I know tekken 7 is a different game, but this guide is GREAT for fundamental learning of feng. Trust me the frames may be different I'm not too sure but the fundamentals will take you a LONG way. Major credits to @AvoidingThePuddle for doing this because it took me a long way from ttt2 into T7!
Traditional combo breakdown videos tend to be overwhelming with their myriad of techniques. They showcase the combo, but none of the moves are individually explained. You broke each of his good moves down perfectly, detailing how each move is best utilized. After watching your Feng tutorial videos just once(!), my Feng game stepped up immensely. Thank you for your videos.
Yes! full on in depth, character tutorials that don't drop you in the deep end with walls of text is exactly the thing that tekken needs! Keep up the vids, G
hi everybody, im 22 yo and from where i come tekken tag 2 is the current law between friends..we dont talk we just meet and and fight against each other in this game to solve problems and ur tutorials sir helped me a lot thank you!!!!
Very good tips. I've been learning Feng as my secondary, and had a good head start with 100+ damage combos, but I'll have a lot of fun with this mix-ups.
Aris, From QCF+1 CH, you can also do f+3, 4, and it'll still count as a combo. Wall-wise, I've been having success with resets, using db+2,2,2 during TA's from characters with slow execution time, such as Jack-6's 1+2, 1+2. Thanks for the post!
Back kempo 4 is awsome. Good block stun and catches people off gaurd all the time. Plus I've noticed against some people that they want to rush after and with 3+4 off ground if it connects will give a full combo. Good Stuff!!!
I remember when you were streaming this, and I am re watching again to work out the kinks in relearning Feng some more. Remember, this is a legacy game. Old tutorials are fine. Just have the current frame data with you and test out the same stuff, and everything else should be similar enough.
i know it's a long vid so there is bound to be a few errors; but just wanna say f+4,4 is -12 or so. it's definitely not launch on block. anyways nice vid, appreciate the effort you put into these vids, honestly
Ok, he numbers relate to the parts of the body. on Playstation, 1 would be square which is left hand, 2 would be triangle- right hand, 3 would X -left leg, and 4 would be circle which is right leg.
Johnny, I hope you play Lei if you really find him fun. Yes, he is challenging to learn but you can learn the basics within a few weeks. You don't know all of his moves anyway, just key stuff like when to use his razor rush, how to make use of his backturned stance, etc. Mastering him, well, that might take a really long time (as in years) but I believe you can be great with him if you're dedicated. Good luck!
very very impressed (part 1-5). this is a real tutorial. i hope you know how to use Lei and do a tutorial on that character. i don't see many people using Lei, and i don't see many combo vids of him either. if you do that i'd be very very thankful (apart from being amazed).
downloaded this vid and watched it offline, just had to go back and say thank you. very comprehensive, includes rationale behind the recommendations, with strategy suggestions as well up to "button-sound-input deception". but of course, expect the usual choice of words from aris.lol so yeah, when is part 2?
pretty much frames are kind of like how long it takes for the move to come out. so 12 frame is 12/60 of a second. a move that is negative 15 means that on reaction, any move that is 14 frames or faster have the ability to punish with human error in between. Its still pretty fast though.
Great tutorial, thanks! Just a random question; what are your thoughts on Kunimitsu in the hands of good players? Have you met many? Do you consider her cheap, good or easy to read/plain bad? Just interesting to know because you're usually insightful and since I play her. Maybe the answer really depends... Also, I'm suspecting an AK tutorial coming eventually...if it is, really looking forward to it. Cheers!
moonman_v dude can u stop bragging with ur feng no one cares and don't give a fuck unless ur ass was in Evo this is a tut to learn a character stop trying to pick fights
moonman_v boy I don't care about ur Tekken story lol ur bragging needs to stop I'm just saying like it is this video is about LEARNING A CHARACTER lol ur not cool by bragging ur the best feng so gtfo with that shit lmao
Thanks for this tutorial, Aris, I just started playing TTT2 and i'm trying to learn Feng and Lei. For what i understand Feng is a all-around good character that doesn't require high execution, but the six stance stuff with Lei kinda scares me, because he may be too much for a new player. Should i continue to try to learn him or should I find something that maybe I like less but that is easier to learn? Keep up the good work dude!
The only hard nerf that I can say that King has got from T6 to TTT2 is that air SW does shit damage now (18 now as opposed to 30 before) which destroys his solo damage potential off of his hopknee (but it'd break his TA combos, so can't really complain). But since he now gets herp derp oki off of it, I wouldn't complain (d+3+4 is guaranteed NO MATTER WHAT, df+4,3 floats if they decide to get up or GU kick, d+2+3/GT's if they stay there or sideroll, b+3+4 into DELAYED HOPKICK if they Tag Crash).
Thanks man lol sounds complex but I learned all the great combos which i find easier than doing these combos these are insane cant wait until i reach that level of skill
Not sure he just said that he'll be doing Armor King next, he'll announce when most likely on his website avoidingthepuddle . com or check tekkenzaibatsu . com for front page news when it happens.
Hey Aris. This is a good tutorial! Thanks for uploading this. I wanna know if you're going to do an armor king vid as well? I need some help with him really. Sorry if I'm asking too much. lol I just had a bad day of losing streak on tekken today. lol
I played this game earlier today after not playing tekken for years, actually forgot some moves. Seems like they took out his forward step Paul phoenix like punch, which is a shame.
A summary of my day: "Oh wow, Feng is really fun to use. I just wish someone had made a good tutorial for him." *logs on youtube* "Recommended for you: TTT2 Feng Tutorial" Win. ...UA-cam is psychic. Also, this guide is great. Thanks for making it.
They took his stance combo off 😢. I think it's the Shifting Clouds followed by 1 + 2, 1, 2 and 1 + 2. D D/B 1, 1, 1 to D D/F 1 1 is another combo you could chain but it's gone.
Not sure if you covered it later, but doesn't Feng have a generic BT uf+4? Or BT ub+4 if you prefer notation relative to Feng's facing. That should be a mid that gives a full combo
Hey great vid and yes Feng value has came up a lot on tag2, will you be make a tutorial for raven I main him and I'm having issues with his changes in this game I think they made him worst than making him better imo...thanx

