[S1E03] - Ha Giang Loop by motorbike - Why you should do it in 5 days, not 3!

- The best experience of Vietnam is doing the Ha Giang Loop by motorbike or scooter. We rented our bikes at Style Motorbikes for 5 days. That was a good choice: We didn't had to rush through the route to get back in time!

Spectacular scenery with lovely local people. I think you're right about the length of this trip. Countless people have said they end up stopping at so many glorious vistas that they wish they had more time to really enjoy each spot they stop at and enjoy "the moment". I used to live and work in VN and I never did get a chance to do the Ha Giang Loop and regret it but I loved my life there riding the scooter everywhere. It's the most unique feeling of freedom in the world.
Come back to Vietnam and Vietnam always welcomes you❤
$70 per day for a motorcycle in Vietnam?
You definitely got ripped off. By now, every tourist should know the Vietnamese is notoriously known for scamming and ripping off. So, don’t be a victim!
@@nocancelcultureaccepted9316 vietnamese people are one of the best people in the world, they always help you whenever...and if you don't know anything then shut your mouth
@@nocancelcultureaccepted9316. You misread the information and made an unfair comment about Vietnamese people! He even put $17 per day on the screen, not $70. What is wrong with you?
@@nocancelcultureaccepted9316 bro, 2 seconds in he said the rent could be $9
Ha Giang loop have a beautiful vallage, they call it is "Lô Lô Chải Village"
👍 you are right,if you can't ride don't!
Amazing !
That’s great experience for everyone wants to do Hà giang loops
What an awesome getaway! Best way to to release stress!
They are truly Incredible views!!!
wow great video ❤
Hello Ha Giang my hometown thank you for your video wish you a lot of fun in Vietnam
thanks fabulous!
Wow lovely video.
Bạn yên tâm lái xe an toàn, du lịch tự do ở việt nam..
really beautiful trip !
Thanks so much for this beautiful video. Lovely drone work and I like your calm commentary. I'm thinking to do this in a few weeks,so it's great this is so recent, to see the road conditions. Think I'll go pillion with a guide. Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback! Although a guide might be nice, just know that there aren't a lot of intersections so with google maps you won't really get lost. We were really happy driving it ourselves but that might differ from person to person. You are going to enjoy it anyways, have fun!
@@culartravel I usually travel solo- travelled a lot of rough back roads in Indonesia during a decade in Indonesia- (where I can speak enough language to get around and driving on the left of the road, which is what I'm used to ;) My interest in a guide isn't for directions- - but for translation, explanation, and being able to relax about road conditions etc with someone who's done the route frequently. And as I'll be doing it solo, for company/safety in case of anything that might happen. I'm in my 60s so not as strong as I used to be :) I'll be following your vids in future, I like your style :)
Doing this in a couple weeks, I think I better rent a dual sport. 😅 Great video.
Good video, doing this trip soon.
You will have a blast! I would really want to go back and do the whole north of Vietnam from left to right on a bike.
Ok, I'm convinced, I'll do it in 5 days instead of 3 😅
7:42 soooo amazinggggg, spectacularrrrrrrrrr, very very beautifilllllllllllllllllllllllll
Really nice drone footages and background relaxing music. Thanks for sharing! What is your drone model?
Thanks! DJI mini 3 pro! Love it :)
I didn't have abs, I fell down 😂, seriously!
great video and incredible views. I hope I can do this loop one day. I really enjoyed the video. one question about the license: can you use an international driving license there or you have to get a new license there? also did you pay any money for deposit when you rented the bikes? I think it's good to mention the prices in the video.
Thanks for the feedback Mehdi! I will add the deposit info to the description: Either passport or $1000. Unfortunately that last thing you will receive back in cash. Yes you can use an International License (they won't ask though, for insurance good to have).
@@culartravel Unless your country specifically signed the 1968 Vienna Convention, then you cannot legally drive there. This means the US, Europeans, Australians, etc., are all driving there illegally. Some cops may look the other way, be more lenient, or take bribes, but that doesn't mean it is legal to drive there even with an international driving permit, which most foreigners are unaware of. Google it and you will see.
