Many times in many ways
god spoke to our fathers through the prophets
but in these last days
he has spoken to us through his son
he's the one that he appointed
to be the heir of all things
and he also created the whole world through him
he is the radiance of the glory of god
and the exact imprint of his nature
and he upholds the universe by the word of his power
that my friends
is the opening to the book of Hebrews
one of the most profound passages ever penned
and it tells us that
God has been making every effort to reveal his nature
to people but because his nature is so powerful
the energy in God is so intense
because by his Word
he sustains and upholds the whole universe
including all the stars
with all of their thermonuclear reactions going on
constantly: that energy is in God
and he has to get it and he has to transmit it to us
how can he do that he can do that by radiance
just as the radiation comes from the sun and warms us
rather than consuming us
Jesus Christ is the radiance of the Glory of God
and enables us to experience God's goodness
and his kindness in a way that is not destructive
so think about your steak in the fire
it'll get consumed put it at a safe distance
and radiance comes up
and turns that steak into something tasty
and attractive so it is with us
when God's radiance Jesus Christ
comes and touches our life
then we become something that is tasty
and attractive to God and to other people
