  • Ron Paulk style tool trailer
    This is my nearly complete 2020 cargo pro stealth 7x14x7 tandem axel aluminum trailer. 7000 gvw.
    I have been working on this intermittently for about 8-9 months. We have been using it for approximately a month . We do small to medium sized remodeling jobs. It has already been a production booster.
    I took a lot of ideas from you tubers.
    Specifically :
    Taken5875. Honestly he was the start down the you tube rabbit hole.
    Ron Paulk I bought his plans but modified to suit my needs. Ron’s plans and videos were a huge asset in building my trailer. His methods are undoubtedly tried and true.
    The bearded builder
    Shooshinejonnie
    Renovations and repair
    Sds construction
    There are others . They all helped me in planning and designing my trailer/mobile shop. I hope my video helps you.
    Feel free to ask me questions. I’ll help as best I can.

    OHH MAN!! you took Ron’s Ideas and my ideas then blew them out of the park!! I’m think you’ve re inspired me to build another one. You had a ton of great ideas of your own in there. If I had to pick just one I think The sliding panels for the battery storage was one of my favorite!

      Wow !! Thank you!! Honestly your trailer specifically started it all for me. Then Ron’s. Mine is not so refined. But it’s effective. I have a couple of more ideas I think you will like. I’ll post a video in a few weeks. You , Ron and all the other guys posting ideas really make you think. Thank you !!! Seriously I would still be working out of the cargo van if I hadn’t seen your video.

Most of what i thought of but was unsure would work right here and a few extra ideas to add to my build as well. I can't thank you enough for sharing your ideas with us. Keep up the great work.

      Thank you ! It’s been a total game changer for me . There isn’t much I would change about the trailer other than I should’ve ordered a trailer with a larger capacity. I’m presently running at capacity. 7000#’s . 10000# would have been better. Good luck with your build .

    Nice work! Could you give a little detail on how you made your electrical cord organizers? Looks like a 3/4" alum section to straddle the plywood, -- but how about the how you are holding it all together?

    Very nicely done! I have always tried to come up with an idea for my side door to be used like yours, but to have a very similar hinging section like you have developed. It gives me inspiration to try out something for my 16' V-nose. That is the one area that needs attention in my trailer. Thanks for sharing!

    Great video. I think you should really do a deep dive tour on your trailer. I have been a contractor for a long time and I have almost everything you showed. I would have never imagined it could all fit in a 7’x14’ trailer. Definitely the best one I’ve seen and trust me I’ve seen too many to count. I really don’t know why you don’t have way more views because you really have something there and I’m really hard to impress.

    This is such a dope trailer set-up. Most people would never understand the number of hours it takes to plan something like this out. Bravo my friend! Bravo..
    Also, If possible, could you do a DIY video on the lizard matt? I'm trying to think of how to incorporate a heating mat/station in my work van to keep caulking, glues etc from freezing up with our NE weather. Thanks!!

      Thank you! I literally planned my build for 1 year. Then I built it over 8 months a few hours at a time. I’m nearly complete. Hopefully this week or next. I’m going to do the heated cabinet next and I will post a video of it completed. I’m also in New England and Previously I had a cargo van and I used ridgid boxes with the lizard mats . They don’t produce a ton of heat but enough to keep things from freezing.

    Your trailer set up is the best i've seen here on you tube, and it's great to see you give credit for ideas to other's for your master piece ! You said in reply to a question about the cost of the plywood used to build this ( about $ 2000 ) was that before or after covid 2020 ?

    I love your setup! Awesome ideas. I especially like the Stanley organizer rack with the diagonal sliding restraint. Would you share how you configured that? What hardware did you use for the sliding catches?

    • @realworldcarpentryremodeli5868
      @realworldcarpentryremodeli5868  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks. The sliding catches are just 1/2” bolts with a piece of pex over them to act as a sleeve to make them slide easily. The slots are cut on a 45 degree angle. It’s fairly simple. However there was a little trial and error.

      @@iamschwenke I cut the slots a 1/16” larger than the pex then made the end have a small indent that it drops on. Just enough so it holds in place. It’s kinda hard to describe. Maybe I’ll do a short video tomorrow with close up shots .

      Hey thanks for the kind words. I did have some drawings but they got lost in the shuffle. Besides that they didn’t represent what actually got built. I purchased the Ron Paulk plans and modified to suit my needs. The hardware door works great although I need to make adjustments to the wheels to make it open a little easier. Other than that it works as you would want it to.

    You my friend have a lot of tools in a compact trailer. I really like the trays you made. I have a cutting board like that in my small galley kitchen and i love it. I am really interested to hear how the lizard mat works. The bearded builder from you tube put a lp furnace in his trailer and said he only needed one or 3 LP tanks a month to heat the entire trailer to 60 all winter long and we live in a cold climate. He added 1” of XPS to the inside however.

    • @realworldcarpentryremodeli5868
      @realworldcarpentryremodeli5868  3 роки тому

      I considered doing what jack did in his trailer. However I really didn’t have room for the lp gas tank. I squeezed something in every square inch. I used lizard mats in my cargo van for years. They don’t get super hot . Just warm enough to keep things from freezing or going bad and they use very little energy.

      @@realworldcarpentryremodeli5868 a clever idea I just might steal. In my next trailer build (7x14 or 8x12) I would like to include a small heated area for caulk and chemicals and paints and thought about plug-in heat tape but like the mat concept. I have never used one so it never occured to me. I do not know if I can pull off what Jack (BB) pulled off with the propane heater but would love to actually heat the entire trailer if truth be said.

    Howdy RWCR! Very cool trailer build out. All kinds of great ideas and modifications from other trailer build-outs to the point that your trailer is unique! I especially like the hinged cabinet that gives you man-door access! Question: around minute 3:13 you mention a dewalt battery power connector/adapter that runs your lights if you are not hooked up to shore power. Any chance you can tell me how to find that? Take care and again, great job. Thanks for sharing and for the mention in the description. I look forward to your next video.
