Its not a full sakuga show but they planned the scenes they would go hard so well(including music, va and ad) it just feels incredible to watch. Truly a passion project for A1, great fucking job

I really hope A1 pictures will be able to maintain the same quality throughout the entire season. Although I'm not a huge fan of Power fantasy shows but it hooked me.

Your mistake is that Solo Leveling is not an adaptation of the Manhwa. Both the Manhwa and the anime are adaptations of the source material, which is a web novel. The manhwa deviated from the web novel by being more straightforward and into the action, while the anime is actually following more closely what happens in the web novel.
I did hear about that, but I do think that the anime is still an adaptation of the manhwa, since so many scenes are 1:1 panel recreations and certain novel only events are absent in the anime (like sung making an internet thread asking about this abilities). I haven't read the novel, but I have skimmed through the early parts...

Thanks for talking about Solo Leveling, man. Despite its limitations, it stands above most of the other recent industry standard anime for its carefully done yet ambitious production values.
This adaptation elevates the story to a new height. Just what an anime adaptation is supposed to do. And it always delivers with the quality animation when necessary while not making everything else look bad.
It's not unnecessarily gorgeous everytime like CSM or Tengoku, and I'm kinda glad that it isn't cz that would have backfired the entire production. Love how balanced the production is.
better overall direction, sound design, and voice acting is definitely preferred over pure animation greatness, cough cough god of high school. But please make the snow elf fights sakuga. i don't care for the rest.

Yeah, I'm not really surprised considering he has only read manga with an anime adaptation. I think some people don't realize that less can be more, and manga is a perfect example. I do always laugh when people say anime is better because of color, when if they have an issue with that, they can just read western comics.
@@thomasffrench3639 To say that anime is only because of color seems like a bit of an understatement. Music and animation play a huge part of understanding some scenes. Ive had plenty of times where i have read manga and get confused by what is happening in the fightscenes because there is so much going on in one manga panel. And again the music, without music a lot of shows wouldnt be what they are now fx. imagine aot without its iconic soundtrack .
Also i agree that some mangas will always be better on paper like berserk, vagabond and goodnight punpun, but they are a few among many. In general i would say that an anime usually has the ability to enhance the sourcematerial =)
I remember when the anime was first announced, ppl were so skeptical about it but it's all so different now. Glad to see that the makers proved everyone wrong.

Completely agree with the use of music in ep 6. It made a (sorry if I a little rude to people who like the story of solo leveling) but the music made a generic edgy scene I’ve seen a hundred times, cool again. I got chills from a scene that is “meh” scene.
The Direction of this show has floored me, the story boards are good. (Nothing to write home about) but still good.
I'm not so snobbish that I need a full-sakuga show to keep me happy.
Seeing the clever ways that they limit the animation is just as interesting.
A1 Pictures made full use of their budget. A very good all round power fantasy anime package

Yeah, i agree. I completely agree with all the points he made except this one. Every single art medium have that 'click' moment that gives you an undescribable feeling and to say that one medium is better is kinda childish. I experienced some of those moments both from the manhwa and anime. This just goes to show that both succeds at what their trying to convey.

Well it depends either on schedule or there staff level as I heard they changed almost all staff from cour 2 and they have mostly every staff member new for cour 3 apart from yuki sato,yamashita or so.

tbh thats very true, ive read solo leveling about 15 times now and the first 10-25 chapters isnt as interesting as after the job arc comes. but the changes wit hthe anime like when they visited him at the hospital to see if he had reawakened. The spiky purple haired guy was there to kinda pres how us him even tho he didnt play a sinificant role at that time.

