    A real shame for Evan. Well done Mitch👑🦀Hooper Not one but Two W.R. plus = a third. Great to get the Axel after missing it the first time. It looked as if there was more in the tank.
    Tom did better than in the past. Pavlo took advantage of Evan being out of the comp but still had to dig deep after the deadlift. Another W.R.!!
    Andrew Flyn looked as if he was having a great time. Pleased to him so happy.

    There should be implement records and world records.
    World records should be standardized equipment (12 log, minimum length etc., 2.5" axle with fixed weights that are a minimum diameter...)
    The fastest run on giants live stones of a specific weight should be referred to as a competition or implement record. World record for atlas stones should be a max stone over a defined height.
    Loz and Shaw should be the authority to write the standards.

    For such a stacked line up I thought it didn't live up to the hype this show. Mitch looked in A1 condition but some of the other guys weren't at their best. Tom didn't look at his best, Novikov and Gav underperformed. Evan seemed a bit off (I wonder if he knew he was carrying a slight injury coming into this show hoping it wouldn't worsen). He didn't seem his happy usual self at all.
    The newer guys were great to see and it was awesome to see Pavlo get 3rd place, he's improving year on year. We were missing some of the US guys like Trey Mitchell. All eyes on the SMOE now, could be a hell of show and that really does have the best lineup of the year.

    Do you think that WSM and Giants Live will change the rules on the axle press to just press or get it up want ever way you can Obviously they have allowed the split press slip into this event. ?

    • @BigLozOfficial
      @BigLozOfficial  Місяць тому +22

      I highly doubt they'll change the rules. Jerking has been allowed at the pro level since the sport began and has been utilised by many athletes over the years, including the likes of Jon Pall Sigmarsson, Raimonds Bergmanis, Mikhail Koklyaev, Oleksii and Pavlo, Rob Kearney, etc.

    Not really the biggest fan of the split press for strongman. I feel like it was overall a more impressive feat of strength the way Big Z did it. Don't get me wrong it's still crazy impressive but it cheapens the lift. It's the Sumo of deadlift

    I really hope Brian has the cahonies to only allow push press in overhead pressing events at SMOE. Clean and Jerk is very technique based and not a true representation of static strength. Lasha Talakhadze has the WR on Clean and Jerk with 267kg (albeit with a barbell not an axle). Eddie Halls 216kg axle press WR at Giants Live 2017 was a far more impressive display of static strength, he didn't even push press with his legs, it was a 216kg strict press! I think it's doing a disservice taking records from people using technique/momentum rather than statically lifting it up against gravity. It's still an impressive lift and I'm happy for Mitch for having a great show, but I've been a fan of strongman since the 80's and I watch it for the incredible feats of static strength. I'm not a big fan of some of the medleys either because cardio plays a big role. If I wanna see cardio I'd watch crossfit.

    • @Adamrawlifting123
      @Adamrawlifting123 Місяць тому +3

      There's no way Brian is going to ban it. See Loz's comment further down the thread, Jerking has always been allowed in Strongman and there's no appetite amongst athletes or promotors to change that, it's just a small minority of fans that are bothered by it. Brian is going to want a great show with the strongmen performing to the best of their ability, so he's not going to suddenly handicap Hooper, Lucas Hatton, Oleksii and Pavlo for no good reason.

    • @cisrael468
      @cisrael468 Місяць тому +2

      I don’t know if you’ve competed in strongman but I can promise you jerking awkward implements and completing medleys with appropriately chosen weights takes tons of static strength. An event you can finish in sub 90 seconds is nowhere near CrossFit

  • @misterc5783
    @misterc5783 Місяць тому

    Do no strongmen have children? They never ever mention them….after every event. 😂
    No time limit but let’s not be silly.
    Let’s give Bernard Langer a call and tell him he can have another go at the putt he missed at the Ryder Cup eh.
    But man is he a strong muthafu…

    • @Adamrawlifting123
      @Adamrawlifting123 Місяць тому +6

      I'm glad the strongmen were allowed multiple attempts because we got to see the best out of them. Andy Flynn and Hooper both had the bar come away from them and got it on a second attempt, Pavlo got dizzy but then got it on the second attempt. The rules are what they are for everyone, and I don't know why people are complaining or comparing Strongman to Golf.

    • @misterc5783

      @@misterc5783 and again it was in the rules that athletes could have a longer break if they were going for the world record. At least we didn't have to wait for over half an hour like we did for Eddies 500kg eh.

      @@misterc5783 Out of curiosity, how much money have you given Giants Live to watch any event? The people who paid for tickets -- selling out Royal Albert Hall -- want to see world records. Organizers are going to set rules that maximizes the chance they happen. My guess is that you're complaining about free entertainment. Well, the athletes and the promoters need to eat. They are going to care more about the opinions of people who financially support the sport.
