Honestly he's the best UA-cam maths teacher/tutor I ever seen. My family cannot afford me to go tutor and this to me is like a personal tutor. Learning from him will help me compete with students in my A class since 90% of them have real life tutor and I don't. Currently in year 10 and hopefully learning calculus from him will give me an edge in Advanced Maths course in year 11 when calculus is being taught.

I got a final score of 88 for "advanced mathematics" unit after graduating high school. Was pretty happy considering I've struggled a fair bit initially. Now I'm about to graduate for civil engineering course at uni (end of the year). Crazy how time flies 😊

I'm left with the only options of UA-cam and tutoring.
I think the best way how to explain what a function is, is to use visual representation like it is done in system dynamics. Basically, you have 2 elements ( input and output), and something that transforms these inputs into outputs. That something is the function, which represents that transformational relationship between those elements mathematically. A lot of students are confused by the "classical" explanation of what a function is, used by math teachers, because they don't understand its uses. But once they realize that is a relationship or a law which transforms inputs into outputs, that is much easier for them to grasp.
Where can I get access to the practice problems? Looked everywhere but couldn't find it. I think the practice problems would be very helpful in cementing what you learn from these amazing lectures.

The class and his teaching methods are admirable and definitely his students too! I laughed loud when student said "Allergic to Calculus" I am currently taking five classes, all are technical, but in order to land Calculus 2 I need to take Placement test for Calculus 1. I bought a book of word problems to solve with calculus and suddenly it makes sense. Applied Calculus is the name of the book. The word descriptions clarify what the problem is trying to solve. It's night and day in terms of how easy it is to understand. The students probably already have an idea of practical problems that the equations relate to.
I love figuring something out on my own. I wrote something down wrong at one point and paused to re-check everything, only to realize I made a mistake very early on. Brings me back to my Calculus class in Highschool. That aside, you're an excellent professor and I wish there were more like you!

Can someone explain to me why the domain of that box is not x
I'm going back to college after 15+ years after leaving and going a different direction with my life. I'm starting back at Calc 1 right away. I'm terrified. But watching this makes me feel like I'll be ok. I'm going to follow along with this course every week along with my regular lectures. This is an amazing resource.

@1:30:00 ---> That box volume Domain.... I think we must exclude 0 and and and make it open interval ... so equal to 0 and equal to 8 won't be included in the domain..... as practically it isn't possible to make a box if the cut length =0 and also cut length equal to either of the sides' half length... if you include x=8 then that cardboard piece will become another rectangle of size 16X14 rather than a box..... Please correct me if I am worng
