Honestly I like dragons lair- it would make a great Disney movie or somthin lmao.
Don Bluth had already left Disney by that point; there was a TV series, though.

dragon's lair was really state of the art when it first came out during the 80's.I remembered this as if it was yesterday! Thanks for the video!
@@DrWho2008t101 but link the face of evil IS the greatest game of all Time. The animations looks gorgeous and so smooth, attack on titan can't even compare. The gameplay is so fire, the hitbox of the ennemies is perfect. And the musics are better than John Williams whole repertory. It's a 666/10
@@DrWho2008t101 I agree, playing this in the arcades in the 80s was something special. It's like first playing pong on a TV, you will never understand if you weren't there. I mean you could move stuff, on you TV! WOW! And with Dragons Lair you were 'playing' a cartoon on a video games machine. WOW!

No 7th Guest! One of the best puzzle games back then
I agree that "7th Guest" was one of the best games on the CD-i. The only negative about it was that it was too fast and smooth, which worked against the creepiness of the game.
Another good game was "Kether" where the combined a flying game with a puzzle-solving game (you'd fly to a location, avoiding dangerous obstacles, arrive at the location, and solve a puzzle to advance to the next stage.
2021 and I'm still playing!
Kind of surprised in two ways. First that this is not one of the usual youtube Phillips CD-i is the worst console of all time video's but secondly it would appear it actually had some playable games - not just CD movies playing with basic point and click overlays.
Still, can't forget the day back in the early 90's when a friend, who was new to gaming had just played Tempest 2000 on my Jaguar, decided he needed a Jaguar too.
Long story cut short, he came back from the store £800 lighter and with the salesman's recommendation, a CD-i !
Alas, 30 years on, it would appear my choice in console was nearly as bad as his was

One of my faves was the colouring in pages, you coloured in cartoons and it would play your colouring in back as a video, like twinkle twinkle little star

Thunder in Paradise should have got a mention being an okay game and one of the few Exclusives.

1. Marco Polo(based on the 1982 miniseries staring Leonard Nimoy (spock) Burt lancaster and other greats! A merchant rpg sim with real life graphics from the series!)
2. 7th Guest (DUH!)
3. Defender of the crown (yep! Its there and its good!)
Flashback was such a great game.
Never knew CD-i had a side scrolling beat em up.
Cool. Every not so good system, truly has a few gems.

No love for "Dimo's Quest" and any of the other FMV titles ( e.g. "The Lost Ride") or "Atlantis: The Last Resort"? What about adventures such as "Myst" or "Lost Eden"?
The system had a pitful excuse of a barely responsive game controller though. Thats probably killed the system.
The system had various different controllers, for games with digital input there was a pad that was essentially the same as the "Gravis PC GamePad" and one that was sold for the Amiga as Tecnoplus TP511 - both are decent enough. The trackball is also nice for some games, as is the gun. Don't try playing action games on this system with an infrared remote though, you will fail miserably.
@@patrickbrooks7435 If you mean the original controller, it wasn't specifically meant for playing games. It was designed to be a multimedia machine controller, closer to a TV remote.

My favorite cd-i game is tetris... It has that real classic contols and some awesome backdrops and music
Tetris is absolutely my favourite game of all time and it pretty much defined my childhood, playing it on the og GameBoy. Man I wished I knew about or had access to something like this version back then

Which is unfair and inaccurate. It was an all in one device, and if they could've gotten the rights to more properties it would've been a pretty rad pre-internet entertainment system. If nothing else, it was a great concept.
Some games are realistic and animated
I like the unreleased, later recovered and released Plunderball. It's a fun little pinball game with a lot of charm, but after you see the FMVs a few times, you'll want to turn them off. Luckily, you can do exactly that in the options. The main downside is no music (probably wasn't finished). I like to listen to the Tetris CDi OST while playing.
The Boxing game was actually very good for its time IMO. A version of Evander Holyfield Boxing.

Yeah, I have a CD-i and have been playing dragons lair. Not a good iteration of the game unfortunately. It gives you no prompts like it did in the footage that was uploaded.

I seem to remember a Jurassic Park game that was unique to this console, sad it didn't make the list or even honorable mentions, I was hoping to see it again to spark my memory.
Hotel Mario is just a copy of a unreleased Loony Toons game from Atari for the 5200 where Bugs has to close all the doors in the stage while avoiding the other characters
The only CDi games I know of are Hotel Mario and the Zelda one (I forgot the name!) because of people making YTPs

People don't seem to understand, bad games are not the fault of the console. Bad games are made by lousy developers.

If you knew what you were doing in the burn cycle game back then with no such thing as cheats or really no hints or anything lol you would not enjoy this game but I sure figured out this by 15 years old most of the game.

The Intellivision of the 90's.
It had some good games and some terrible.
Little Devil ( Think spelt a little differently) had absolutely awful controls … inputs often massively delayed before on screen reaction … made it unplayable.

Why did phillips have Nintendo games ??
Phillips acquired licenses from Nintendo when they tried to work together back in the day. This was a very long time ago when Nintendo was mulling over trying out CD media before the PlayStation era. Out of all four games released on the CD-I that were based on Nintendo properties, the only decent one is Hotel Mario. Don't EVER play the Zelda games, they are drop dead horrendous. There's a reason the three CD-I Zelda games are known as the "Unholy Triforce".

Hotel Mario was a great one, I would play for hours. I remember a cool racing game too, with a track that was a miniature car on a kitchen table with bowls of cereal and untinsels as obsticals. My favorite was the Richard scary busy town game, and this cool aseops fables game
