@@szymofilu3517 I think the main reason for the pirates sets failing was the big ship looked too similar to the one before (they have a very similar name, the same colours and nearly the same sails) and the second "big" Set was kinda "bad" because it wasn't what it said in the name. Honestly $200 is almost too little for how incredible this set is. We won't really see pirates anytime soon/at all, its a 2-in-1 and best yet you don't really need to disassemble everything to get the ship out of it. The main mast is sooooo bloody tall too. This thing easily towers over probably 90% of all sets out.
Having just put it together I can say its a fantastic deal and one of the best ever sets Lego has made. HUGE set (I was surprised how massive it is) fully detailed inside and out. Great to display or play with. Plus the other thing that surprised me is they give you TONS of extra little guns, swords, plants and seashells and what not. Well at least I got a ton of extras.
Great! Can't wait to get this!! Hopefully soon. Is it apt bigger than a modular building? Are the inside details good and easy to access or is it more of a display piece?

Some MOCers already designed some more compact and functional hideouts from those parts ...and provided free instructions! @@ofiterpunte I just got back into buying Lego with the Blacksmith Shop on Feb 1. When the Amelia Earhart free gift set came out on March 6th, I ordered my first Barracuda Bay. Working on the first few bags right now. Looking at the parts, it's worth $225. Barracuda Shipyard is a work of art. What a great MOC. That's how Lego likes to design; each set is worth buying twice. I think the beach section is useful with the completed ship. Just buy some extra azure and extend the water so the ship can dock next to the island and then you have a completed scene.
this island part can be rebuild perfectly into an island dock that ship parks with and is loaded with crates of food and barrels. Then you can probably connect it to some pirate hideout. Btw i took out the beds (as on these ships there were no beds) and put in there cannons, while other interior stays (except the wall). I spent the weekend building this set, and I can say it is absolutely worth the price! It was a very enjoyable build, all the more so for being a remake of the favorite set from my childhood. I haven't converted it to the full ship yet, but I can tell from the individual parts that it is an incredible remake. I described it to someone as if the original Black Seas Barracuda were a paint by numbers picture, someone took it as inspiration to paint a work of art.
Oh, and I am so gutting out the below decks area (the inn), knocking out the windows, and arming this thing with eight cannons. Twice the firepower of the original!

It's definitely geared towards older builders, though. It just has too much going on for kids with all the crazy attention to detail and the set is a bit fragile so its playability for kids is a tad low in my opinion.
In my opinion this is THE Set. Absolutly worth every buck. Some might say the price to piece ratio isn't as great, but it is sufficient and the set is gigantic.
@@JohnSoapMacTavish-tb6pk It's something I heard about this set, that the price per piece ratio is bad, compared with e.g. the IDEAS Treehouse. However in the end it doesnt matter much for this awesome model.
I won’t lie, bought this set to recreate the ship only for nostalgia. Once I got to step 15 to take apart the shipwreck I decided to hold off for a week, it’s now been almost a month the shipwreck is one the best display sets ever imo!
Easily one of the best things I bought last year. I've also got myself some custom tattered and torn sails (laser cut) from eBay for the shipwreck form. As for the asking price, I mean, it's a nostalgia trip for people in their 30s and 40s. Furthermore, the option to turn it into a ship or a shipwreck island makes it a great display because you can keep switching back and forth when you get bored of one or the other.
Today we can already say that Barracuda Bay is the most beautiful pirate ship ever made by Lego. It will be worth over $1000 one day. The island can be completed to grandiose proportions through other lego sets.
I completely disagree with the statement of "$200 for a ship plus a lot of leftover wasted parts". Just look at classic lego sets like "forbidden island" and "rock island refuge" and "sabre island". It seems the Caribbean in the 1700s was some kind of wasteland with endless azure sea, sandy beaches, palm treas and makeshift settlements, filled with people who came in the hope of finding treasure but were literally starving. So the fact the castaways only could build things from the Barracuda itself (because the island was so poor and so deserted) is some kind of hommage and one big running joke. And if your imagination cannot fill the poor leftover parts and you cannot build sandy beaches, sharp rocks and barren vegetation, it means only one thing: lego pirates is not your theme.
Yeah for me personally, the original ship from 89 was one of my first lego sets and along with one train set also from the 80’s is my most nostalgic set. Built it with my dad, and I was a massive fan of pirates and pirate themed movies at the time so this is something I’ve been begging for. I really wanted a reissue of the old set they put so much love into this and it really really captures the original set’s heart and soul so it’s a must for me and probably for many who remember the original set. It was the first ever pirate ship lego did, pirates was a brand new theme and it was magical! I miss the comics they did on the theme too. So glad the manual has a bit of that! 🙏 because it was such a special time and memory for both my dad and me he actually just ordered this for me. I’ll keep it on display as the ship but I’ll build the island first for fun and for the experience. I think that’s very cool, you get to sort of build two sets! Nice video my man 🙏
I love this set. I own one, and its sealed because i dont have a good spot to build and display it. What i like about this one is that its “open”. There are not too many things happening where your eyes cant reach without opening the set, its great for display. Most big legos need you to move it or tear it apart so you can see the stuff that is hidden. And this doesnt happen here. Beautiful and perfect for display. Most pieces are there and you wont need to move them. I wish lego made more models that the “action” is happening outside like this one. If you know a set that got at least 2000 pieces and is in production let me know please.
I don't believe it is a waste if you just want the ship. You could easily use the island as a dock for loading goods and whatnot, or something like that. I don't know who would want just the boat without taking into consideration the fact that it would come with a large island build as well, which has much room for imagination, perhaps even equal to that of the actual ship of you ask me.
i bought the set a couple days ago and it came in like 6 days (i live in canada so that is really fast), i used a couple of my spare pieces and made it a dock and added some british from the pirates of the caribbean sets. it was probably an extra 150 pieces so big but if you have a lot normal plate pieces you should be able to use the dock pieces. :)
Fun fact: they gave all the pirates backstories and names. I don’t know them all because I don’t own the set, but the captain is named Redbeard (3 guesses how he got that name lol) and the opposing color guys are named Port and Starboard, the nautical terms for left and right respectively.
Zippy Cohen it’s slightly larger I would say than, Assembly square. Tbh the barricuda island seems smaller than I thought, while the ship is much larger than I thought
I love this set and how they made it incredible. If I had that set, I would want to add the white statue parrot with the skeleton and have the red and green parrot next to the blue and yellow parrot. I say it is worth the money but any more in price would cause many to reconsider. I think they nailed the price with this build.
In all honesty, if I had the funds (and a time machine) I would’ve got this. I love the Lego Pirates theme, and never got any because I got into Lego a while after it was retired.
This is the first time I've really watched someone go from bay to boat, and I'm surprised just how much goes into it. Maybe even a little too much? Idk.
I have this set and most of the placing of the boxes and barrels on the deck of the black seas barracuda really isn't necessary and cuts down the time to transition between barracuda bay and the black seas barracuda a lot. I keep the sails on the foremast rolled up with the two extra strings that came with the set and the rear sail mostly assembled when in the barracuda bay mode.
I finally got my set....I remember as a kid really wanting the original ship from the early 90s but it was way to expensive, so to me it's worth every penny.
It's just amazing what a huge set you get here compared to what you would get for the same price from one of the lines like Star Wars where they obviously have to pay licensing fees

