    You don't need to explain or apologize for outsourcing work! We all do it in different ways. We have our house cleaner come every other week and it's been a game changer. And dude- you're a doctor, all doctors should have one!

    Fellow professional ADHD girlie here!! Never feel guilty about getting the cleaner. I’ve only done it a few times but it is a life saver when it happens and you deserve it. You work hard! You pay them for their services. It’s ok!! :)

    I was basically a walking garbage disposal for free food left over from meetings when I was a PhD student. When the building manager asked me one morning as I came in if I wanted a bacon sandwich, I was like 'absolutely'. That was basically the science equivalent of a bonus. Food was never binned when there were poor students about!

    In my apartment building, we have cleaners that are included in the rent to clean the communal spaces. Honestly, having to only clean my room and bathroom (which admittedly I don't do as much as I should) is such a game changer. Other than basic everyday cleaning of the kitchen and living room (dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down the counter top after you finished cooking, take out the bins to the rubbish shoot etc), the communal areas get a professional deep clean every week, and basic necessities like kitchen/toilet paper, cleaning supplies etc get stocked. Even if you can afford one day a month/every few months cleaning service, it's so worth it!

    i think we should normalise trying to make life easier for ourselves where possible! you shouldn't feel guilty for hiring a cleaner, & i think if anything, sharing that you hired someone to clean your flat makes you relatable in a different way because it shows that it's ok to need help sometimes in order to function! sometimes social media can set very unrealistic expectations and make us feel guilty for not being able to stay on top of everything. so you sharing this is actually quite refreshing! yes it's luxury but i dont think it's something you should feel the need to justify in the slightest, especially given that you work two jobs!

ADHD in women is very hard I suffered for years. Please continue with these natural vlogs it’s real life if people have problems with it, they should stop putting people down and get a life. I think working in translational medical research also helps to make you not be grossed out by things. I've processed some pretty funky bloods, seen some saliva donations that make me question if the volunteer owns a tooth brush, and I can tell my boss is treating some colon samples as the incubator smells pretty rancid (everyone prey for my poor cultured cell babies having to share an incubator nursery with new stinky roommates)

  • @waterballoonfighter

    I’m a big fan, but as a clinical dietitian I have to say… You saying squash reduces the glycemic index in a green smoothie is just no 😩 It’s fear mongering and making it seem like people without diabetes need to worry about glycemic spikes, which are perfectly normal and affected by a million different things 🙃

    • @DrFayeBate
      @DrFayeBate  3 місяці тому

      Hey! Completely agree with the fear mongering about glycemic index in non diabetics. I’ve previously made a video about how I disagree with Zoe suggesting everyone could benefit from monitoring their blood glucose! As someone with a history of disordered eating, I think there’s far too much demonisation of food.
      BUTTTT nothing is black and white. Higher glycemic index = quicker release of sugar = won’t keep you full for as long and can lead to inconsistent energy levels throughout the day in non diabetics too.
      I LOVE my smoothie because I can get lots of nutrition down me before a long shift BUT blending fruits causes a sharper increase in glucose than eating whole. Hence, adding Greek yoghurt + courgette has been a really really easy way for me to extend the sugar release and keep my energy and mood more stable throughout the day 💁🏼‍♀️

    • @waterballoonfighter
      @waterballoonfighter 3 місяці тому +1

      @@DrFayeBate Thanks for replying! Yes, there is a LOT of food demonisation, and this hype regarding CGM in non diabetics is already causing a massive increase in disordered eating, so thank you for speaking out. Of course glycemic index is real, and of course our blood sugar levels are affected by what we eat. But that doesn’t mean the average person eating a healthy and varied diet needs to worry about it on a daily basis 🙃
      Smoothies are indeed a phenomenal way to load up on fruit and veg! BUTTT blending fruit does not cause an increase in glucose levels, this has been disproven 💁🏻‍♀ Adding squash is great, but my problem lies with your framing - by mentioning glycemic index, you could unintentionally lead someone from your audience down a rabbit hole of harmful “nutrition advice” which can lead to disordered eating… Instead, it might have been more beneficial to mention that “squash is a great source of fibre, which helps keep me full for longer” - thereby emphasising how fantastic dietary fibre is! As healthcare professionals we need to consider how we talk about these things, and as a doctor your word carries a weight to it.
