+Sugarsnap Caely Me too!! I don't know if I ever even saw the first. I was sooo happy he mentioned The Rescuers Down Under, it was one of my all-time favorite movies as a child. Still think it is one of the best underrated Disney films.
I totally agree that Zira is more awesome than Scar. As my friend so rightly put it, "If a male villain is crazy you can bet his wife is way more crazy and evil." Also the Lion King 2 has the best music of any of the other Disney sequels in my opinion
No, I disagree. Scar will always be better than Zira. You can't beat the voice of Jeremy irons, Scar's scar, and his song "Be Prepared". And the music of the first movie will always to me, be the better soundtrack.
If you made this list in 2014 or later then I'm 100% certain that HTTYD 2 would be high up on this list. It's personally my favorite animated sequel ever made
Fun fact: He actually did update this list when he did his Top 10 WORST Animated Sequels list and he included "Dragon 2" as a tie with "Kung Fu Panda 2".
Excellent production, even for more than four years ago. I found your opinions very agreeable and some of your choices quite stunning. You have definitely earned my subscription, good sir.
Simba's Pride and Balto 2 are the best animated sequels I've seen. I've watched both many times since I was a kid and never get tired of them. The emotionality, compelling characters, awesome voice acting, intriguing stories, memorable songs...plus the father daughter relationships in both films really struck a chord with me.
I love Aladdin King of Thieves! I was so glad Robin Williams was the Genie again.. no one can replace him! It was just so much better than the second one, I love The Lion King 2 Simba's Pride: We Are One is in my top 30 favourite Disney songs, it just has a great message and it's memorable! I've never seen Rescuer’s Down Under but now maybe I will! I loved Rugrats in Paris! Shrek 2 is so hilarious and I love Kung Fu Panda 2... the animation in that movie is just incredible! I love Toy Story 3 one of the best animated movies of all time! :D
Fun Fact: Rescuers Down Under was actually the first sequel Disney ever produced. It was at a time when their animation department was struggling hard to reinvent itself and movies like Oliver and Company and Rescuers Down Under were slowly setting the stage for the Disney Renaissance to begin.
Fun Fact: Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel both LOVED Aladdin and the King of Thieves That's amazing considering they rarely review straight to video films..
My top: 10)The Rescuers Down Under 9)SponjeBob Movie: Sponje Out of Water 8)Dragon Ball Super: Brolly 7)How to Tain Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World 6)Kung Fu Panda 2 5)A tie beetween The Lion King 2 and American Tail: Fivel Goes West 4)Toy Story 2 & 3 3)Madagascar 3 2)Shrek 2 1)Finding Dory
I cried The heck out of myself at the end of Toy Story 3. I didn't grow up with the Toy story franchise, but there's so many Goodbye scenes that I just can't handle.
Yay another Rugrats lover! Rugrats in Paris was my childhood! And someone who also likes Rescuers Down Under? Pretty cool, I don't really get the hate for that film, it was a pretty enjoyable sequel.
my mum wanted to throw away my toys, after watching toy story 3, omg i was not happy when i saw some childhood toys on the skip outside our house, my dad might of "secretly" saved a few from the dump.
Rugrats in Paris was also used as the ending of a story arc that occurred on Nick in the weeks leading up to the film. Eventually every part of that arc was combined into one special called "Acorn Nuts and Dipey Butts." That special helped explain why Grandpa Lou and Lulu got married, why Stu made Robo-Reptar, why Robo-Reptar is in Paris, and it helps bring a long-going closure to Chaz's status as a widowed father to Chuckie, starting waaaay back to the Mother's Day episode.
I remember seeing Rugrats in Paris at the movies when I was 4 years old. :) My older sister took me and my brother, and I remember it being really good. But I never realized how deep it was, I already knew Chuckie's mom had passed when I was 4, but I never realized the emotional struggle it had.