I would really like to have the Extremist Stans of SL watch this video, for them to understand that the Anime really did make the story better;
The dynamic Action scenes, Really well done voice acting, More Solid world building, making the story more diversed than linear as it was in the Manhwa, anime original scenes that made the story more compelling.
The Solo Leveling is Peak-Mid but the Anime adaptation just made it better. They turned it "High-Peak-Mid".
The reason why it is still called mid was because the plot used is all generic trope and made all characters besides mc more important by making him the only one to lvl up.
But despite it being mid, the Art and storytelling made it peak: That is why it's labeled as Peak-Mid and now the anime just Further increased it's Peakness.
I somewhat agree with your take that anime when it's fully animeing surpasses the manga it's based on. But your argument is the same as when people are saying that film is better than the book... The acting/VA, music and beautiful scenery you can interpret on your own by reading descriptions from the book. Thus, you create your perfect vision of what you've read and a great writer only helps you with that. Similar case is for manga, how the characters sound, how the moves or action sounds, you can picture all of that yourself.
I feel like the anime being better than the manga is a case by case basis, however I do think that adaptations of anything including a manga adaptation of an original anime always has potential to be a superior version of the story. I think that’s indeed true, it’s just that manga->anime adaptations are much more common.

The anime is also making changes to the source material - for better and for worse. Overall, the show has been great but there are certain aspects that I wish they didn't change.
The manhwa art looks more textured and interesting. Might check that out instead. A lot of the anime has that cg composite colour filter and computer assisted looking textures/perspective. I liked parts of the anime but its really not been that interesting narratively so maybe the other medium is better for me.

It was way too hyped by the Manwha readers. Even a production like Chainsawman couldn't deliver to the hype for many, I loved it though. I was disappointed after watching the first trailer since I was expecting something like JJK or Demon slayer production, still this anime is fire! The only I can't keep on waiting every week.
Chainsaw man delivered big time but the problem was everyone thought they are also gonna adapt bomb girl arc where the real fun begins but they adapted the weakest arc that made some people disappointed but still the whole season was incredible especially the production quality

Opm s1,devil man cry, jjk s2,csm s1 etc are some shows with full of sakuga and well animated series.
Solo levelling is carried by its first 2 episodes ,the more it dig deeper to the story ,the more generic power fantasy it becomes
Ur totally wrong, the story isn't the strong point, the power system, battle structure large scale battles, character development and hype moments are what makes this good. If you're looking for a story go watch heavenly delusion or somethin

@@TryHardSlippers Oh okay. I don't particularly like shows that only exist 12 episodes at a time, so I would prefer that. At least it declining story-wise just means it's not a very good series, so I'm not really broken up about it as I am not hyped for a new season that will suck.

I would also like to mention that you can have a great show/movie, but not a great adaptation. The best example is the Shining. Another example is Chainsaw Man, but I know that a lot of people disagree with that sentiment.
Although I would not say that anime is an inherently better medium, but it has inherently more aspects than manga. There is stuff that anime cannot do what manga can. I just think that dismissing an entire medium because it doesn’t have sound is just really strange to me. And anime is literally just pictures, same as manga, same as a photograph, same as a painting, same as a motion picture. I mean this is shown with the Gundam Origin adaptation, manga can take advantage of its medium to stand out from the anime. So despite Gundam Origin being based on one of the best anime of all time can arguably improve with a manga. Aside from that, great video.

@@carloscauan7967 I know that a lot disagree, but it is to an extent. It doesn't have the tonal balance of the manga, which is a big aspect of why people love the series, me included. I didn't say it was a bad adaptation, just not a great one, just good. Same thing with the Shining, but not as good of an adaptation. I just thought I would use an anime example, and CSM was the best I could think of.
I will always prefer manga/books over their respective anime/live action adaptations, or just in general. I just find it so interesting and mindblowing how only by writing and prose(and art/paneling in case of manga), the author can convey so much so differently and with so much emotion. I do love movies also, but only very specific types.

No, you’re right. It is ultimately subjective, but the low costs and other strengths such as panel size and panel flow are things that really can help with a story just aren’t possible in anime. Double page spreads are such an awesome trope in comics that really helps bring weight to a scene that would be hard to replicate in animation. Sure sound can help, but it is so much harder to get the same impact.

Did you see the recent news about how Pierrot will distribute the manpower in their shows? It seems like they won't go ham on any special events and fights, but rather have everything the same, so if you thought that one episode or fight looked meh, you could think hey but there is that [other important fight] they go hard on. It's not the case here.
Unless they don't hire someone decent to do the job and we stay with the same people like that trash Murata, it will mean the medicority trough the entire damn show...

