Hi Talli Faye!! I mix butter and coconut oil (solid form) in my pie crust. Please lift Brandon in prayer. My grandson in the military. Not well has extreme back pain. Have a blessed day ❤
Heavenly father we thank you for your loving hands of healing and mercy for Brandon Lord fir you never change your words are truth and faithful in every part of our life Thank you for healing Brandon back and thank you for taking care of him were ever he may go in life and thank u lord that your words and ways of life will enter his heart forever in Jesus name thank you for loving us most of all Amen
Hello Talli Faye, from Pointblank, Texas we appreciate you sharing how to make different items in the kitchen! I am a visual person who learns by sight, you can tell me tell the cows come home on how to make it...THANK You so much for all the recipes you share with us! ❤ To You, STAY BLESSED!
I love pie so I make many throughout the year. I do use butter in my crust. In the olden days I always used crisco. I think I will use shortening for my next pies. Thank you for the really great video!
You've given me encouragement to try homemade crust again. I quit when they removed the trans fats from crisco. I swear that's when my crust started giving me trouble! It became so difficult to work with, kept cracking when I rolled it out. I never used ice water though, just cold water. And I never kept shortening in the fridge. Maybe that's the trick!? I'm going to try your single crust recipe. Also, I have never EVER seen someone pick a pie shell up out of the dish!! Talli Faye my jaw dropped when you did that!
You sure bring back memories for me as you cook! We share a way of life and words as you work around your home. I constantly tell my kids and now grandkids what I remember being told as I grew up. One of which was,,,”Don’t be lazy, you can be handy as a pocket on a shirt if your so a mind to be!”😂❤
Tally Fe great showing people how easy a pie is to make. A few suggestions however. I would recommend using About 2Tablespoons more Shortening or Butter and only about 3-4 Tablespoons of ice water. It will come out flakier. Keep all ingredients very cold. I also would recommend wrapping the crust prior to rolling it out. Refrigerating it for 30-45 minutes and then rolling it out. The key to making it Flakey, is to keep the Shortening as small beads of cold fat surounded by the flour. When you add the water, it’s only to bring it together. I also would suggest using weights when blind baking it, rather than scoring the crust. Especially if you have a very liquid filling. Dry Pinto or Kidney Beans can easily be filled into the crust with some wax paper. The weight will keep the Bubbles from forming. Keep the beans in a separate container and re use any other time you bake pies! And I would not use Marmite in the crust, unless it’s a Meat Pie! 😂
Hi Ms. Tali, I just love watching you! When I first came across your channel and my husband saw you he was taken aback because you look just like my mother inlaw, even down to your mannerisms so much so you could be sisters. We lost her about 10 years back just 3 months after we lost her husband so for us seeing you is a comfort. I was wondering where did you get your turquoise cannisters and do they come in red? Thank you.
It’s so strange how people can be so alike and never know each other.. that’s why we’re all God’s children 😍… I found those canisters at a garage sale!!!… One of my funnest finds ever!.. I would love them in red!!
You influenced me to get one of those cute little salt scoops 😄 It came in the mail today. You need to set up an affiliate link. I bought one of those pie mold thingys because of you too 😂 And, I'm thinking about getting a Fiskie (like your red fork whisk).
Girlfriend! Thank you so much for sharing this. I couldn’t ever make a pie crust to save my life😂 we ate the filling and threw the crust away 😂😂😂 💕🙏🙏 Your KeyLime Friend ❤
Uh oh, ya got me! LOL! No excuses for me "not being a great baker", because this did look pretty easy! And flaky, yum! But hey, what temperature for the oven? Thank you and God bless!
Girl, you whipped that out , lickedy split. My mom could do that. It’s amazing to me. You are a wonderful encourager. Thank you 😊 My grandmother planted a lemon seed, after moving to CA, from Texas. That tree produced the most beautiful huge lemons. We would bring them back to Texas and my mother would make fantastic lemon pies. She used the same recipe for her flaky thin crust. ❤
Hi Talli Faye, my Grandparents lived on a hill too. They had a green house and I always called it the green house on the hill❤ they were cotton farmers in Hale Center, Tx. Outside of Lubbock and Plainview.
I have literally taken your advice of "don't be scared" to heart. I have always been able to cook decently but I was always scared of things like bread and dough and pies. Lately I've just been taking your advice and telling myself what's the worst that can happen? If it doesn't turn out the way I want it I know not to do that the next time.
