Yes! But what I find most fascinating lately is that the pure Carnivore diet is catching on among a few pro cyclist. The idea is that when one feeds the body no carbs or sugar the body becomes far more efficient at releasing energy from fat and the liver actually starts producing all the glucose the mussels need. Now there are cyclist doing a hundred miles or more in 4 hours or less and doing it with out fueling. I wonder what Oli would think of that?
Citing from 2019, "...grip strength is largely consistent as an explanator of concurrent overall strength, upper limb function, bone mineral density, fractures, falls, malnutrition, cognitive impairment, depression, sleep problems, diabetes, multimorbidity, and quality of life."
Hmmm. Never had strong grip. Trained it. I can dangle from one arm for 5 seconds at 100kg. I think it's not consistent, just usually. Because grip strength up to a point reflects general health. Or bad health. Up to a low level. Above that you got bear paws vs spider fingers. Even among people that workout, grip ain't usually trained much.

Grip strength is also important to catch one self when falling and holding on. Imagine you are old, brittle bones and you fall at the top of the stairs. Being able to hold onto the railing will save you from falling down the stairs, which might save your live or a broken hip. Breaking a hip at an old age is long way of recovery and thus you will lose a lot of exercise, hence decrease in VO2max, muscle mass, strength/power. It might sound like a silly example, but these accidents happen more then you think. Of course when balance and lower body strength are in check the change of falling will be very slim and the change you can catch yourself with your own legs is of course bigger in the case you do fall/lose balance.
If only that bike with the yellow mudguards had been photographed from the drive train side. Guaranteed "Super Nice" on the Bike Vault, with that matching bottle cage and yellow bungee cord.😉
Is the 1.6 tonne limit only applicable to SUVs? Seems arbitrary since most electric cars weigh substantially more than that. How is weight correlated to parking? Surely dimensions should be a better corollary for parking charges... I mean, I cycle to work so does not affect me, but love to know the French thought process on that one :)
It may be down to the particulates that heavy cars produce, this can cause poor air conditions and more pollution. It can be a tricky subject to tackle - how do you think they should make Paris a greener city? 🇫🇷
Basic physics: heavier cars need more energy to move. Smaller cars emit less. They also require less material to build. Also, larger/heavier vehicles are much more lethal when colliding with pedestrians and cyclists, and smaller vehicles. The increase in SUV and "Light truck" numbers can be blamed for the sharp increase in pedestrian casualties in the last 10 years. Also, they take up way too much public space. We didn't need these 2-ton tanks to move our families 20 years ago. Why do we need them now? (answer: has to do with car manufacturers profit margins...)
@@francoisdemers1203 ok, and how are energy to move and lethality of collisions related to parking fees? Also, 1,6 ton is a pretty low bar. Even in its most basic configuration MB C-class doesn't fit it. 20 years ago that would be true for average D or E. From this perspective the initiative look more like in favor of most produced Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 From personal consumer POV i don't really care the cars grew from 1,2 to 1,6 tons. Liters per 100 are still better now.
Agree with you about slow walking driving you nuts. I think everyone has their own MSS - Minimal Stable Speed. Anything slower than your MSS is really uncomfortable, awkward and irritating!

Hi Guys, I really miss GCN+. While I understand that no more videos will be made in the future can you please put it to the new management that the existing videos be made available on the normal you tube channel. Here's hoping.
Charging extra to park bigger vehicles is discrimination and unfair unless they provide bigger parking spaces. It could also put prices up of products that need 4x4 ( me driving a defender as I'm a bee farmer)
On the subject of PEDs, is it considered bad form or functioning outside the spirit of sport if a person uses hormone replacement therapy to bring their levels back into medically agreed upon “normal” levels?
Unfortunately, these indications aren't a part of any physical or exam I've ever had. I do however, notice a lowering of blood pressure and resting heart rate when I ride more... and vice-versa.

"French thought process" is all you need to know. Still not competing with US "light duty trucks" fuel efficiency standards
From this perspective the initiative look more like in favor of most produced Renault Clio and Peugeot 208
From personal consumer POV i don't really care the cars grew from 1,2 to 1,6 tons. Liters per 100 are still better now.
Just ban those ugly monstrosities. Nobody needs a car or truck that big and heavy for any non-commercial use.
Who’s lost more vo2 max in a decade, Chris Froome or Dan Lloyd? That would be interesting
You can't lose what you didn't have much of to start with though 😂
Caption competition: what do you think Ben, do our shirts stand out? Ben: No, they Healey stand out
Caption - What the POC have they stuck on our heads???
CAPTION CONTESTS: I know we are brightly coloured, but this idea of Alien vs predator fancy dress was brilliant.
#captioncontest Personally, I preferred the original Judge Dredd uniform. Court's adjourned.

Ben, "Dead or alive, You're coming with me."
Lukas, "I must go now. Somewhere, a bicycle crime is being committed."
LOL.. You think most of these pros are natty? LOL, LOL...
Agree with you about slow walking driving you nuts. I think everyone has their own MSS - Minimal Stable Speed. Anything slower than your MSS is really uncomfortable, awkward and irritating!
#CAPTION COMPETITION. It's worth a try even if we do look daft. We've got to find some 'EF'in way to beat 'POC'atcha.
So the first GCN branded camel bak bidon is a water bodge-le ?
The QUAILTY of my friends has improved since I’ve been cycling as well.
Quality over Quantity, I’d say.
No snow-sports-- Connor just became my favorite!
He's our favourite too ... Shhh don't tell anyone 🤫
Sorry to bring up the sadness of GCN+ being cancelled, but like others I am in withdrawal missing the great cycling movies you created. Will they be available to purchase or going to a parent company channel? This collection deserves to be available to cycling enthusiasts everywhere
Cycling on snow can't be that hard? Oh Man! Please send Conner on a snow race! It's brutal. Want to find out how bad your VO2 Max is? Cycle through some snow.
Hahaha where should we send him? Fat bike racing sounds good ❄️
@@gcn I don't know. I just commute through the snow I'm not sure of what would be a good race. Maybe the GCN mountian bike channel would have a good suggestion?
@@gcnHow aboot Canada?! 😂
#CaptionCompetition: Ben told the guys, "Okay, so Mads Pedersen won, but at least we don't hafta wear that LiDL-TREK team kit".
CAPTION COMPETITION- I didn't know Lady GaGa sponsored a team.
On the subject of PEDs, is it considered bad form or functioning outside the spirit of sport if a person uses hormone replacement therapy to bring their levels back into medically agreed upon “normal” levels?
#captioncompetiton EF’s new marginal gains policy of picking one of look s**t or insert s**t divides their riders.
Unfortunately, these indications aren't a part of any physical or exam I've ever had. I do however, notice a lowering of blood pressure and resting heart rate when I ride more... and vice-versa.
Still waiting to learn, since GCN+ went away, where I can watch cycling in the U.S. (Preferably without Phil Liggett and Bob Roll.)
#CaptionCompetition Should we trust these shady characters? EFinitely not!