Brother you are an expert and have great talent for explaining Tekken Technical stuff. Man Tekken is so deep I hadn't realized.
Man, never though Hagrid would be teaching me how to play TTT2 :) In all seriousness this was really helpful!

After not playing for a few years I really appreciate these videos to help me relearn my character.
You know what your talking about and i appreciate that :) ! Your love for the game really shows here
I've been using feng for quite some time you have definantly helped me elivate my game with him
hi everybody, im 22 yo and from where i come tekken tag 2 is the current law between friends..we dont talk we just meet and and fight against each other in this game to solve problems

Very good tips. I've been learning Feng as my secondary, and had a good head start with 100+ damage combos, but I'll have a lot of fun with this mix-ups.
thanks for this tutorial series so far. i'm gonna try out a Feng/ Unknown or Feng/ Bryan team and see how this flies.
Aris,
From QCF+1 CH, you can also do f+3, 4, and it'll still count as a combo.

Holy shit! I'm new here and the moment i saw that beard i was like. "What..the actual...fuck?!" You just earned yourself a new subscriber, hahaha
I'm using this tutorial now for Tekken 7 :D
Kris Allen me too!!
same
Kris Allen same haha
Kris Allen Ari's said not to use these tutorials for tekken 7 you stoners
Same
So much information compressed into this video, you are good at teaching thanks.
just starting playing him in tekken 7
all this still works :]
Punishers got nerfed though :/
Aris, you are SO awesome! Thanks for all you effort!!
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for a tutorial for my main. Coincidentally I also use Dragunov as a partner for Feng.
I remember when you were streaming this, and I am re watching again to work out the kinks in relearning Feng some more. Remember, this is a legacy game. Old tutorials are fine. Just have the current frame data with you and test out the same stuff, and everything else should be similar enough.
quick update , were still here in 2022
Even for a Feng player this tutorial has a lot to teach. Thanks Aris.
You opened my eyes to some key points with my favourite character, thantks man!
i know it's a long vid so there is bound to be a few errors; but just wanna say f+4,4 is -12 or so. it's definitely not launch on block. anyways nice vid, appreciate the effort you put into these vids, honestly
favorite character in tekken
As far as I know, the only way to do that is to crouch cancel. So QCF, u, b+3~4.
Ok, he numbers relate to the parts of the body. on Playstation, 1 would be square which is left hand, 2 would be triangle- right hand, 3 would X -left leg, and 4 would be circle which is right leg.
As a new player, there is a vast amount of good stuff here.
Awesome Walkthrough Aris, you must do more of these. I'll be patiently waiting for your Dragunov tutorial since I know you are a Dragunov player.
Johnny, I hope you play Lei if you really find him fun. Yes, he is challenging to learn but you can learn the basics within a few weeks. I once ran into someone who could see QCF1, and QCF2. I tried going completely random with it, and he blocked it every time. Every. Time.
very very impressed (part 1-5). this is a real tutorial. i hope you know how to use Lei and do a tutorial on that character. i don't see many people using Lei, and i don't see many combo vids of him either. if you do that i'd be very very thankful (apart from being amazed).

