I didn't include Sonia's Base because I didn't realize it was sold as a single, but it would absolutely be on this list! geni.us/R4fKD Definitely more nimble than Wayne's 24S, and it's the same hybrid blend as her Fusion Series!
Yes, I wondered about that as well. It is a great brush for when you are in a hurry and you want to throw on concealer quickly after the foundation. Also, it is decent with stick foundations. I have not used it with the Tom Ford Traceless foundation stick. I have used the jumbo base with that foundation stick. 😊
This is by far the best foundation brush video ever made and you know UA-cam is saturated with them. Excellent job and you picked great brushes but not the same ones everyone will recommend for theirs. Appreciate you!
Could you do a drugstore priced foundation video, series, of all category of brushes? i have found so many drugstore brushes I prefer over my high end, like Milani Face brushes (eye brushes suck imo) Flower beauty, Kokie foundation buffing brush only, all my Sonia Kashuk and she even makes a lot with real goat hair, some Eco Tool brushes, BH Cosmetics like the marble collection, electric line in the Moda brushes, although they’ve cheapened the others outside the electric line- list goes on and on, as far as fantastic drugstore priced brushes. You are the first I’ve seen not to include the It Cosmetics brushes. Love your selection to share. I have the Marc Jacobs and found my drugstore brushes are much softer. A lot of these brushes are so dense that it is very difficult to clean and takes days to dry completely. That’s one downfall of the more dense kabuki style brushes. I have never liked flat foundation brushes and it was for two reasons, I always got streaking until I learned to lay it down evenly with the brush, then go back over with a sponge, to keep coverage, have it apply evenly but also it seems to work way better for tinted moisturizers, serum foundation and the light consistency more fluid type foundations. Now I absolutely love them since learning how I can best use it for me.
@@aliciaarcher I didn't get to go. I started but one of the kids I was with was hitting kids with a stick. He was given the choice of leaving the stick or walking back to school with the stick....he chose the stick. And now I'm chosing a brush
Sad to admit that I have quite a few in each category. Thanks to you Alicia , I have been buying brushes you’ve been recommending for years and now I know where all my money has gone!!! This was an excellent video when you have as many brushes as I do it’s good to revisit them and fall in love all over again! Thank you so much 😊
Hello queen of brush reviews 🥰 I was wondering if you’ve ever shared how you store your brushes? I keep all of mine out but am wondering if it’s better store them away if not in constant rotation/use? Sorry if you’ve already covered this.
I love all your content but truth be told, I love when you talk about brushes the most. You are so detailed when you talk about them it’s so educational. Thank you! 🙂
This is what I’ve been waiting for! I use Westman Atelier stick foundation and I don’t like the paintbrush paddle style. I use a kabuki style brush and buff but still looking for a better style for this crème foundation that doesn’t leave it heavy on my skin.
Alicia! Thank you so much for these brush reviews. Medium size brushes is where is at for me! The Sonia G Classic base is one of my favorites! I have purchased some of your brushes recommendations and it has been life changing for my makeup application! 🙌🏽👏🏽😘
Wow extensive brush video! This has to be the ultimate brush video! Thank you for going over so many brushes and in detail! I need to watch again!! 😊❤️
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been using dense brushes for way too long, and never realized that’s why I couldn’t get the natural coverage I was looking for
I've changed preferences for foundation application so much over the years. First I was always a hands person. Then a flat foundation brush. Then a super dense kabuki type brush, then a sponge, now I apply with a foundation brush like the bk 101 or the rare foundation brush and then I blend it in with a blender.
YAAAASSS this video is perfect. I really hope you continue on this theme. I could listen to you discuss the advantages and pitfalls of brushes ALL DAY LONG. Thanks for sharing your experience!!!
Would love your thoughts on Rae Morris’s other brushes!! I have a few and I’ve been ENJOYING them!!! But I never hear anyone mention them really. Excellent video!!! 💗
Im sooo picky about my makeup review videos, I saw your thumbnail with complete and thorough selection of products and buckled up! Thanks for being thorough 🥰
Yay!!!! Alicia, you are my Fude and commercial brush girl.🎉🎉🎉 To me, you are the decisive voice when it comes to evaluating brushes and most foundations. I agree, hands down, Sonia G fusion series brushes are amazing. Out of what you’ve spoken about, I will buy the Chikuhodo T11. I don’t have an all saikoho hair foundation brush. I just purchased a synthetic foundation brush from Rose and Ben. I have not used it yet but the quality and weight is quite good. I intend to use it with my Chanel and NARS cream bronzers. Again, great information!!! Thank you 😊😊😊😊😊
Hi darling 😘 💕. Absolutely loved your educational video 📹 ❤️. I am trying to stay on "low/no buy" year and especially in Certain categories. But couldn't resist buying some brushes from brands you mentioned. It's expensive but listening to you breaking down the use of every brush made me realize that using the brushes Certain way I will enjoy my existing make-up even more this year and that's exactly what I am aiming for. Your in depth videos 📹 are so interesting and educational that I can't get enough of them. Thank you Alicia for your work and taking so much time to educate your community 👏 🙏. Love you 😍 ❤️
Great video! I’m a foundation junkie and love nothing more than trying new foundation brushes. I have a ton of them but just keep on getting more. I was happy to see the Rae Morris 27 Radiance brush made the cut. It’s one of my top favorites as well. As far as I’ve been able to tell there isn’t anything else on the market that leaves such a beautiful finish with so little effort. Believe me. I’ve tried. Hakuhodo has a similar looking brush but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Rae Morris. The Hakuhodo one isn’t as large and has less than half the density as the 27. If you can find one I highly recommend trying the Koyudo Fu-Pa 07. Similar in size to the Fu-Pa 02 only softer. The 07 has a flat top and the corners of the brush head are tapered to reach all the nooks and crannies. The 07 is also a bit less dense with more flexibility making it more versatile. It can be used for powder application and all over blending easily.
