You could easily put most of these with a classical orchestra. Again not to be mean or so I like the interesting sounds of your creative creations 😅 PS: also very nice playing demonstrations of yours
On your channel, I've seen so many places so much better for learning than any american college, it's honestly shocking. I did nothing like this. I did nothing memorable, except study abroad at a university in Japan. Their campus was more beautiful, their food was 10x better, they had a piano room, their air had no smog, there was no litter, there were no crimes. I learned more, I remember more of it. And yet it cost less than half of what a semester in America costs. I started bleeding out of my weewee and went to the emergency room and got a full body scan, whole visit cost $100. kidney stone from drinking only coffee and tea because there were so many flavors to try. if it happened in America, it would have been a life-altering bill. Kinda like my college bill is altering my life. I have a computer science degree and I tape up empty boxes for a living. Sometimes I get to put things into the boxes. Do not EVER go to college in the united states. If you are in college, quit IMMEDIATELY. I should have quit as soon as I knew that professors were worse at teaching than youtubers, but I stayed because I thought my degree would be worth something. IT WAS NOT.
Sorry to hear that, all the schools in France are not as good as those who invited me, but we're quite lucky. And the schools in my videos are public and free!
I love that your pvc clarinet sounds so good UA-cam is like, “yeah these videos have clarinets in them”.
This is fantastic! I love it when non musicians get involved with music making. Music should be for everyone to make.

it's super cool you got to make instruments with all the different trades. would love to hear something that made use of them together
He is just cool
so inspiring these workshops should be in all schools

Underrated channel
I'm working on it!
So good. Schools should make all their instruments for music with the students and teach trades simultaneously
Amazing. You found some new instruments. I especially liked the threaded rods acting like rain sticks.
this one seems super easy to make too, I'm gonna have to try it...

This is the second video I have seen of you. I am really enjoying your channel. This is awesome the ways you and others come up with to make instruments out of .... well.. nothing basically.
Thank you and welcome!
You do a lot of precise, uncomplicated things, any chance you do more complicated stuff? I'd love to see your take on a hurdy gurdy/wheel fiddle.
I would love to try one day!

Quelle idee de fou!
j'adore se que tu fait !
I love your videos! Thanks for the joy!
Why don’t that make more instruments like xylophones or marimbas but out of stone? It’s such a cool, snappy sound!
Hell yeah! Looks fun.
Bravo les gars !
Wow, it's so inspiring, amazing.

Incroyable!

looking forward to the next episode!!!
Fan-pop-tastic !!

Great video, thanks. What is the foam you used beneath the tone bars?
I don't know, we took what we found!
amazing!
Thanks!
Very nice! But where to get those stones?
Waaa
please please please make a sample thing of your stuff it would be incredible
Stay tuned, that could happen really quick!
please make an acoustic piano...
I would very much pay to see French Jason Momoa build and use an instrument in person
Fascinating. Your videos could be 8 hours long and I wouldn't complain.
"Bring me a small lyre."
"I didn't do it, I wasn't even there! The check is in the mail!"
I would so go to your instrument building school.
wow
Jack of all instruments
Tidy! 😁
ya that weird thing at 5:15 !!
The slate keyboard makes me think of a different instrument called the lithophone
"Heyyyy...Eyeball Kid!"
“We also made this…” at 5:00
you didn't go back to the string instruments!

This should be the only acceptable reason any construction project goes past the completion date.
I got mad by this video
Because i saw so many things that i try on my own
Hey Dude i would love to meet you
Thanks! Tell me if you come to Paris!
I think you would be a better dad than I am
What
With construction workers? Wait. You aren't seriously gonna have a go at the skin flute, are you? I was just joking.