Back when Aris was an ear user
Thanks for blowing up my character, Aris.
SICK! & Thorough! Tutorial from a great guy!
thanks man i just started to play Feng 1 week ago. and this is helpful!
"13 frames is when you start fartin' in peoples dinner." - Aris "CatFace" Bakhtanians
I came for the tutorial, I stayed for the epic beard.
Thank you for doing this man. Really appreciate the ups
feng back turn hop kick is dangerous as well if ur opponent expects the sweep
I love the philosophy on lows! "If someone blocks this low, you suck" lol DON'T BLAME THE LOW!
Thank you very much, good sir. The video has helped a lot! :)
All the best to you, sir.
Aris you are the man! thanks for the vid it helped a lot.
Great tutorial, thanks!

best tutorial ever! i feel like i´m playing like a pro now!
I can't remember how many times this character mind fkd me out of a win.
Raskal Yep especially if you play against me.

What a manchild you are, nobody cares about you Feng and i bet you are not so good.
Lili's been one of my faves since DR, but I've gotta admit, if I got beaten by those two it would piss the hell out of me
Damn this was informative as hell thank you sir!!!
He announced last night on stream that he's going to be doing Armor King next.
i reached 30:00 i gota sleep, i will continue tomorrow
thnx 4 the video

LOL "this i just realized, is giong to take forever LOLOL
good stuff aris!
Awesome tutorial bro! You got a suscriber!
aris thanks for the tutorial, you're super helpful man! kudos
In the process of learning Feng right now. I'm mainly a Jin & Hwoarang player

this guys very good
never knew you can get a free shoulder if they try to block the low. i'll keep that in mind
Aye Aris, After a close CH cd+1 you can get a f3,4 too. Same with ss4.
how transferrable is this information to tekken 7?
Really transferrable
Finally i got the answer! Thanks alot Aris.
Thanks man lol sounds complex but I learned all the great combos which i find easier than doing these combos these are insane cant wait until i reach that level of skill
This was awesome dude thanks. Maybe you or someone you could convince to do a Yoshi tutorial? That character gets no love.
"It's safe on block too. You don't even need to be good!" haha I died
LevelUpYourGame has made a Lars tutorial for T6 as well as TTT2.
Thanks aris i gonna make feng moves in real life
Lololol nice
Great video about Feng
Not sure he just said that he'll be doing Armor King next, he'll announce when most likely on his website avoidingthepuddle . com or check tekkenzaibatsu . com for front page news when it happens.
I know, but I'd like to see his opinions of Dragunov in this game. Opinions of his new moves, etc.
Hey Aris. This is a good tutorial! Thanks for uploading this. I wanna know if you're going to do an armor king vid as well? I need some help with him really. Sorry if I'm asking too much. lol I just had a bad day of losing streak on tekken today. lol
WAIT A MINUTE . WAIT A MINUTE . I THINK I SAW YOU AT EVO
I played this game earlier today after not playing tekken for years, actually forgot some moves. Seems like they took out his forward step Paul phoenix like punch, which is a shame.
What I am on about, is that throws don't really matter in high level play. Throw techs are hella easy if you learn how.
Aris, are you going to be doing this for other character, like dragunov and armour king also? Anyway, very very good breakdown of the character.
This guy plays Feng, he must be one of those.
He did a Dragunov guide with Level Up Your Game, but it was Tekken 6
A summary of my day: "Oh wow, Feng is really fun to use. I just wish someone had made a good tutorial for him."

...UA-cam is psychic. Also, this guide is great. Thanks for making it.
You are awesome, dude! Just awesome!
informative and quite entertaining thanks for the info
im using this series to learn feng, is it still applicable for tekken 7?
Aris, Feng can do shitton of wall dmg with Raven for example: At wall: ff2, f4,3 5 TG (Raven u3,d3,3) df3, b1+2
Not many people use raven lol
UknownAssassin I like Raven.
They took his stance combo off 😢. I think it's the Shifting Clouds followed by 1 + 2, 1, 2 and 1 + 2. D D/B 1, 1, 1 to D D/F 1 1 is another combo you could chain but it's gone.
hagrid is that you?
Lol
STUDE
Sweet, this is really helpful
Not sure if you covered it later, but doesn't Feng have a generic BT uf+4? Or BT ub+4 if you prefer notation relative to Feng's facing. That should be a mid that gives a full combo
I read somewhere that feng's fighting style is the same as Jet Li
He said he might do this shit every sunday. Would be so fucking good if you do
can you do a anna williams tutorial? i really enjoyed this it makes me want to pick him up
o you don't consider the shoulder block back+1+2 really good? you can stop someone who tries to run at you easily with it.
Dood could you PLS do one of these extensive tutorials for Wang?
King is hella good what are you on about. He's got great throws (his primary strength) and herp derp oki off of those throws.
You forgot u/b+4 for the mid back turn launcher.
Hey Aris, did you recreate Feng's DR color scheme yourself or did it choose that automatically when you chose Feng as the practice dummy?
This is really helpful!!! Thx!!
Hey great vid and yes Feng value has came up a lot on tag2, will you be make a tutorial for raven I main him and I'm having issues with his changes in this game I think they made him worst than making him better imo...thanx