@@Ivraas actually I heard that cour 3 has some good talent on board( not sure it will be constant sakuga but rather 1 or 2 good stuff ep) and even in pv of cour 3 which came 1 month ago has one sakuga cut from 0:44-0:47 timing+ considering the coloring was looking good in some places especially last scene where yhwach stops ichigo's blade and colouring is speciality of taguchi so I guess he is working more+ sakai also said he is working and involving himself more in cour 3 as in cour 2 he was not in good health.
And yuki sato also joined the board as action and effect animation director so I think cour 3 will be better than cour 2 alot as even schedule is good.

bleach cour 3 will have considerably more time to be worked on they haven't announced the release date and it's already been approx 5 months since cour 2 wrapped up so ya they will face less production issues and coming of YUKI SATO is a win win
@@GranthPratapSingh well not only yuki sato came in board but she also is action and effects animation director+heard that cour 3 has some good talent on board for example in the pv of cour 3 from 0:44-0:48(watch it in 0.25x) was a sakuga cut with insane detailing. And sakai also said that he is way more involved in cour 3 as he was unhealthy in cour 2+ it looks like taguchi is also very much involved in cour 3. Just hoping that murata don't have any action filled ep or a good ep.

Not really. Solo leveling isnt just "some" anime that is airing currently, when it first got big for its fights, people were literally wondering if it ever will turn into an anime cuz of the whole korean and Japanese clash. Now that it is here, it's currently a mediocre adaptation (visually). There are so many flaws in the latest ep that dont really do justice to the fight animation wise and impact wise. For example, whetb the fight begins between the spider and sung, we see him running towards the boss for an attack and it just follows up with a still/limited cut of him already completing the attack. That is not a good adaptation of a relatively important fight which showcases his powers for the first time in a dungeon after reawakening. Even the last sequence of him stabbing the spider's eye, the slow mo kills the impact of him stabbing the spider aggressively like the manwha. You can say i had high expectations for this fight but am i really to be blamed here for having high expectations here when the director of the show described the production of the show and quoted "we will be going all out for the action episodes". If this is them going "all out" then its honestly a huge slap in the face to the fans and the author. This is a 12 ep cour and the fact that they have to tone down the scenes for a bigger fight in the future is not what a good adaptation would do. Yes the pacing is amazing with the music and voice acting but in these 6 eps, we have gotten maximum 5 good sequences of animation while rest being limited or underwhelming. Not a single slice/stab in ep 6 felt impactful or damageable. In one of the cuts his slash doesnt even mix well with the spider's body and you can tell those two are on a different layer. Ninja kamui for example debuted with a strong first episode and it shines in every single department even though its not as hyped up as solo leveling yet it manages to shine in everything that it brings to the table. I wasnt expecting sunghoo park level of choreography/animation in solo leveling but its crazy to think we havent gotten a single animation sequence that even comes close to ninja kamui ep 1 standards. Hopefully they are able to grasp how big this project is and how much the fans have wanted this to have an amazing adaptation not just a mediocre one.
The yapping is insane 💀 the show looks great and tbh it exceeds my expectations. It's just getting started and the animation is gonna level up as we go on.

😂Bro the animation is amazing, you don't know how cuts and sequencing work there are focus scenes which were done exceptionally well and then there are cuts where the animation is static for different purposes. Overall it's a great adaptation and it is only going to get better from here on.

This is the one video where you sound like a hypocrite, the adaptation is just like bleach tybw and eminence in shadow, limited animation and is carried by Osts, voice acting, sound designs, elevating source material and overall composition, but now you praise solo leveling for doing the same thing nice try though 😂😂

Life isn't providing enough time these days, so no way to read multiple source materals for multiple animes. But I was really invested in SL since ep 4 and finished reading the manhwa. Excited to see how much of the script writing magic in anime can improve the pacing and character developments.
I mean it all depends on the manga or anime. I’ve seen more immersive manga when I compare it to its anime adaptation like One Piece and Hunter x Hunter

nah the storyboarding of the action scenes are so random and constantly distract me from the fights. Especially for the part where Sung Jin Woo wipes out the squat, the animation sequence is terrible. It is consists of powerpoint presentation like cuts and awkawrd animation, which does not match the ost at all. It's like listening to the most hype song while watching a powerpoint presentation.
