  • Is the white cane a banner for blindness, a barrier, or a basic tool for independence? There are many myths and stereotypes about the white cane and who should be using it. If you are blind or have low vision, this video can help you to decide if it’s right for you.

I loved when you said "I am not a blind person, I am a person that happens to be blind, and there's difference" 10/10

Thank you. I hope this video can help others who might be struggling to except their vision loss to understand the difference, as well.

😅 you’ve got this. When you get to the point where you grab your cane on your way out the door without even thinking about it, it’s a fabulous feeling of freedom. Go for it!

Woohoo! I use a cane too, I'm partially blind. :) One eye is blind and other is impaired. :D I like my cane tons. :) People see me around walking with my cane. :) I asked my eye dr after I stopped using it if i should use it and he said YES . :)

When I was doing my O&M training, we were in town and there was a low hanging branch. I saw it because I have low vision but going totally blind. I asked my instructor if you just run into overhead things when you’re blind. She was like, ummmmm yeah I’m sorry. I lol. I thought of that when you mentioned the low hanging branch in your neighborhood. I’m a positive person and life is always an adventure. I was just notified of your channel and am now a new subscriber. Thank you and look forward to seeing your videos.

I love your outlook on life. Thanks for subscribing. In case you were interested there is a device on the market that you can clip to your hat that will buzz when a low hanging object is near. It’s called the BuzzClip. It’s very similar to the mini guide, if you are familiar with that device. Here’s a link. www.lssproducts.com/product/BuzzClip-2nd-Generation-Mobility-Guide/other-canes-and-accessories?back=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fclient%3Dsafari%26as_qdr%3Dall%26as_occt%3Dany%26safe%3Dactive%26as_q%3Dbuzz+clip%26channel%3Daplab%26source%3Da-app1%26hl%3Den good luck with your mobility lessons.🧑🏼‍🦯😎

95% of Visually Impaired persons on the US don’t use a van or a guide dog.
I’m a cane user, but on a waiting list for a guide dog.

That’s great. Guide dogs can be wonderful. I have had three of them myself. Good luck. Experiencing your first guy dog is an unforgettable moment in life.🦮