Yes, i love your brush videos 🙌 i absolutely love the Sonia G fusion jumbo base and classic base they are fantastic. Rephr foundation brush is another favourite. BK Beauty 101 is great synthetic, and i really want the 109. I really like the Rare Beauty foundation brush and the IT cosmetics 07 heavily luxe brush. The Chikuhodo GSN 05 is another great brush 👌 and the Koyudo fu pa 02.
Thanks for this video, Alicia. I absolutely enjoy it. You definitely have become one of my favorite UA-camrs. I have been revisiting my foundation brushes as well, and have been collecting some fude version as well. You didn't include Zoeva 110 and Sigma F80 (Lisa Eldridge's favorite) which both I have. Sigma has lots of foundation brush shapes, and I still enjoy them despite my dive into Fude world. Keep up the good work!! ❤💟
This is so helpful!! I've only tried a brush once, which I now know was too dense, since it ended up making my foundation look way too cakey. Thank you so much 💓 I'll have to look into these further.
How did you know I was looking for foundation brushes?! Lol You inspired me to buy a Sonia g brush and I’m so mad cause I like it sm but I somehow missed the fact that natural meant animal hair 🤦♀️ now I’ll always want to buy natural brushes but can’t bring myself to 🥲 thanks for including synthetic brushes here too ❤️ loved the whole video!
From both a budget and practical standpoint, you can’t go wrong with the Mizuho CMP510. It’s inexpensive, synthetic so you can wash it more often than a natural brush, and it’s easy to maneuver around the face.
Finished watching the 1hr+ video, and I'm surprised you didn't mention the mizuho synthetic brush! I bought it after hearing rave reviews (including from you) and i'm totally loving it. My fav foundation brush currently
It was hiding when I was looking through all my brushes! I would consider that to be my top pick for an inexpensive synthetic choice. And believe it or not, the brush that inspired this video 😅 I have no idea why I missed it, but it definitely earned a spot on this list.
Hi Alicia, thank you for your detailed interpretation. Can I ask for your recommendation? I have sensitive skin and I use mineral powder foundation most of the time. What brush would you recommend? Sonia G jumbo base or Bisyodo B-FD-01 Foundation Brush Long Series ?
Alicia! I'm a new subscriber here and I seldom comment. But thank you from the bottom of my heart for the rae morris 326 recommendation....It's truly next level. I have the synthetic newer version, but it does not disappoint!!! Thank you for reviving my love for makeup brushes. #teambrushesoverhere
Hello, Thank you for your video! With such a large number of brushes, why didn't you choose just a couple? Do you often change the application techniques?
Wait how did you know I was looking for foundation brushes to buy with my fudebeauty discount coupon??? 😂 I’m really having a hard time choosing between the t11 and yoshiki y2. Now I want that bisyodo one lol my head is in a mess right now but love the video Alicia! ❤
This was great! I do have several and one in common that I am using more is the MUF 108. I use it with more serum-y foundations (i.e. the Westman drops) and it pats on the coverage beautifully. When I don't use it i waste the product trying to get coverage. It is amazing!! I was waiting to see if the WG Holiday '21 brush would be on the list. :) I missed it and am still so mad. grrrr. I am trying to find a dupe but no luck!!! Any ideas??
I'm pretty new to makeup and I'm still feeling my way. I want to try natural hair brushes but I need to make more money for one and I want need to know more. So thanks Lady!
Bought a Takumi 11 and I'm so sad that I don't like it at all. The Wayne Goss 02 brush is still my best brush for foundation. Bristles are so smooth and the swirl method works well with this brush without leaving any streaks.
So curious about the WG fan brush. It reminds me of the old Eve Pearl fan brush. So thicc. I love a good stippling brush if it's not a "flat top." I also love that green color. I bought the eye set just because I love green 🤭

I love the Fenty brushes for their quality. I like the feel of them however I fell in love with the Rare Beauty foundation brush (as well as their concealer brush) for the ergonomics although their quality is not as good as Fenty brushes. IMO

I cleanse my brushes after each use lol. I can not stand feeling old foundation or even powders in my brushes. I try to dust them off but I feel like it's not enough idk. I only use natural hair in powders atm but I still cleanse them each time. I'm going to ruin them all lol.
All of my Sonia brushes I bought because of you. And I have zero regrets, and I'm so glad I decided to take the plunge. On the note of WG 01 vs Rephr 31. I would say the WG also feels stiffer and more prickly to me, and it's a little trickier to use. If I put on too much foundation with the WG, the brush marks are a little more obvious. I do in general favour the Rephr and (ofc) Sonia base brushes.
