Despite sounding nostalgic and almost melancholic, this song is ultimately an incredibly optmistic one. It dreams of such a brilliant future in which we dream of our home planet for we have explored space tirelessly.
We will do it. One day, very soon, we will raise our heads and look around and say, "What happened, did the sky crack open? Why are people suddenly spilling out in all directions?" Well, it wasn't that isolated. There were ways for records of western music to get in. This music might not have been approved by officials but it was known to the people. There also were western musicians and musical bands that were allowed into the USSR.

Idiotic leadership made Soviet people naive. After Stalins death and with Khrushchevs treasonous speach against Stalin the base of Soviet society was disturbed in the roots. Revisionism became tolerated and with it began degradation of USSR. And yet in spite of all that USSR couldve still exist today if CPSU wasnt sabotaged from within. Kuusinen brought Andropov. Lyrics for our English-speaking friends: Earth in window, Earth in window, The Earth is visible in the window. Just like a son miss his mother, x2 We miss the Earth, she is the one. But the stars nevertheless, x2 A little closer but are as cold as ever. And just like in hours of eclipse, x2 We wait for light and see the Earthly dreams. Chorus: And it's not the cosmodrome's roar we see in our dreams, Not this icy blueness. We dream of grass, grass outside our homes, Green, green grass. We fly by orbits, by paths less travelled. The space is stitched with meteors. Well justified are the risk and courage, The music of Space barging in our business talk. In some kind of matte haze the Earth in the window, Evening dusk blends with early dawn. And son is missing his mother, x2 Mother is waiting for her son, And the Earth is waiting for her sons too. Chorus x3
Poetic english for anyone (Not a translation by any means, but meant to convey the song to native english speakers without literal translation becoming a problem) Earth out a rocket window, Earth out a rocket window, Earth out a rocket window can be seen. Like, son who misses mother, Like, son who misses mother, We miss the Earth, because its where we've been. But stars still nevertheless, But stars still nevertheless, Are growing closer, but are forever cold. And like in times of darkness, And like in times of darkness, We wait for light, and Earth's dreams to unfold! We do not dream of outer-space kosmodromes! -Or of this freezing, dark, aquamarine! We dream of grass that grows outside of our homes! -A greener grass, a grass thats always green! And as we orbitally fly, Through all ways unidentified, Quick asteroids do streak and strafe our paths! For all our risks are justified, And with this music from the sky, It flows into our business talk and laughs! Some kind of haze is lingering, Earth out that window sings to me, It's the evening and the earliest of dawn! Like son who misses mother, Like son who misses mother, She waits for us, because to her we're drawn! We do not dream of outer-space kosmodromes! -Or of this freezing, dark, aquamarine! We dream of grass that grows outside of our homes! -A greener grass, a grass thats always green!
For me this song is about the wish for peaceful idyllic existence, in contrast with the demands of ambition. A reminder not to sacrifice too much for somebody else's mad and inhumane ambition.
This video sequence made me cry because I remembered the fate and outstanding characteristics of the Buran and Energia space complexes. By God, as soon as the Communists left, we in Russia cannot even closely reproduce something like this.

There's a saying that I think most of us have heard that a soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him. As Russians, we've taken that idea to heart. Everything we do is for a love of home. We fight fiercer than anyone because victory is the only way home. When you will spend 6 months in the spaceship as the Soviet Cosmonauts did you would understand their wish to touch grass near their home much better.

Imagine friends - we could explore new planets if we didn't spend money on war. Peace to you earthlings.
peace through deterrence is an unfortunate truth.
Paradoxically reason we can explore the stars in the first place because we developed the technology trying to kill each other.
It started because of a (cold) war, where we first focused into weapon tech. And then space started getting tangled in our mess.

2:04 Буран и Мрiя.

Lyrics for our English-speaking friends:
Earth in window, Earth in window,
The Earth is visible in the window.
Just like a son miss his mother, x2
We miss the Earth, she is the one.
But the stars nevertheless, x2
A little closer but are as cold as ever.
And just like in hours of eclipse, x2
We wait for light and see the Earthly dreams.
Chorus:
And it's not the cosmodrome's roar we see in our dreams,
Not this icy blueness.
We dream of grass, grass outside our homes,
Green, green grass.
We fly by orbits, by paths less travelled.
The space is stitched with meteors.
Well justified are the risk and courage,
The music of Space barging in our business talk.
In some kind of matte haze the Earth in the window,
Evening dusk blends with early dawn.
And son is missing his mother, x2
Mother is waiting for her son,
And the Earth is waiting for her sons too.
Chorus x3
Poetic english for anyone (Not a translation by any means, but meant to convey the song to native english speakers without literal translation becoming a problem)
Earth out a rocket window,
Earth out a rocket window,
Earth out a rocket window can be seen.
Like, son who misses mother,
Like, son who misses mother,
We miss the Earth, because its where we've been.
But stars still nevertheless,
But stars still nevertheless,
Are growing closer, but are forever cold.
And like in times of darkness,
And like in times of darkness,
We wait for light, and Earth's dreams to unfold!
We do not dream of outer-space kosmodromes!
-Or of this freezing, dark, aquamarine!
We dream of grass that grows outside of our homes!
-A greener grass, a grass thats always green!
And as we orbitally fly,
Through all ways unidentified,
Quick asteroids do streak and strafe our paths!
For all our risks are justified,
And with this music from the sky,
It flows into our business talk and laughs!
Some kind of haze is lingering,
Earth out that window sings to me,
It's the evening and the earliest of dawn!
Like son who misses mother,
Like son who misses mother,
She waits for us, because to her we're drawn!
We do not dream of outer-space kosmodromes!
-Or of this freezing, dark, aquamarine!
We dream of grass that grows outside of our homes!
-A greener grass, a grass thats always green!

hierba verde, verde
Volamos a mis órbitas, caminos ininterrumpidos
Tarde y madrugada
Syn grustit o materia, syn grustit o materia
hierba verde, verde

There's a saying that I think most of us have heard that a soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him. As Russians, we've taken that idea to heart. Everything we do is for a love of home. We fight fiercer than anyone because victory is the only way home. We lead the world in sciences so that we can make our home even stronger and more prosperous.
