- Factories act 1948 rules and regulations must be followed by all the factories & Companies working in India and if not followed strictly then Government of India and other respective agencies have rights to take strict action against them.

The following rules of Indian Factory Act 1948 are:
Safety officer must be required to for any factory have more than 1000 workers and the qualifications of safety officer are also mentioned in rules.
Welfare officer is mandatory for all factories having more than 500 workers with proper qualifications.
When a factory having 500 or more workers then it is mandatory to have a Ambulance as per Indian Factory Act 1948.
A subsidised canteen is required in the factory and subsidised canteen means that you have to charge less to your workers for food with compare to actual cost of food. It is mandatory where more than 250 people work.
A First Aid box with 24 items is required for 150 workers and the box will be multiplied with each 150 workers.

Next requirement is for creches, is any factory have 30 or more women workers then creches is mandatory there.

5 liter per day drinking water is required in factory as per 1948 act and regulation and in summer season, cold water is required for workers.
The distance between toilet & drinking water is minimum 15 meters. It is required to maintain regular hygiene. In terms of toilets, it is required to have one toilet seat for 50 workers. And have tiles upto 39 CMs to avoid moisture and regular white wash in every three months and should be cleaned daily with checklist and needed to have a seperate sweeper who cleans toilets only.
For every 25 workers in Factory one urinal is mandatory. If any factory having 100 worker then 4 urinals are required.
There should be separate toilet for Male & female workers.
One spittoons on every 100 workers is mentioned in Indian Factories Act 1948 and the shape of spittoons is mentioned that it should be made up of steel and ash is spread in the bottom and in the conical shape.
