I’m cheap I use Used Conveyer Belt Rubber 3/8” thick behind the Wear Bar with no shoes ! Cut a piece around 4” wide by length of plow, center wear bar on Belt material drill holes , leave 3/4” hang down below wear bar install bolts and in joy the ride, less noise no rock catching , I use -2- 10 pound weights fastened to plow also , at end of season take Wear Bar off and turn Rubber Conveyor Belt over for a Second Season .
Great stuff! Thx
Really looking forward to the LED light install I really want to get them !
Me too! Thanks for watching!
Nice job John! That will come in handy with the snow flying. Have a Merry Christmas and a safe NewYear!
Thanks,
DC
Thanks, you too!
Thank you, i think this will help my situation.
How did the wear edge do after a year of use? I’ve been using a rubber wear edge from rubbercal and it’s done well on my 150’ driveway but my new home has a huge driveway around 475’ and it’s not going to last the season.
I just added this onto my new plow. It does work great however, not impressed with the durability of it, it is very apparent how much of the material has wore off already after the first couple plowing of driveways and sidewalks in my neighborhood. Just sharing my experience with it so far
Funny ive been going on the same poly edge for 3 years and i have an 800ft asphalt driveway. Havent flipped it yet. Steel or poly edge?
@@JohnFrancoNH no idea why it’s wearing so fast. This is only after a few uses of it. I did plow a lot in my neighborhood but I figured it would hold up better
I guess it won’t let me add a picture
Great review John! Very informative and detailed!
Glad you liked it!
Nice work man, and yes I agree with Polaris should do better with some of its parts!!
No complaints besides the skids shoes. Wouldnt hurt for them to be commercial grade for longevity and to angle them properly so they sit parallel in contact with the ground. Hopefully Polaris will see this video.
Did you completely get rid of the metal skids?
Change the skid shoes to casters...pneumatic tires....last for ever...mine are going strong after 3 years
I thought about that..my only concern is bulkiness & clearances on the back of the plow. Thanks for watching!
Do you use your shoes on the plow?
Hey John I was thinking on buying a high density polyethylene 1” cutting board, cut with a hole saw and attach with epoxy to my stock Polaris skid shoes? Do you think this is worth a shot and if so what epoxy would you recommend thank you
Thats a great idea but epoxy will not hold that on. I actually will be making larger custom skids with replaceable poly shoe and offering them for sale soon for polaris plows so stay tuned!
I wonder if a machine shop could build a wear plate out of ar500 steel... the stuff gun targets are made from. It may cost a fortune but im betting itd last for years. I had to drill a hole through ar500 steel once to mount it to my target stand, that stuff ate many drill bits before i got a single hole drilled out lol.
Haha gotta use a 100% tungsten carbide drill, big money. But the AR500 will beat the F out of your asphalt driveway. I went poly so it would be more gentle and not rip up the surface as much.
When using the poly blade I’m assuming you get rid of skid shoes as well right ? I feel like the skid shoes would do as much damage on black too etc as the metal edge on there plow ?
Thanks
can you please let me know what size new bolts and flange nuts you used to compensate for the extra thickness of teh poly edge? thanks!
What do you spray on the drill bit before drilling? Is it to cool down the bit so it doesn't melt the poly? TIA
How did it hold up to a year of plowing? Did it stay somewhat flexible in the cold?
I am plowing around a city block.
What size are the S.S. bolts that you used?
Thanks for the tip on the kid shoes. I just put mine on and only have been through one storm, how has the whole setup lasted and what should I expect?
Video coming soon with the new upgrades in action. Poly edge should last slightly longer then the traditional steel bar/skids. But offers better clean up and adds height which is nice. I still run the skids for extra protection just not as low. Because the outside corners of the plow always get worn more quickly then the center.
@@JohnFrancoNH it’s funny I went out and checked my blade today and the factory edge is probably already worn down atleast an 1/8” on the outsides. That was only after one storm so now I’m a little worried
@@wheelinndealin Yes...Keep an eye on it. Its very easy to think you have plenty of meat on there. But it goes quick. The factory wear bar can be flipped to achieve a new fresh edge.
@@JohnFrancoNH thanks for the tips, I think I’m gonna go the same route you did and put the poly edge on
Why did you cut the poly and not leave an edge.?
its cut flush with ends. not sure i understand. like have it extended out the sides?
@@JohnFrancoNH yeah. Was there a reason you cut it flush? Im thinking having the poly stick out 1-1/2” on either side might be useful? Did you intentionally cut it flush?
Man looks like I need to bust out the wallet again, great tip thanks, just just gonna blast through with shoes but this looks promising
Yes poly edge is performing well so far with the snow. Have a plowing video coming soon with it in action.
Hey what pin hole do u have yours set at on the wear shoes?
at the very top because of the extra height of the poly edge
How did the poly blade work for you?
Works great. Will post a follow up video soon winter is coming!
@@JohnFrancoNH I'm really curious too. I have Warn in my yamaha and it's my first time using it. The metal blade will definitely damage my driveway.

Chainsaw tails are better sidemarkers. And they're bright orange and cheaper
What is a chainsaw tail, if you dont mind me asking?
Chainsaw Tails?
It's an orange plastic rod you bolt to your chainsaw to measure your logs with. Google it
