I have mad respect for you. I can tell you are gifted dancer and teacher and these are great tips for people with bad knees. I used to dance a lot when I was younger and loved it and needed it in my life, you know? But now as I am in my 50's I have gained weight and have knee issues and have a really hard time dancing. I really want to be able to dance again. It's so important to me so thank you for putting me on a trail hopefully that will lead me back to being able to do what I love.
I'm new to shuffling and after my third workout an old knee pain came back from my basketball years. The time I didn't play basket I was totally pain free in the knees. Thank you for your videos. I'll try my best to implement the maximum of your advices. Shuffling seems quite hardcore for the joints I think. And thank you for the time and effort showing us your knowledge and experience.
Thank you so much! I found it very helpful. I also have problems with my lower back. I watched your posture video and found it great. If you have any more tips on lower back injury prevention, I'd love to learn more. I get issues when I dance waltz. Thank you so so much!!!
Hi, just found your video looking for how to protect knees and hips joints during dancing. I’m interested to learn line dancing but afraid to hurt myself since I am not used to dancing. Hope you can do more videos like warm-up and how to protect your joints.
You are an angel thank you so much! We learn so much about getting in shape but we can get so many exercise related injuries working out it becomes better for us to just stay unfit! Thank you so much! Now I need to check if you have anything for ankles!
There is one ailment that can sideline you from dancing without causing injury that still can affect your knees. That ailment is gout, where too much uric acid deposits in the joints (mostly happens in the foot joints but can affect the knee joints too), and the immune response to these deposits results in inflammation, putting pressure on the knee nerves and causing pain. One way to keep gout in check so you can dance without knee pain is to keep uric acid levels as normal as possible if you had been diagnosed with it...and stay away from purine-rich foods as much as possible (they are acidic and gout loves pHs that are acidic). Water is also important to flush out imbalances that can cause the pH levels in your body to be too acidic.
