I bought a new 2017 YXZ clutch model and put over 6000 miles on it. Mostly Glamis Sand dunes, and Arizona desert. The machine was rocksolid, and never gave me any trouble. The fit and finish combined with the build quality and reliability was amazing. I truly miss that machine!

I still think Yamaha is my top manufacturer. But they have fallen so far behind in the UTV market that the YXZ is a non-starter. Outdated subpar suspension geometry, no OEM turbo, no OEM long travel, awful frame reinforcement (multiple YXZ's I've seen with frame damage of arms ripping off the car), and the worst and most dangerous OEM "cage". I can't imagine spending $23,000+ on a car like this when there are others that beat it in every aspect other than having the transmission.
These cars can be amazing with deep pockets. Turbo kits, rear suspension redesigns with proper trailing arms, long travel, etc. They could easily bring to market a Turbo R and Maverick RR competitor with OEM turbo, long travel, and redesigned suspension geometry and charge $30k. I know I would eat it up in a second if they had a similar competing car with Polaris and Can-Am.
I do love Yamaha, but they really need to step it up and stop re-releasing a car from 2017.

The point of a yxz was different than any other side by side.
I reflashed my 16. Put 31in irok NDs on it with a bit of offset. Put 20k miles on it on the street before it was totaled.
On I10 with a reflash and redline raised to 10.5k it would get to 99 mph pretty quickly. But...if you were willing to keep it pinned...you could get 106 on the GPS.
it never felt super confident offroad, but on road is was an absolute blast.
