I absolutely love this HBO series. All the actors do a great job portraying these men. We owe alot to the real men the sacrifices they made for freedom. Thank you.
Ronald Spiers was the easiest to identify (minus Winters since he basically is the one who made Easy Company famous). That cold stare, badass smile, and always straight to the point.
David Webster's memoirs (excellent read-audiobook!!) was a big part of how they got discovered and provided content for Dramatic retelling. He never volunteered for anything extra but he didn't ever let his comrades down.
Not only him! ... but the courage of Harry Welsh was extraordinary, his decisions and his determination in many difficult and punctual moments were decisive for the survival of whole easy company.

The age of soldiers and what they accomplish at those young ages is humbling. From this to Vietnam, but even older wars In the film Zulu the colour Sergeant who holds everyone together is portrayed as a veteran soldier probably in his late 40s early 50s, in reality he was 24.
Went to Normandy a couple of years ago and at one museum was an exhibit about Ben Vandervoot. At the age of 27, the guy was leading a battalion of the 82nd when he jumped on DDay. I’m 27 now. I can’t even imagine. Those guys were real men
They really were a product of their times. The Great Depression was probably the bigger motivating factor in their maturity. Also there was a greater expectation from society of young men back then. Since the 1970's and the elimination of the draft the age of adolescence has been extended into people's 20's. I too am in awe of what these men did at such young ages!
I wish they had covered a little more on Joe Liesnewski in the series. He was selected to work for the intelligence agency because he was fluent in Polish and some German. I thought he would have been as good an interpreter as Liebgot at the concentration camp (although I really liked Liebgots character). I think some of those prisoners were speaking Polish (son carrying father).
Interesting. I didn't know about his intelligence work. A missed opportunity. Also, I consider this BofB's only casting mistake. I mean, it's so far off. Liesnewski was one handsome dude.
Yes! Truly they are kids buT they had balls and guts to go their, theY had my respect i owe something with them, that they dont have that after war.. What is that? My "FREEDOM"
Seemingly the depiction of Blythe is almost entirely fictional. A member of easy company gave a talk where he said Blythe did not hide for a day after the D-Day jump, Fought through ww2 and then went on to fight in both Korea and Vietnam. I wonder why the writers/producers did Blythe so dirty? Odd given they had access to members of easy company.
@@BG_Low I think you can get the Military to sponsor you if you are wanting to be a part if it and then they help with citizenship?? Not sure how it works.
The bit where Easy are pounded by 88s near Foy and Guarnere goes to fetch Toye... I mean, unless you're in that situation you don't know what you would do, but I can't imagine the pair of hard-diamond balls it must've taken to do that, with death filling the very air.
I would think that for anyone that clicked on this, that we all knew the names of their characters so why didn't they put something like Carwood Lipton as portrayed by 🤔.
Wow... the music does this show an injustice. It makes some of the show's darkest scenes seem like these jovial adventurous romps. This is by far one of the greatest miniseries/TV shows ever made, and this commercial makes it seem like it's Hogan's heroes with a bigger budget or something.
Best TV ever created? Either Band of Brothers or The Sopranos. Growing up in the 60's and 70's the TV choices were crap but the music was amazing. Now the TV choices are fantastic but the music is crap. Can't win.
Col. Ed Shames said without a doubt he was the most worthless drunk in the U.S Army. His parents had pull with the brass, but even that couldn't keep him out of getting demoted.
Hahaha Age 22 my ASS lol that actor is at LEAST in his late 30's, early 40's! 🤣 It's a Tobey McGuire Spider-Man situation, where an OBVIOUS 30 year old actor is playing a high school kid, even during their historic visit to the natural history museum, where Peter Parker is bitten by the radioactive spider, the actor portraying the teacher leading the field trip was famously younger than all of Peter Parker's classmates! 😂👍
Hell yeah, being critical of the present generation in comparison to a generation depicted in a Hollywood miniseries. No disrespect but does that sound kinda ignorant to you? I'm not saying either generation is perfect but those who went through world war one where critical of the roaring twenties who blamed certain generations for the great depression and so on and so on. I agree the generation that fought in ww2 was a bunch of bad ass, stone cold individuals who were fighting for pride and honour and freedom. But let's be real. People change, and the generations previous will always judge the present generation because they don't understand and don't want to compare they're similarities. Only the differences. We forget about the men and women today who give they're time, they're comfort and they're lives so we can continue to live in the freedom the generations before us fought for.
My son was with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles in Afghanistan where he received a Purple Heart.

George Luz, class clown. Loved him in the series.

He does a damn good Rhode Island accent too.
Winters said 1200 people attended his Funeral.
Rushing an MG and playing chicken with a tank... man Harry Welsh has got some balls.

Christ, the age of these men.
I think Perconte and Winters must have been one of the oldest, barely at the age of 27 and 26.
They are still older then me

The music to the soldiers' TV spot is very beautiful. Thanks for uploading the TV Spots, I never knew that HBO made them.
This really helped me. I always forget who's who and it's the second time I'm watching

It’s crazy how much war matures a person! Most of these guys are around my age (21) and they give off vibes of today’s 30 year olds lmao

Good song, crap statistics. The average age of US combat servicemen in Vietnam var a little over 22.
I was nineteen when i joined Air Force during Viet Nan War.
Paul Hardcastle, right?

George Luz reminds me of young Gary Oldman
Does anybody know what the song is that plays during Buck Compton? It's also on the main menu for The Alamo (2004).
Also trying to find the music for the one on Bill Guanere.

Not sure. I know they took liberties with Liebgott's character, combining other soldiers' stories into his.

Why is Shifty wearing a white helmet?
He has a piece of white linen over his helmet. Many soldiers during the Battle of the Bulge used linens for camouflage.
