This may be a cover, but he’s been singing it for 45 years. One of his most famous songs is Maggie Mae.
He is a fantastic performer, he is still touring at 76. I saw him six years ago in Vegas and he was fantastic. He is to be in Vegas again this coming year, I would go if there was any possibility.
Yes he is British and he is actually Sir Rod Stewart
Just listen to anything by Rod you won't be disappointed!
I am in awe of the idea that others have no idea who my favorite artists are. I grew up with Rod Stewart's music. All the way to his first music. I love that you listened to this one first bc it is my favorite by him.
Ikr
Rod is still sounding great . He has such a unique voice. What a legend.
Cat Stevens is another great artist worth listening to.
Father And Son would be a good reaction.
I adore Cat Stevens and fucking Rob Stewart ruined this song
Love Rod Stewart! He originally released this in 1976. Please react to more of his music. Some songs written by Rod are Maggie May, Ever Picture Tells A Story, Forever Young, The Killing of Georgie ( Part 1 & 2….true story), Da Ya Think I’m Sexy, Stay With Me, You Wear It Well, You’re In My Heart, Young Turks….just to name a few. You should not hesitate to react to his covers because they are excellent too. I would recommend the hauntingly beautiful Sailing.
If you dig his sound, check out his collab with sting and bryan adams “all for love”. The tune is a lady killer :)
AMAZING Collaboration!! I wished they'd do more!! 💜❤️💜
I appreciate the gravel in his voice. He even had it in his younger days. Glorious!! Maggie May and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy are arguably his top two hits. Give them a listen :)
MrLboyd you should truly listen to an original Rod Stewart song from his younger days. He truly is a rock-n-roll icon.
Rod is probably at this point most famous as a cover artist, applying his unique voice to other people’s songs. He does write though and is pretty good at it. If you’re interested in him as a song writer, a few you could check out are Young Turks, The Killing of Georgie and perhaps his biggest song, Maggie May.
This song was written and originally recorded by Cat Stevens. It was also covered really well by Cheryl Crow.
PP Arnold was first to record this song when Cat Stevens wrote it, releasing it about 6 months before Cat brought out his album. She had been singing with Keith Emerson (Emerson Lake & Palmer) on the tours, and singing studio backing for The Small Faces (with Steve Marriott, Ian McLagen, Ronnie Lane and Kenney Jones who later brought in Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood from the Jeff Beck Group when Steve left).
Reason To Beleive and his biggest hit Maggie May the B-side that a DJ played by mistake.
Reason to believe- amazing 🤩
Rod has been around since the 60s. His hit list is huge. He voice is unique. As soon as he sings, you know its him. ❤
Maggie May by Rod Stewart is amongst my favorite tunes.
I was at one of Rod's concerts a few years ago. About half way through, he stopped and implored the audience to put their cell phones away and enjoy the concert rather than spend their time with their arms in the air looking at a screen. Respect!
It would be unlikely that you will ever find anything else like this song. I absolutely love it.
The man puts on a great concert. I got free tickets to one of his shows, tried to give them to my Mom's friends thinking I would not enjoy it, but ended up going as well. I had a blast, one of my best concerts and I have been to more than I can count.
Thank you thank you thank you for reacting to this song so one of my favorites of Rod Stewart! Has so many hits hard to pick from
The 70’s is the soundtrack of my childhood. I’m enjoying that you feature videos I’ve never seen. I am a huge Rod fan and never knew this was a Cat Steven song. This will always be Rod’s song.
love this! he does this song justice!
MrLBoyd, have you ever heard CHARO play guitar? She also plays Malaguena. GOD bless
My 3 favorite Rod Stewart songs are The Rhythm of My Heart, This Old Heart of Mine & Forever Young!
rod is unbelievably amazing
🚀 Congrats on 333K subs MrLboyd‼
💯 I love Rod Stewart, especially his older stuff! His is a VERY deep (& broad) rabbit hole that you should dive into‼Check out his "Maggie May" & "You Wear It Well" (for starters)‼🔥
I’ve loved him since I was 17 years old (a long time !!) but never managed to see him live 🥲
You have a great voice for reactions. That is a Blessing.
The Mowtown Song was one if my favorites when I was a kid. It just has a good uplifting vibe to it.
