Dear Lejla thank you for your amazing tutorials! finally, you are the one made the comprehensive IFC tutorial, look forward to seeing more, Merry Christmas!
This is very well explained, I hope you can tell more about Classes and the importance in classification accuracy. Thanks for sharing this Leila. Im looking forward for more videos on this topic.
Hi, thanks this video helped me a lot, but i have a question: if I would want to add some information to the IfcSystem (ex: Pressure and Heat transfer fluid) as you did with IfcProject, IfcSite and Ifc Building, how can i do this in Revit? I use Bim Vision as Ifc viewer and I would want to view general information about my Plumbing System in the IfcSystem section as I can view general information about my building in the IfcBuilding section.
Thanks for your comment - I think this is a challenge on the Revit side already, as you can't really add custom properties to a system, as it is a virtual concept - you can only add properties to the pipes or ducts which are members of the system. What would be the use-case / which information would you need on the IfcSystem Level?
Hello Lejla, Is it possible to export 2 IFC Buildings from a Revit model? For example, IFC Building 1 - Underground, IFC Building 2 - Above Ground.. ? So we have 1 IFC Project, 1 IFC Site and 2 IFC Buildings in 1 single Revit file
Hi Dusan, this is not possible out of a single Revit file - a Revit project is intended to host one building. If you have a second Revit project linked in your main project however, you can can export one IFC with 2 IfcBuildings, see this article: autodesk.ifc-manual.com/revit/ifc-export-settings-dialog/additional-content
Hallo Leyla, thanks for your video.. it is very usefull. I installed the latest IFC version (2021) but I can not find the folder when I want to create new parameters.. my ApplicationPlugins-Folder is empty.. can you help me? (Working with Revit 2020).
Hi Gaetano, thanks for your comment, glad you found the video useful! Please note you should download and install the latest IFC 2020 version if you are using Revit 2020 - the installers are different for each version. Here you can find the latest release for Revit 2020: github.com/Autodesk/revit-ifc/releases?q=2020
Thanks Leila! One thing: you said you could change the Shared Parameter from instance to type. Although this is true, Autodesk provided us with 2 Shared Parameter files: For instance parameters: IFC Shared Parameters-RevitIFCBuiltIn_ALL.txt For type parameters: IFC Shared Parameters-RevitIFCBuiltIn-Type_ALL.txt They have different GUIDS. I'm not sure if it will create problems if you use the same parameter for both instance and type, probably not.
Hi Menno, good catch - I must confess I've always just tried to keep consistency and used mainly the first (instance) parameters file. I'll dig into this and let you know / maybe also create a short video! :)
Honestly one of the best sources on IFC for Revit on the Internet, Please don't stop making these videos
Agree !
Really well explained! This is looking to be one of if not the best resources for Revit > Ifc out there, keep it going.
Thanks Gavin, really appreciated! :)
Excellent, we are waiting for the Dynam IFC class. Keep going.
The way how is structured and explained through examples, it's priceless. I can not wait for the next videos. Good work, Lejla.
Nicely compiled and thorough instructional videos, they help a lot. Keep it up! Thank you very much for your work!

Thank you a lot! It is very helpful. Can't wait to see the automation in Dynamo:)

You are just amazing, please we need more content
Thanks for this masterclass lecture.
A Video with Bulk Share Parameters with Dynamo would be nice 🙂
Thank you, exactly what I was looking for!
that was really informative.. Bless you dear
Please, video with automatically adding shared parameters with dynamo!!!
may i know how to add custom pset to ifcSite in Revit 2024?

Hi great video! Do you know how to create multiple IfcBuildings in one project?
Thanks for the clear and useful information.
Question please: is the ifcSite represent the "parcel"?
Yes, correct - IfcSite includes the physical building site / terrain and information about the location of the building
the video is somehow very very blurred. Is it possible to fix that?

Understanding how Revit supports IFC is timely. IFC is definitely the future for the industry (IFC4 is so much more powerful than IFC2X3).
Thanks Leila!

@@BIMmeup Is it important to use different shared parameter list for type and instance?
