    Got a tip for you, use the ashes to make lye, then take any wood from the lye and use it for the forge.

    I've got that exact power hack saw. Makes the straightest cuts every time. Also have a 4" version of the hand powered bench grinder. The dinosaur tools always work just fine in my book.

    I think that powered hacksaw may have been invented by George Westinghouse. I have a story in an old "Childcraft" book from 1964 (part of a World Book Encyclopedia) that has a story about him as a kid making something like it.

    If you strike the wedge for the Vise mount bracket that hard too often it will break the the mortise they fit in. don't be dramatic, just make it almost snug.the Vise is built for hot working, including hammering, and if the wedge is too tight you risk breaking out the mortise. Your Anvil should sit solidly on the base, with no appreciable wiggling. use whatever tools you have to level it best you can, or you'll lose a lot of swing energy, and the work will not be as well defined. sometimes just some sand sprinkled under the anvil will do the trick. Makes for a happier days work. :)

      +beardo52 Yeah, I was smacking the dog hard! Iwill keep that in mind. Our anvils are poorly mounted and need to be reset. Iwould guess we are loosing half of the energy.     If *I* been an old time blacksmith, and *I* had access to a MIG welder, you bet your ASS I'd use it!
    I'm all for tradition, but only up to a point.
    Overhead forge welding... very high level of difficulty.

    1:35. Whoa, go easy on that cast mounting plate. The sharp angle of the wedges gives a lot of splitting pressure.

    Have you ever heard of eds red gun solvent it works great for braking loos stuff and cheep if you need a lot K1, auto transmission fluid, acetone and lanolin if you want for long term keep up the good work 👍

      +Casey White ILike the electronics but the head strap is junk. When you close the hood it cuts your ears and the cheap ratcheting mechanism broke after a few uses. I q bonded mine back together but will be replacing the head strap asap. For the price its not bad at all. Just add ten bucks for a new head strap.

I am making an offset bbq smoker right now out of 2 propane tanks and I just uploaded the first part.     You cheated! You should've forge-welded that bracket to the table! ;o)
    It was a little odd to watch the fire being stoke, the metal heated and forged, the hear the REEEEEEE! of the angle grinder. Same with the wire-feed welder. Old and new together.

      +Christina Perez The bice has a leg that touches the floof for support allowing you to clamp things in the bice and hit them wit a hammer transferring the force to the ground making for a super strong vice. Its like an anvil that holds stuff.

    Nice Work! Please don't make a the long black screen between each cut, like you did in the first 5 minutes, they are very annoying.
