Praetorium is fun and it's a blast to do it with people who are also grinding through it for Moogle Tome events, but it's during normal gameplay and MSQ Roulette that it's kind of a slog. I mean it's the best option of the 3 available options for Roulette, but it's like choosing between a yucky salad, a yucky salad that smells weird, and a yucky salad that has a little mold on it.
The only reason players (including me) don't like praetorium is the unskippable cutscenes. I always end up dozing off mid dungeon during Nero's monolog. I love the writing for this game, but forcing me the rewatch a half hour worth of slow, unskippable, and mostly VOICELESS DIALOG it can drive any body bit crazy. "So tell me for whom do you fight?"
Back when it was an 8-man dungeon, I'd always recite Terranort's bizzare speech from KH3 in chat since he and AAR Gaius were played by Richard Epcar. I'd always imagine the main Warrior of Light was the Xion of the group with the others were the 7 guardians of light. "This is where you all lose "Before you even face the 13 Ascians, you will be torn aether from body But fear not, the Source will still be reforged."
I saw your pre stream chat archive. Idk if its a good idea to bring that energy here because its a messed up thing, but I really appreciate you being so passionate about the game industry and what's going on. I'm no developer myself, but I can't imagine having my entire passion/life's work be successful or do what companies want them to do and thats STILL not enough. I'm not sure a crash to the level of Atari E.T. will happen in our current climate, but something must be done with these massive corporations. Until then, I hope indies continue to thrive. Again, thanks for saying the things you said.
I know this kind of comment is something I've made before, but it feels extra relevant to say that these stream VODs have been helping me SO much lately!! I've been going through a really tough time and this has inspired me to bite back into FF14, I needed direction to find something to help me really burn away some bad vibes from a lot of stress and this is perfect! These videos have also given me direction here and there on some ways to improve how I approach things, including trying PVP! I'm a Dark Knight / Sage main and I'm nearly finished with Stormblood, so wish me luck catching up!! Thank you again for being a comforting presence during a rough time in my life, Penny (And Pella!!)
I watched the pre stream thingy and honestly that was really powerful. Really fucking sucks that the entertainment industry is so deeply fucked as of right now.
hate to tell you penny, but you are incorrect on the reworked MSQ roulette duties. Porta is better yes, but Prae stripped out all of Maggie's personality which is actually devastating to me, and Castrum is actually hot garbage now. A full half of Castrum is completely pointless. Everything from the trash chute to grouping up with Cid has no reason to be there. Before the rework, there was at least a tower to destroy in that area, which you did with a fun gimmick involving the explosives. I will die on this hill. New Castrum SUCKS.

I fully agree that prae is best case scenario for msq roulette (and I can usually write a few thousand words every time Gaius monologues)