LOVE ME SOME ROD.........
this may be a cover but it's rod's version that was THE huge hit back in the '70s. rod has an IMMENSE catalogue but i only really love his early work - early '80s stuff.
New subscriber here. Rod Stewart has one of the greatest voices. Got to see him a while back at The Pyramid in Memphis TN. My younger days, I'm 47, I was a closet Rod Stewart fan. Now idc. He's my favorite. Not a bad song from Sir Rod, cover or original. Ooh La La and It's a Heartache for cover and for original try Rhythm of my Heart, Have i Told You Lately, You Wear it Well, and Downtown Train are just a few you should checkout.
The best cover version of this Cat Stevens song is by PP Arnold who bought the rights for £30 and made the first recording of it. PP Arnold had three members of The Nice including Keith Emerson in her backing band.
I love Rod Stewart! He is Scottish
I’m back remember when you was at 500 subs nice to see you grown keep going 💪
You need to go all the way back to when he was with the Jeff Beck group ( Rod covered jail house rock) and then of course “The Faces” which was his third band he is in before going solo. Maggie May was his first single on his own. Highly recommend!
There's so many great songs of his. He was most popular in the 70s. His group "Faces" from the 60s was great. Watch or listen to the originals.
My wife and I saw Rod a couple years ago. He still sounds great and put on one powerful show.
Sir Rod was my first concert.....in 1974! Damn I'm old. When did that happen? He does everything from "Do you think I'm sexy" and "Maggie May" "Forever Young" "Hot legs" ( his) to duets with many people of various ages, genres. He is possibly best known for not only his unique voice but also that he's dated or married pretty much all the tall, leggy, blonde supermodels out there :)
Rod Stewart must listen!!
- The killing of Georgia part one and two
- Maggie Mae
- Everyday
- Asap Rocky ft Rod Stewart: Everday
- Rod Stewart on carpool karaoke is the 2nd best carpool karaoke
following Stevie Wonders performance.
- Do you think I'm sexy if you wanna catch a slight disco/early 80s glam vibe!
I'm sad and happy hearing this. We all lose a bit of oomph as we get older. His younger years, that rasp would rip your ears off.
You need to listen to some of the songs from Travis Tritt. The Live and Kickin concert specifically. Great concert!!!
Mandolin Wind , Maggie May, You're in my heart, Tonight the night are song written by Rod Stewart. I think " This" is amazing song from him but he is so talented singer any songs he does he will make it his . Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams and Sting does All for love one to hear.
Rod is a legend. Listen to Maggie May and Don’t wanna talk about it.
Try “Maggie May” live off the Unplugged & Seated album. That’s was Rod’s first #1 song. Ron Wood on lead guitar (rolling stones & faces) live.
I am partial to Rod Stewart's 'You Wear it Well'.
How many people shed a tear thinking of love lost when this song first came out?
This song came out in 67
Maggie Mae, written by Rod Stewart & Martin Quittenton. Sung by Rod Stewart🔥🔥🔥
wee need more George strait, luke combs, midland, and brooks and Dunn
Rod Stewart killed this song. (Forever Young) is another good one.
When Rod did this song, despite the cover, he made this song so much more world wide then Cat Stevens, and not forget, earned Cat Stevens a hefty refill at the bank account
If you need another Rod Stewart song one of his big hits was a song called Maggie Mae. You seem to like artists that are not mainstream, may I suggest Jackson Browne. He has put out a few songs on UA-cam from his house that are very good. One of my favorites Before the deluge.
Yeah, you're listening to the greats after they have aged. You need to hear them when they're in their prime!!!
check on Rod Stewart's Maggie May and Rhythm of my heart and Forever Young You will not be disappointed
Rod is Scottish. Gotta listen to the album version, drums are fantastic
He's not Scottish he's from London born in Highgate
I'd recommend listening to "Young Turks" by Rod Stewart.
'Maggie May' Mr Boyd. You need to listen to Rod Stewart's 'Maggie May'!
His best Song, in my opinion. Sheryl Crow did an amazing cover.
Brooks and Dunn- Believe
yes....Stern!!!!
"Maggie May" & "You Wear It Well".
