  • Machinery diagnostics job has been done for the 11 MW Seimens Energy and Automation Steam turbine made 1986, as the turbine didn't have proximity probes or keyphasor so velocity transducers has been used to collect the vibration data from the bearing cap and we managed to collect( Bode plot, polar plot, Cascade full Spectrum, Orbits, time wave form, amplitude and phase data).
    For speed reference we used the Emerson optical tachometer CSI408 battery pack, and one more tachometer has been connected to the generator shaft as we have gearbox and 2 speeds, my beloved 😀 ADRE 208 from Bently Nevada has been used in the data collection.
    The turbine max/ operating speed was 7650 rpm, and at 6620 rpm the reflective tape on the turbine shaft fly off 😳 and after long time in the slow roll and preparation it is very hard decision to take the turbine again to the rest and turned off, so I used the option of simulated speed keyphasor so I can still check the vibration levels at the full speed and with load changes from zero to 10 MW by 1 MW increase at a time, in addition to the Orbits and vibration spectrum and TWF which still can be collected.
    Finally it was interesting experience to collect vibration data using velocity transducers, and tools from BN and Emerson in a amazing integration between different brands 😀