@@doodahgurlie - is the Vienna Convention based on country allies or just driving on left / right hand side based? Or something else?
Great video mate what mount and action camera did you you use while riding the motorbike?
Thanks! Because I don't have my own helmet I use this easy to use mount to apply to different helmets: amzn.eu/d/4gLiipf
And a GoPro 10 as camera.
Stunning views , what is the best month to do the loop ?
End of February till end of April for a pleasant 20°C, May-July it can be very hot. Most won't recommend during the rain season July to end of september. We did this in the end of September. December and January can be very cold🥶
chào mừng đến Việt nam
Cảm ơn ❤️! Địa điểm yêu thích của bạn ở đất nước bạn là gì?
Hi! Great video! I heard you need to leave passport with them?
That's correct, or a $1000 deposit which you get back in VND cash, so yea passport is easier.
Nicely done. Which month was this?
Begin oktober, still in the rain season! Very lucky with the weather so apart from January where it can be really cold, it's almost doable all year around!
Verry good
You can do Ha giang to cao bang in 5 days. That's the route i would take if i had 5 days. You need to drive from hanoi. You'll see untouched non tourist vietnam this way. Much better!
I'm really sad we didn't plan more time for this, will definitely come back and do the whole north from left to right another time..
@@culartravel I'm am doing 2 weeks north in March starting from Hanoi. I'm doing Hanoi-Son La-Sapa-Ha Giang-Cao Bang-Ba be lake-Hanoi. Can't wait!
You showed some spectacular views. The landscape there is absolutely magnificent, for sure. But please make sure you don't tell people it's okay to drive there as for the majority of foreigners, it's actually illegal to do so (most of the countries did not sign the 1968 Vienna Convention with Vietnam). Yes, you can get away with it or bribe your way through, but know that you're still doing it illegally and if stopped, don't blame the cops for trying to do their jobs.
Not entirely true, a lot of countries did sign the agreement, atleast a lot in Europe. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Road_Traffic . As this is not a 'how to drive (legally) in Vietnam' video, I encourage everyone to go here and find there way to (legally) drive in Vietnam.
@@culartravel I'll give you that, but a lot of people driving there are Americans, Canadians, Australians, etc., whose country did not sign it. For the countries that did sign it, your IDP is only valid for the class it's issued for, which means if your IDP wasn't issued for a motorcycle in your home country, then it's not valid in Vietnam. You see many people learning to ride there for the first time or aren't highly experienced.
@@doodahgurlie Yes, reason why I got a motorcycle license before traveling :). To be honest, it's everyone's own responsibility, some people need to learn it the hard way. As long as SEA is being flexible for it than it won't stop so I don't mind. Somehow this is also a beauty of the country. In Europe people would call me crazy for not wearing proper motorcycle gear for example. Safety matters, to the degree the country or the culture is willing to enforce.

Where is that waterfall btw? Thanks!

The phone holder on the bike was provided by bike rental?
Yes! Everything in terms of gear & equipment is from the rental company.
Cool! Thanks dude!
Looks like there is no skydiving service there😂
That would be epic! Not sure if there are any good landing locations :)
which is best weather sep or oct ? and when it was while you there ? thanks.
September is the last month of the rain season in the north. We were there at the beginning of October. De episode before this one we had rain in SaPa and on the route one day short period of rain. So October is better!
@@culartravel thanks for replying, so i will apply my vacation end of sep 😍👍🏼
@@3zoOoz14 enjoy!!
So beautiful
$17/day is a rip-off!
Well if you know a rental company in HaGiang that rents out motorbikes (Honda CB250cc) for a cheaper price and in a good condition then please share it with us so other travelers know where to go to 👍
You are so cheap, even with Vietnamese standard. It is a Honda CB250, not a 110cc scooter😂😂😂
$70 per day for a motorcycle in Vietnam?
You definitely got ripped off. By now, every tourist should know the Vietnamese is notoriously known for scamming and ripping off. So, don’t be a victim!
No, $17! :) See video description as well.
what are you talking about 70$, he said 17$/day. you should watch the video again
you envy our country!