Rod Stewart has an unusual voice he doesn't sing as well there as he did pretty close but not as good as he used to on his stuff. He had throat cancer.
also check out the original version of the song by PP Arnold - The First Cut is the Deepest
Rod Stewart's version leaves out the final line of the refrain from the original: "But when it comes to being loved, she's first"
I did a search and you have not yet reacted to any Bob Seger. Please check him out....Night Moves, Against the Wind, Turn the Page and oh my the list goes on and on.
The Killing of Georgie Boy part 1 and 2 is amazing
I am amazed sometimes that reactors have never heard of one of biggest rock stars in the world
Please check out rod Stewart singing sailing, hot Legs or passion
You should listen to Randy VanWarmer...Just When I Needed You Most (1979)
You should react to the Band CAKE. Mainly the song Frank Sinatra
Ooh la la
The killing of Georgie is well worth checking out. A lot to unpack in that song.
Rod song to react to - Start with Maggie May - then - You should do some Cat Steven's songs - He has so many... Father and Son, Days of the Old School Yard, Moon Shadow and my fav Lady d’arbanville...
You get tons of suggestions so may I add one to the many, before Rod Stewart another Brit was Al Stewart with great songs.
You gotta check out Symba’s freestyle on the LA leakers #104
Cheryl Crow did a great cover of this also !
My wedding song was "have I told you lately" but I did always prefer Van Morrisons rendition.
MrLboyd, I watched your reactions to the Miyagi & Andy Panda, I loved it. You asked if they are the best in Russia? So... best? it is not that easy to say so, but they are definitely one of the best. More then that if you like to hear some dope Russian hip-hop, you should check the list below:
Баста, GUF, Каста, Триагрутрика, ОУ74, Ресторатор, Энди Картрайт, KILLAGRAM, МС Сенечка (they do it old school + the first five is a classic in Russia)
Oxxxymiron, Noize MC, L’One, MORGENSHTERN, Big Baby Tape (these are really different hip-hop musicians, but most of them a really popular in Russia nowadays)*
*imho
You should listen to Coheed and Cambria again. "Shoulders" is their new one but "A Favor House Atlantic is good. The Gutter, Unheavenly Creatures, In Keeping Secrets, Blood Red Summer there are a ton of other good ones.
New to your channel. If you've never heard U2, check out either "Where The Streets Have No Name" and/or "With Or Without You," or really anything from the album "Joshua Tree."
The guitar player, David "The Edge" Evans, is generally considered 1 of the top 10, (by some top 5), guitar players of all time.
I loved this when it was new. I bought the 45 and I didn't do that often. Original was better.
Try The highwayman by Loreena Mckennitt!
Maggie May!
You should React to James Blunt: Monsters Official Video....so far it wrecks everyone that has reacted to it. And from watching your content I know u appreciate a great Voice and Story behind a Song. Let's thumbs up this so it get's seen. Thx much love and stay healthy.
you should do 60 second assassins
Try sailing rod
On this day, I have a very special request, for a song that I would like to hear your reaction to. Trace Atkins, Arlington. As a veteran this song means more to me then I can actually put into words. I have relatives, that now called their home Arlington.
I feel like you definately react to Breezeblocks by Alt-J
It’s a little late but a new song came out today for Veterans Day. I was wondering if you would be willling to do a video on it! It’s i left my home by MJhanks, ft. Topher and the marine rapper.
Cheryl Crow also sang it
React to Glen Campbell and Roy Clark shredding the guitars the battle of the guitars
Please react to agseisa cover when ilook at you, miles Cyrus song thankyou
you need to react to unknown P fire in the booth
Cat Stevens wrote this song, Rod is great but the original is amazing
I also love Sheryl Crow’s cover of this song!
Enjoy your channel. Suggestion, I saw a video where you reacted to hearing a song by Tim McGraw. If you enjoyed that, I recommend you listen to his daughter. There is a UA-cam video that you can watch, the name of the video is "Tim Mcgraw's daughter stuns him with amazing voice".
You should check out Frankie Miller another Scottish great
The greatest
Been watching your videos for some time now, and I KNOW you love to break down bars so you HAVE to listen to JID LAUDER, you will not be disappointed.
This was pretty much Rod’s song, even though her didn’t write it. Check out his other 70s songs. You can skip the 80s forward.
You need to listen and react to (Sam stone) by John Prine
Just stumbled across this guy, love his reactions so far! I haven't had time to fully delve his video list....has he hit the rich mine that is the Tool to Puscifer revelations yet?
Both cat and rod are British