I had a bunch of Disney video sequels growing up - Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, Cinderella 2, Belle's Magical World - and Aladdin and the King of Thieves is the only one I look back on as an adult and still see as good. And yes, that 'Welcome to the Forty Thieves' song is super catchy.
I like to call movies like Ice Age, Sherk and Land before time 'Shreked'. it where a good movie get a sequel that is nearly or completely better than the original but it went down hill after the second movie.
My favourite animated sequels 1. Shrek 2 2. Toy Story 2, 3 & 4 3. Kung Fu Panda 2 4. The Rescuers Down Under 5. Rugrats in Paris 6. Ghost in Shell 2 Inoccence 7. Pokemon Lucario and the mystery of Mew 8. Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs 9. Fantasia 2000 10. Aladdin the King of Thieves and The Lion King 2 Simba’s Pride 11. How to Train your Dragon 2 & 3
I watched rescuers down under a lot as a kid, so thanks for appreciating it in detail! It's cool to see that it wasn't that "random" Disney movie people forget about, but an actually good movie
I agree with the simba's pride thing. I actually like that movie is better than the original. And it's love song is way better. I mean compare the lyrics of the two love songs, which one has more meaning, NOT NOSTALGIA! I love the lion king. It defined my early childhood and is filled with happy nostalgia, but honestly. Simbas pride was one of the best sequels ever made.
Spot on with Rescuers Down Under, I rented both of these but only Down Under left me impressed enough to remember it even today. And that's well over 10 years ago.
There's a fourth Toy Story coming in 2017 about Bo Peep. Yeah, this is real. It's also a romance movie. I'm going to watch it. Also, I watched Toy Story 3 in theaters, and my mom was crying in the end if I remember.
Let's hope that they don't make the toy story series like the Shrek series. 1 and 2 were both pretty good, the third one lacked a little bit but was still good, but by 4 they just wanted cash.
There are more, but you work with what you got and everything is opinion based. But if you want to laugh. The first one of Rescuers was the down under one and then i later saw the first one and it took years for me to realize that the down under one was the sequel. When i was finally convinced I asked. "how? It's a sequel? it isn't suppose to be better than the original."
That little segment where you talked about Lucario is why he's my favorite Pokemon of all time. He's such a loyal badass and I love having him in my party.
Pokémon Lucario and the mystery of Mew is one of my favorite Pokémon movies not only because it is rewatchable but also because I got it and the Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon special on DVD for my 10th birthday. It even came with a Mew trading card. Ah sweet memories.
when i was 8 i watched the first Kung fu Panda and when I saw that Mr. Ping is a goose I thought that Po's mother is married to Mr. Ping and she passed away. But when i saw the second it all start to make sense. Po was adopted
10 Cinderella 3 9 The Lion King 2 Simba's Pride 8 Rugrats in Paris 7 Incredibles 2 6 Finding Dory 5 Frozen 2 4 Shrek 2 3 Kung Fu Panda 2 2 how to train your dragon the hidden world 1 Toy story 3
OH MY GOSH! YES YES THANK U!!! ZIRA IS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN SCAR! For one her song: My Lullaby has dethroned Hellfire as my favorite villian song and 2. I hated the 1st lion king (yes yes spam me with hate) and the sequel is AMAZING! In my opinion SOOOO Much better than the original!
While I agree that Zira is better than Scar and that My Lullaby is the best villain song, I disagree with it being better than the first one. It's not a lot behind, the first one is probably about 2% better.
You should do a spiritual successor to this video like what you did with the top 10 scariest disney moments It should be like the top 10 best animated prequels or spinoffs or maybe the top 10 WORST animated sequels
I feel Kung Fu Panda 2 shudda beat Toy Story 3. Because all three have the gang trying to get back to Andy and Buzz thinking he is a real space ranger. The second time was ok I guess but using it three times? excessive. I understand why it was put there tho.
I love this list! Every sequel in here and I love each and everyone of them! (but I haven't really seen Ghost in the Shell 2) Even the ones that are shown as the honourable mentions when the number shows up. I hope to see the "Top 10 WORST Animated Sequels" soon.