I love this set and how they made it incredible. If I had that set, I would want to add the white statue parrot with the skeleton and have the red and green parrot next to the blue and yellow parrot. I say it is worth the money but any more in price would cause many to reconsider. I think they nailed the price with this build.
Welcome to the Pirate Ship collectors club! Is addictive!
In all honesty, if I had the funds (and a time machine) I would’ve got this. I love the Lego Pirates theme, and never got any because I got into Lego a while after it was retired.
You can still get it for a little markup second hand in box
This is the first time I've really watched someone go from bay to boat, and I'm surprised just how much goes into it. Maybe even a little too much? Idk.
I have this set and most of the placing of the boxes and barrels on the deck of the black seas barracuda really isn't necessary and cuts down the time to transition between barracuda bay and the black seas barracuda a lot. I keep the sails on the foremast rolled up with the two extra strings that came with the set and the rear sail mostly assembled when in the barracuda bay mode.
Its José's in not josies
This does put a smile on my face
I bet Mike can send this to me!!!

I wish i bought this for $200
All you have to do is dismantle the ship in a reverse manner by going through the steps backwards from 30 to 1.
I finally got my set....I remember as a kid really wanting the original ship from the early 90s but it was way to expensive, so to me it's worth every penny.
Awesome Pirate Playset! I like it and I like your pirate hat too!
Nice Hat matie!
I really love these yellow round plates which make an island 🦋🦋🦋
That’s a cool set and a cool vid!
Hi MandR how are you
The black pearl LEGO pirate ship is good
Generation Builds Too black. The colours on this ship really pop. Lovely looking.
Intro would have been better if you got a Lego pirate hat and taped it to your head.
LEGO Boba Fett lol that’s hilarious
I think Joses is the original designer's father and he putted it in the sign as an easter egg
I'm pretty sure I also heard that in another review or something like that
Yeah that’s true
It's just amazing what a huge set you get here compared to what you would get for the same price from one of the lines like Star Wars where they obviously have to pay licensing fees
I had the older version and it’s definitely better as a pirate ship but I love this as pirate bay.
I don’t have much of a choice when it comes to not transforming it because I have no idea at all where I put the extra sails away too
Time shouldn’t be factor with LEGO, as long as your enjoying yourself 🙌🏻 great review can’t wait to grab one !
Should I buy that set?
I like this type of "review." Could you do a "Should You Buy" on the UCS A-wing?
This set looks awesome
The last 2 figures give me Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner vibes
Can you do a comparison of this and the creator one?
is there gonna be a vlog today?
SentinelLogan I think he likes beans
I want to get this and turn it into a mini golf course
carson_brix Are you still here

What
I was at virtual Brickworld
The fix for not needing to transform them is to buy 2 of them lol