I don't know if Zira is more threatening than Scar but she is definitely more interesting. However she doesn't rule with an iron paw at all and that's what makes her interesting. She's violent and mean towards her subjects but you can see and feel that she does care about them. She is willing to kill them if she's forced but does mourn for them. She was angry at the death of Nuka. I once saw a fan comic of a real LK 1,5 that's in between 1 and 2 and it was really strong.
What I like about Zira the even though It's every lion for themselves, she is able to have them work together to achieve victory. She also wants to kill Simba to get revenge for Scar's death, by raising her cub to do it. Really makes me wonder what Kovu's life was growing up.
RIP Robin Williams. 😢
I wish he was still alive.
I wish he was still alive.
The world was robbed of a wonderful comedian
Magic Note No kidding.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I must agree that Zira in Lion King 2, was a much better villain then Scar was. He wasn't a bad villain, but she definitely had him beat
she couldnt let go of her hate, and in the end, it destroyed her
Biggest bullshit I’ve ever heard In my life
Ironically, when I was younger I actually DID think The Rescuers Down Under was the first film! XD
same
Sugarsnap Caely Same here. Hell, when I discovered that there was one before Down Under, I went ahead and watched it....... I was disappointed. XD
Ditto
+Sugarsnap Caely Me too! I thought the first rescuers WAS the sequel.
+Sugarsnap Caely Me too!! I don't know if I ever even saw the first. I was sooo happy he mentioned The Rescuers Down Under, it was one of my all-time favorite movies as a child. Still think it is one of the best underrated Disney films.

I'm so happy Lion King 2 is on this list. Zira has to be one of my favorite villainesses
Me too. :)
Sadly, Zira's voice actress died in 2008 :(
[ BANZAI THE HYENA ] Really? Aww... I didn't know that.
+[ BANZAI THE HYENA ] It really makes that one part in her song tragically ironic in hindsight. "Scar is gone, but Zira's still around..."
I will treasure the day you do a cross-over with the Critic.
I think now he can put "How to Train Your Dragon 2" on the list.
SugarBunnies
Tat was his point.
I agree with you. If AniMat made this video again, How to Train Your Dragon 2 will most likely be on his list. I think it might be number 2.
That's my biggest complaint I have with Anime. The stories tend to be out of control as the stories tend to be overly confusing and complex.
thats why I enjoy the anime movies. they are ten times better
Ghibli does not have this issues most of times thank God
Jonny Boy like the Pokemon mystery dungeon games tree of beginning is a ripoff of tree of life in Pokémon super mystery dungeon
Has How To Train Your Dragon 2 been released before he made this?
Hockeyguy1
Good, good...
He updated the top list in "Top Worst Animated Sequels" in the Honorable Mention. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is now in his top list.
I was thinking that too. If it was made in that time I think it would make top three because it is amazing!
How to train your dragon 2 happened in 2014.
What is it about Dreamworks? They somehow manage to have the best sequels...
That George W. Bush comment was fucking priceless.
Especially since this is coming from a Canadian.
0:00-0:12 In hindsight, this image of John Lasseter staring into your soul feels uncomfortable in more ways than one.
I love Toy Story 3 one of the best animated movies of all time! :D

nr.6 - 10/10
nr.5 - 8/10
nr.4 - 6,5/10
nr.3 - 10/10 (total underrade)
nr.2 - 9/10
NR.1 - 10/10 (i´m cry)
"no prequels or spin-offs" Thank You! I find it incredibly annoying when people put prequels in Top 10 sequels list.
Fun Fact: Rescuers Down Under was actually the first sequel Disney ever produced. It was at a time when their animation department was struggling hard to reinvent itself and movies like Oliver and Company and Rescuers Down Under were slowly setting the stage for the Disney Renaissance to begin.
Fun Fact: Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel both LOVED Aladdin and the King of Thieves
That's amazing considering they rarely review straight to video films..
I'm so happy that you included Lucario and the Mystery of Mew on this list, I consider it one of my favourite Pokemon movies, if not my favourite
*whimpers* ANIMATRONICS?!?!*looks around in a panic wearing a security gaurd outfit*
Auryn Holtorf no.
+Auryn Holtorf yes.
Just no. Not ever.
Get out of here with your FNAFaggotry.
Ian Farnsworth that was in March :s People are still commenting on it idk why
I love the "Most likely." part from "The Emperor's New Groove" at the end!! I LOOOOVE that movie!!!!!!!
My top:
10)The Rescuers Down Under
9)SponjeBob Movie: Sponje Out of Water
8)Dragon Ball Super: Brolly
7)How to Tain Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World
6)Kung Fu Panda 2
5)A tie beetween The Lion King 2 and American Tail: Fivel Goes West
4)Toy Story 2 & 3
3)Madagascar 3
2)Shrek 2
1)Finding Dory
"Aladdin and the King of Thieves" was originally going to cast Sean Connery as Cassim. They were well aware of the similarities to The Last Crusade.
:D
24:58
Thank you for that, Upon watching this part I had to stop and go and listen to that opening song again!
Awesome song for an awesome movie!
16:32-16:37 I wouldn’t say Scar killed Mufasa “on the side.” I feel that was a major part of his plan to take over the Pridelands.
YES! The Lion King 2 is on here!
Thank you so much for including Down Under. I feel like everyone passes over this. Such great movie!
This has to be my favourite top 10 so hilarious!!! And your screams are so cute!!! :)
i think it was a few years later made that how to train your dragon 2 would be on the list
That's one of the few animated movies that has made me cry/wanted to cry
When Lion King 2 came on I literally started whisper-shouting Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
I got chills from that Down Under opening! xD
I cried The heck out of myself at the end of Toy Story 3. I didn't grow up with the Toy story franchise, but there's so many Goodbye scenes that I just can't handle.
26:36, Nostalgia Critic Shoutout
Yay another Rugrats lover! Rugrats in Paris was my childhood! And someone who also likes Rescuers Down Under? Pretty cool, I don't really get the hate for that film, it was a pretty enjoyable sequel.
I feel like Lion king 2 is really underated. It was my favorite movie growing up and still is
I feel it's under appreciated. It is probably considered one of the best Disney direct to video sequels but it deserves more than that.
my mum wanted to throw away my toys, after watching toy story 3, omg i was not happy when i saw some childhood toys on the skip outside our house, my dad might of "secretly" saved a few from the dump.
The Tinkerbell movie sequels are pretty good, especially the laters one.
Agreed. I love the Tinker Bell movies. The Pirate Fairy is my favourite.
i like the never beast
I was literally forcing myself to hold back my tears at the end of toy story 3. It's not much of a surprise a few years got out though xD
Finally!
Someone respects Lion King 2!
( Also i loved how you let the "We are one" song finish )
I'm from the future and trust me toy story 4's ending is way sadder.
Rugrats in Paris was also used as the ending of a story arc that occurred on Nick in the weeks leading up to the film. Sure, Zira might have been more dramatic than Scar, but Scar managed to KILL Mufasa, which many Disney villains cannot love up to.
*live
I remember seeing Rugrats in Paris at the movies when I was 4 years old. :)
My older sister took me and my brother, and I remember it being really good.
But I never realized how deep it was, I already knew Chuckie's mom had passed when I was 4, but I never realized the emotional struggle it had.
I admit, I'm with you on the Scar/Zirra thing, I love both of their songs, but yeah a lust for blood is more intimidating
+Sasuke Uchiha Scar does get points for successfully killing a good guy onscreen. Zira's still cool, though.
+sakuraslicer19 I do prefer Zira as a villain, but Scars motivation is better. ;)
Sasuke Uchiha Scars song is better tho
I didn't think you liked Disney movies, Sasuke
Toy Story is the only perfect animated trilogy, and I hope Toy Story 4 doesn't ruin that name
Simba's Pride is LITERALLY one of my favorite squeals
Senshine It is a great sequel, although like Matt said, not quite as amazing as the original.
When I was little, I ALWAYS watched Fantasia 2000, the music, animation, and story kept me coming back for more!
Here's hoping Kung Fu Panda 3 will be even more epic.
of course it will
Its Gawdzirra!
Well, it IS Kung Fu Panda.
Yummyjuice16 is back and it has some of the best character development ever
Its Gawdzirra!
Agreed! I can't wait to see backstory of the new villian, tho.
Yummyjuice16 is back yeah, but just cut me the CHIT CHAT
I had a bunch of Disney video sequels growing up - Little Mermaid 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, Cinderella 2, Belle's Magical World - and Aladdin and the King of Thieves is the only one I look back on as an adult and still see as good. And yes, that 'Welcome to the Forty Thieves' song is super catchy.
I like to call movies like Ice Age, Sherk and Land before time 'Shreked'. it where a good movie get a sequel that is nearly or completely better than the original but it went down hill after the second movie.
Zhao Dragión that's how I feel about the live-action Chipmunks movies.
Zhao Dragión
For me Ice Age went down after the 3rd one
We don't do not acknowledge the existence of Shrek the Third, only Forever After.
My favourite animated sequels
1. Shrek 2
2. Toy Story 2, 3 & 4
3. Kung Fu Panda 2
4. The Rescuers Down Under
5. Rugrats in Paris
6. Ghost in Shell 2 Inoccence
7. Pokemon Lucario and the mystery of Mew
8. Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs
9. Fantasia 2000
10. Aladdin the King of Thieves and The Lion King 2 Simba’s Pride
11. How to Train your Dragon 2 & 3
You and your voice were born to be on screen!!!!

+nola7235 Dude
EVERYONE was crying at the end
***** yeah man. :) (UPDATE: For people who didn't know, Toy Story 4 is now coming in 2018, if I remember. If you know this, then ignore this part.)
Let's hope that they don't make the toy story series like the Shrek series. 1 and 2 were both pretty good, the third one lacked a little bit but was still good, but by 4 they just wanted cash.
nola7235 2nd update its coming in 2019 switching with the Incredibles 2 date
This video has the best background music ever.
There are more, but you work with what you got and everything is opinion based.
But if you want to laugh. The first one of Rescuers was the down under one and then i later saw the first one and it took years for me to realize that the down under one was the sequel. When i was finally convinced I asked. "how? It's a sequel? it isn't suppose to be better than the original."
most sequels are not that way. plus, I never revealed my age at the time I saw and the time I learned.
That little segment where you talked about Lucario is why he's my favorite Pokemon of all time. He's such a loyal badass and I love having him in my party.
Just wait for Norm of the North sequel, it will be amazing
Filip Perisic directed by michael bay
Filip Perisic yes, very.
When Andy started giving the backstory of each toy...Many manly tears were shed
'I know it's hard to imagine mixing Pokemon with epic'
...bro
Pokémon Lucario and the mystery of Mew is one of my favorite Pokémon movies not only because it is rewatchable but also because I got it and the Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon special on DVD for my 10th birthday. It even came with a Mew trading card. Ah sweet memories.
kung fu panda 2 is my one of my favorite movies of all time, but in my heart nothinh can beat the awesomeness of toy story 3
And the most heartwarming. It's a new start for the toys.
I cried openly and proudly at the end of Toy Story 3, seeing my childhood friends story completed in the most perfect and beautiful way possible!
*Puts Rescuers Down Under in list* Me: THANK YOU!!!!!!
I agree with you when you said Zira is a better Scar
yeah both shrek the third and shrek forever after both to fail over some critics but i enjoyed both of em. I like all the shrek movies 24:13
Po: I just found out my dad isn't really my dad!
Tigress: Your dad.....the goose.....
Po: (*nods*)
Tigress: That must be...... quite a shock -_-
when i was 8 i watched the first Kung fu Panda and when I saw that Mr. Ping is a goose
I thought that Po's mother is married to Mr. Ping and she passed away.
But when i saw the second it all start to make sense. Po was adopted
10 Cinderella 3
9 The Lion King 2 Simba's Pride
8 Rugrats in Paris
7 Incredibles 2
6 Finding Dory
5 Frozen 2
4 Shrek 2
3 Kung Fu Panda 2
2 how to train your dragon the hidden world
1 Toy story 3
The Hyper Beam and fart joke were what caught me as HILARIOUS.
The sequel involves Simba's daughter falling head over heels with Simba's cousin. How is that better than the first?
Did ya know that Zira was Scar's mate?
While I agree that Zira is better than Scar and that My Lullaby is the best villain song, I disagree with it being better than the first one. It's not a lot behind, the first one is probably about 2% better.
I am so happy that someone else besides the Nostalgia Critic mentions the Rescuers Down Under!
did you know that toy story was the first full length computer animated movie
Yes. And yet I haven't seen it yet. But I saw the third and I was blown away by it.
I didn't cry at the end of toy story 3
You should do a spiritual successor to this video like what you did with the top 10 scariest disney moments
It should be like the top 10 best animated prequels or spinoffs or maybe the top 10 WORST animated sequels
Shrek 2 also had the best cover of Holding Out for a Hero
I feel Kung Fu Panda 2 shudda beat Toy Story 3. Because all three have the gang trying to get back to Andy and Buzz thinking he is a real space ranger. The second time was ok I guess but using it three times? excessive. I understand why it was put there tho.
Oh and i didn't cry at the end of Toy Story 3
I agree, Kung Fu Panda 2 beats Toy Story 3 by miles. :P
RLynnT I cried in Kung Fu Panda 2, but not in Toy Story 3
I cried at both, but when I watch both movies again, I cried more at Kung Fu Panda 2.
Dude his list, he'll place the movies anywhere he wants to
Love the Halo 3 soundtrack in the backround keep up the good work AniMat love you
I love Shrek 2, in fact it's my favorite of the series
I love this list! Every sequel in here and I love each and everyone of them! (but I haven't really seen Ghost in the Shell 2) Even the ones that are shown as the honourable mentions when the number shows up. I hope to see the "Top 10 WORST Animated Sequels" soon.
I cred at the end of toy story 3
Yoshiedude Likewise.
I didn't cry at the end of Toy Story 3, but i sure cried when all the toys were going to die in the burner.
Wait, toys can aftually die? Yeah...
How did I know Secret of Nimh 2 would come into this...
i cried but instead laughed until i cried not of sadness but of joy
waits paitientlt fir hate comments
It's crap-tacular.
the ending made me shed 1 manly tear.
It's not John Lassenter, it's John Lasseter.
I think that's a joke.
I am so glad someone included The Rescuers Down Under. I love that movie, and it is so often excluded.
i love lion king 2 .
Same
Im very very very very excited for Frozen 2 anyone else?😀😅
yeah
No.
Zack Jones we will see don't worry about it
No,Frozen Sucks
Luigifan300 I couldn't have said it better...
Why is Toy Story 4 happening?! I mean I don't mind a another Toy Story movie but Toy Story 3 is a perfect finale. Oh well
I think every Shrek sequel (apart from 3) is perfect!
Toy Story 3 is my favorite animated film!
...I didn't cry at the end of Toy Story 3.
"Quite you" that part killed me.
I admit, I don't remember anything from the lucario movie... but Lucario is my favourite pokemon.
Nicole Zhang You should watch it again. One of the best Pokémon films.
Nicole Zhang Pokemon lurcurio the mystery of Mew is based on the mystery dungeons games super mystery dungeon and explores of sky to be exact
Lucario Is Really Amazing! :D
